Abstract

This research aims to optimize natural lighting in the Alauddin Makassar State Islamic University Library building by enhancing the distribution of natural light. The study employs a quantitative method involving direct measurement of natural lighting using a lux meter on-site and the dissemination of questionnaires among library visitors. Field measurement data is processed using MS Office Excel to assess the lighting conditions. Additionally, the application of Autodesk Ecotect with the Desktop Radiance plugin is utilized to simulate field measurement outcomes. To optimize natural lighting, simulations are conducted using six different models of light shelves. The simulation results indicate that employing a light shelf positioned centrally with an external angled surface proves most effective in maximizing natural light entry into the building. On the second floor, a centrally positioned light shelf with a 15° angle on each outer window opening yields the highest R2 value of 0.94. Meanwhile, on the third floor, using a centrally positioned light shelf with a 30° angle on the north side and 15° on the south side of the window achieves the highest R2 value of 0.85.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indoor air quality plays a vital role in ensuring comfort and maintaining the health of users in enclosed sports facilities, such as indoor futsal courts. Proper air circulation significantly contributes to thermal comfort and reduces health risks associated with inadequate ventilation. However, this aspect is often neglected in the design of such buildings. This study aims to: (1) analyze the performance of air circulation in indoor futsal buildings, (2) assess indoor air quality, and (3) develop a design model that optimizes airflow using computational simulation. The research methodology included field surveys and direct measurements of building and ventilation opening dimensions, air velocity, temperature, and concentrations of CO and CO₂. Simulations were performed by adding new inlets and outlets equal in area to the existing ones but repositioned strategically—additional inlets were placed at 6.70 meters above the floor, and outlets were located 1 meter above the floor. The third simulation scenario showed a significant improvement in airflow speed at the central part of the building, ranging between 0.7 m/s and 1.5 m/s. By increasing the total inlet area to 271.32 m² and the total outlet area to 171.6 m², with incoming airflow speeds of 2.7 m/s, a more effective and evenly distributed indoor air circulation was achieved. These findings confirm that modifying the placement and sizing of natural ventilation elements can substantially enhance airflow performance in indoor futsal facilities. The proposed design model contributes meaningfully to architectural practices aimed at creating healthier sports facilities that effectively respond to passive ventilation requirements and may serve as a reference for the design of similar buildings in tropical climate regions.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of introducing and training the use of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) to MSME cracker sales in Tulungagung as an alternative to a non-cash payment system. So far, the cracker sales transaction process has been carried out entirely in cash, so business actors do not have the knowledge or experience in using digital payment methods. In fact, the development of the digital economy in Indonesia shows a significant increase in the use of QR-based payments, especially in the MSME sector. Through this activity, participants were given an understanding of the basic concept of digital payments, the benefits of QRIS for small business actors, and the technical stages of its registration and use through banking applications and digital wallets. The implementation method consists of socialization, training on the practice of creating a QRIS merchant account, and transaction simulation using the devices of each participant. The results of the activity indicated that all participants were able to create a QRIS account independently, understand how to make and receive payments, and realize that the non-cash method can be a practical, safe, and efficient option for their business. This activity is the first step to increase digital financial literacy for MSME actors in the traditional food sector, as well as open up opportunities for them to be integrated into the national digital economy ecosystem.
