Abstract

Kata kunci: mahasiswa; manajemen referensi; sitasi; zotero Abstract The proper use of references is one of the essential skills for students in writing academic papers. However, many students still face difficulties in managing references systematically. To address this issue, an online Zotero training was organized by the Biology Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, in February 2025. The training was attended by 75 students from the Biology Education Study Program at Universitas Tidar and aimed to equip them with more efficient reference management skills. The aspects assessed during the training included understanding of reference management, proficiency in using Zotero, and accuracy in formatting citations. Program evaluation was conducted by administering a pre-test and post-test to measure the effectiveness of the training. The results showed a significant improvement of 19.6% in students' understanding and skills after participating in the training. Keywords: citation; reference management; students; zotero

Abstract

Science literacy is a critical 21st-century competency that remains low among Indonesian students. This study aims to test the effectiveness of website-based learning media in improving science literacy skills in 10th-grade biology. The method used was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design involving two classes: an experimental class and a control class. The research instruments consisted of pretest and posttest assessments of science literacy skills. Statistical analysis results indicate a significant improvement in students’ science literacy skills, evidenced by an increase in the average score from 74.9% on the pretest to 86.5% on the posttest. Meanwhile, the control class also experienced an increase from 71.5% to 79.9%. In addition, the implementation of learning in the experimental class was classified as high. Thus, website-based learning media are effective in improving students’ science literacy.

Abstract

is study examines senior high school biology teachers’ understanding of deep learning and the extent to which its principles are reflected in classroom planning and practice. An exploratory descriptive mixed-methods design was used with 20 biology teachers from public and private schools in Sleman Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through a questionnaire on conceptual, practical, and reflective understanding, semi-structured interviews, written reflections, and document analysis of lesson plans, student worksheets, and related teaching materials. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while qualitative data were analyzed through reflexive thematic analysis and rubric-based document review. Findings show that 15% of teachers were in the low category, 45% in the moderate category, and 40% in the high category. Teachers generally associated deep learning with active learning, inquiry, higher-order thinking, and project-based activities. However, documentary evidence showed that transfer-oriented tasks, explicit student agency, and authentic assessment were less consistently planned than contextual tasks and higher-order questioning. Time pressure, assessment workload, student heterogeneity, and limited institutional support were major constraints. The results suggest that teachers’ readiness is promising but uneven, and that professional development should emphasize outcome-task-assessment alignment, transfer-oriented learning, and feasible authentic assessment in biology instruction

Abstract

This research evaluates the readiness of the tissue culture laboratory at SMK Negeri 1 Pandak using an observation instrument of laboratory preparedness. This study focused on the laboratory infrasturucture and management system as the primary object of observation in seven aspects. The instrument's validation was conducted by two Expert of Tissue Culture experts to yield Aiken's V validity coefficients for the seven aspects of laboratory readiness observation instrument ranging from 0.585 to 0.661, indicating that the instrument is valid. Observations of the tissue culture laboratory's readiness also revealed an average total readiness percentage of 76.72%, with the infrastructure (84.61%), facilities (85.84%), and administration (85.71%) aspects categorized as "Very Ready". The occupational health and safety (70%), learning process support (80%), and entrepreneurship development (68.42%) aspects are in the "Ready" category. The laboratory dynamics aspect (62.5%) showed a "Less Ready" category, thus requiring special attention. This research confirms the validity of the instrument and provides an overview of the tissue culture laboratory's readiness, and it can be used to enhance the quality and effectiveness of tissue culture laboratories in vocational agriculture schools. In addition, this result contributes as a strategic evaluation model in the management of vocational education laboratories and provides concrete recommendations for the development of entrepreneurship-based science education through the optimization of facilities and standardized management systems
