Abstract

Purpose- This study aims to describe the role of sports activities in improving students' mental health through Guidance and Counselling services at Takengon 4th State Senior High School. Research Methodology / Design / Approach-A qualitative approach with descriptive methods was used. The research subjects included guidance counsellors, physical education teachers, the principal, and students selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was maintained through triangulation of sources, techniques, and member checks. Finding- The results showed that sports activities had a significant positive impact on students' mental health, particularly in reducing stress and anxiety and increasing self-confidence. Guidance and counselling services act as facilitators by integrating sports activities into student development programmes to support psychological well-being. Originality/Value-The synergy between sports and guidance and counselling services creates a more conducive learning environment, builds social skills, and reinforces positive values such as discipline and cooperation. Thus, sports activities integrated with guidance and counselling services are an effective strategy for improving students' mental health.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat minat belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Bimbingan dan Konseling Pendidikan Islam (BKPI) Semester III di IAIN Takengon serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya. Minat belajar merupakan aspek penting yang berperan langsung terhadap keberhasilan akademik mahasiswa karena menjadi pendorong utama dalam proses belajar dan keterlibatan selama perkuliahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei terhadap 25 mahasiswa yang terdiri atas 6 laki-laki dan 19 perempuan, dengan instrumen berupa angket berskala lima kategori (selalu, sering, kadang-kadang, jarang, dan tidak pernah). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat minat belajar mahasiswa tergolong tinggi dengan rata-rata capaian sebesar 70%, dipengaruhi oleh motivasi intrinsik, dukungan lingkungan belajar, kreativitas dosen, dan pemanfaatan teknologi pembelajaran. Namun demikian, masih ditemukan sebagian mahasiswa yang memiliki minat rendah dalam kegiatan belajar mandiri di luar tugas kuliah (58%), sementara dorongan untuk meraih prestasi akademik mencapai 117% yang menunjukkan orientasi kuat terhadap pencapaian nilai. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa minat belajar mahasiswa tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal, tetapi juga oleh strategi pengajaran dan kondisi lingkungan belajar, sehingga diperlukan upaya kolaboratif antara dosen dan institusi untuk memperkuat minat belajar melalui metode pembelajaran yang variatif, pemberian umpan balik positif, serta penciptaan suasana belajar yang kondusif dan inspiratif.

Abstract

Evaluasi program dalam layanan bimbingan konseling biasanya dilakukan oleh guru bimbingan konseling. Proses evaluasi program dilakukan untuk melihat program yang perlu dikembangkan dan perbaikan program bimbingan konseling. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas evaluasi program layanan bimbingan dan konseling di SMA N 2 Takengon. Motode penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data primer diperoleh dari guru Bimbingan Konseling di sekolah tersebut dan data sekunder dari hasil telaah, buku, referensi atau dokumentasi . Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa evaluasi program bimbingan konseling dilakukan dua kali dalam setahun, dengan fokus pada capaian melalui penilaian Laiseg, Laijapen, Laijapang dan kendala yang dihadapi dalam evaluasi program BK yaitu keterbatasan waktu serta upaya guru BK dalam mengatasi kendala dalam proses evaluasi program BK. Kesimpulan bahwa evaluasi program bimbingan konseling memberikan gambaran yang jelas tentang pencapaian program bimbingan konseling serta area yang perlu ditingkatkan dalam meningkatkan program bimbingan untuk masa depan yang akan datang untuk perkembangan peserta didik

Abstract

Program BK merupakan suatu rangkaian kegiatan bimbingan dan konseling yang telah disusun dengan penuh perencanaan yang matang dengan terorganisasi dan terkoordinasi dengan sejumlah pihak didalam lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas bagaimana perencanaan dalam penyusunan progran BK di MAN 1 TAKENGON. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode Deskriptif Kualitatif. teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara,observasi,dan dokumentasi. Data yang di peroleh adalah dari masalah satu guru BK di sekolah MAN 1 TAKENGON. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dalam penyusunan program ada beberapa hal yang diperhatikan, dari perencanaan program hingga pada evaluasi. Perumusan visi misi menjadi salah satu dasar penyusunan program, karena dalam visi terdapat tujuan yang ingin dicapai lewat program yang dijalankan. Seperti yang diungkapkan oleh guru BK dalam wawancara, perumusan visi dan misi BK dalam program BK telah disesuaikan dan sejalan dengan tujuan sekolah.

Abstract

This research discusses the learning independence of physically disabled students. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Moro’o. The informants consist of classroom teachers and parents of the students. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the learning independence physically disabled students and the obstacles experienced by these students themselves and teachers. The research method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This research method is used because it has the purpose of describing the situation of the problem objectively under natural conditions. The data collection techniques used are observations and interviews. In general, the results of this study illustrate that students can be independent in learning only in limited learning or activities that use physical so that it needs attention and help from an educator.

Abstract

Quality education is influenced not only by pedagogical aspects but also by students’ physical readiness, which is closely related to nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) and its impact on student participation in Physical Education learning at SD Negeri 1 Bebesen. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation as well as member checking. The findings indicate an increase in students’ average attendance from 85% to 93% after the implementation of the program, along with a decrease in the number of students absent due to illness or fatigue. These changes are described based on observational and documentation data within the qualitative case study context. Observational results reveal improvements across all participation indicators, including active engagement in warm-up activities, endurance during core exercises, enthusiasm in games, and responsiveness to teacher instructions. Thematic analysis identified four main themes: increased physical energy, enhanced enthusiasm and motivation, active participation in physical activities, and improved attendance consistency. These findings suggest that the MBG program contributes not only to students’ physical well-being but also to psychological readiness, thereby supporting the effectiveness of Physical Education learning. Integrating school nutrition policies with activity-based learning represents a holistic approach to improving health-oriented educational quality.

Abstract

Study skills refer to cognitive, behavioral, and self-regulatory abilities that support effective learning. Many students still show poor study skills, and factors such as internet use and achievement motivation may influence them, as online information access and a strong drive to achieve can shape learning strategies. This research aims to examine the contribution of internet use and achievement motivation toward students’ study skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method. The population consisted of 625 students, and 244 Guidance and Counseling majors at Universitas Negeri Padang were selected as samples. Instruments were based on a Likert scale with reliability values of 0.841, 0.841, and 0.842. Data were analyzed using multiple regression, although the manuscript does not clearly explain the research design or descriptive statistical procedures. The findings show that both variables contribute 31.3% to study skills, with a significant positive relationship.

Abstract

Social anxiety (social anxiety disorder) is one of the most common mental health problems experienced by adolescents, particularly in educational settings. This condition is characterized by excessive fear of social interactions, concerns about negative evaluation from others, and physical symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, trembling, and sweating. This study aims to: (1) describe the level of students’ social anxiety before and after the implementation of breathing exercises, and (2) examine the effectiveness of group counseling using breathing exercises in reducing students’ social anxiety.This study employed a Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) approach conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were students of SMP Negeri 4 Takengon. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire administered through pre-test, post-test cycle I, and post-test cycle II. The intervention technique used was group counseling with the application of breathing exercises aimed at helping students control their physiological responses to anxiety.The results showed that students’ social anxiety levels before the intervention were in the moderate to high category. After the implementation of the first cycle, the anxiety level decreased to a moderate category. Furthermore, in the second cycle, students’ social anxiety significantly decreased to a low category. This reduction was indicated by the gradual decline in the average anxiety scores across each cycle. In addition, observational results revealed positive behavioral changes, such as increased self-confidence, reduced nervousness when speaking in front of the class, and improved social interaction skills.The findings also demonstrate that group counseling using breathing exercises is effective in reducing students’ social anxiety. This technique helps students achieve relaxation, reduce physical tension, and improve emotional regulation. The group counseling dynamics also provide social support that strengthens behavioral change processes. Therefore, the combination of group counseling and breathing exercises is not only quantitatively effective in reducing anxiety levels but also qualitatively enhances students’ psychological well-being.In conclusion, the implementation of group counseling with breathing exercises is an effective and relevant intervention to help students overcome social anxiety and can be used as an alternative strategy in school guidance and counseling services. Abstract

Tingkat student attrition yang tinggi menjadi tantangan strategis bagi keberlanjutan institusi pendidikan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan Servant leadership yang diterapkan oleh dosen pembimbing akademik terhadap intensi attrition mahasiswa, dengan student engagement sebagai variabel mediasi. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif eksplanatori, data dikumpulkan melalui survei daring terhadap 150 mahasiswa aktif di perguruan tinggi IAIN Takengon. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) berbasis Partial Least Squares (PLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Servant leadership berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap student engagement, (2) Student engagement berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap student attrition, dan (3) Student engagement secara penuh memediasi hubungan antara servant leadership dan student attrition. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan bimbingan yang humanis dan melayani dari dosen adalah faktor krusial dalam meningkatkan keterikatan emosional mahasiswa dan menekan angka putus kuliah. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan kepemimpinan dosen yang berorientasi pada pelayanan dan kemanusiaan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan emosional mahasiswa sekaligus menurunkan kecenderungan mereka untuk meninggalkan studi.
