Abstract

The change of paradigm of university education level in Indonesia has demanded changes in its curriculum. More skill-based curriculum is demanded as the result of global competition. As the paradigm change, the teaching method is should be changed as well. Translation/Interpreting I course in English Education Department of STKIP Suar Bangli has been changed to be more skill-based course as before it was emphasized on theory only. This course was taught by using Project Based Learning approach in order to give more practices to the students rather than teaching theories. This approach was conducted in 1 semester consisting of 16 meetings. It was done in fifth semester students of English Education Department of STKIP Suar Bangli. It was qualitative descriptive study which aiming at describing how was the implementation of Problem Based Learning in this course. Some instruments were utilized such as documentation, observation sheet, questionnaire and evaluation rubric. The data were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the finding it was found that the students were having probem in the beginning of this implementation but finally they realized that this approach is much more helping them in learning translation/interpreting I.

Abstract

This is a descriptive qualitative research which aimed at finding the perception and obstacles of college students in writing. The subject of this research was all of students in English Education Department of STKIP Suar Bangli in academic year 2018/2019. There were three instruments used in this research, namely questionnaire, interview and documentation. From the data analysis it was found that students of English Education Department considered writing was important for them and considered as the second most important skill after speaking. Teaching writing skill should be taught through the process of writing (drafting, writing and revising) in relax and fun situation with many practices. The evaluation of writing should also provide feedbacks for their writing improvement. The most challenging obstacle that should be solved by the students was finding ideas. The students also proposed some reasons that may trigger them to write such as having idea/inspiration, having assignment, being in a good mood, there is time allocation for writing, having motivation, and being in supportive situation and condition. It is also suggested to teach writing skill by using project-based learning through proper process of writing starting from pre-writing, drafting, writing, revision and editing. The evaluation was also in form of portfolio assessment.

Abstract

This research aimed at discovering the readiness of English teachers in implementing authentic assessment in Senior High Schools which would implement curriculum 2013 in Bangli Regency. This is an evaluative study with discrepancy analysis approach proposed by Provust. Here, the idealimplementation of authentic assessment was compared to the real implementation by the English teachers. Two English teachers in SMAN 2 Bangli and SMAN 1 Tembuku were taken as the subjects of the research. The objects involved planning, executing, and reporting of authentic assessment in the form of portfolio, performance, project, and self-assessment. To collect the data, three rubrics for planning, executing, and reporting with Likert scale were used. This research discovers: 1) interms of planning, the teachers’ readiness is classified into average, 2) in terms of execution, the teachers’ readiness is classified into not ready, and 3) in terms of reporting, the teachers’ readiness is classified into not ready. There were three main problems faced by the teachers in implementingauthentic assessment, namely: a) lack of authentic assessment knowledge, b) lack of experience in designing authentic assessment, and c) lack of sharing from friends who get workshop about authentic assessment. From this research, it is suggested that a) teachers to join workshop and toread references about authentic assessment, and b) government should held more workshop about authentic assessment.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the needs of students in the development of English for tourism learning materials at SMA Astika Dharma. This study used a descriptive method with reference to a qualitative approach. The research subjects of this field study were students of class X and XI of SMA Astika Dharma. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire technique to determine the needs of students in developing tourism learning materials. The instrument of data collection in this study was a questionnaire. This study uses descriptive statistical analysis techniques used to process questionnaire data on student needs in the development of tourism teaching materials at SMK Astika Dharma. The results showed that (1) English for Tourism is different from general English, (2) The digital teaching materials needed by students are digital teaching materials that are easily accessible, easy to understand, visually appealing, have audio access, and can be accessed anytime, (3) The language used for digital teaching materials for tourism English lessons is Indonesian and English (bilingual), (4) The form of digital tourism teaching materials desired by the majority of students is in the form of learning videos.

Abstract

This research is evaluation model research by using CIPP as the evaluation model on Teaching Assistance in SD Bali Bilingual School in Bangli Regency, Bali. The CIPP model is Context, Input, Process, and Product, this model is one of the models used frequently in educational evaluation. The implementation is used the evaluative model created by Stufflebeam. The evaluation specifications on teaching assistance at SD Bali Bilingual School in Bangli Regency which displays an average score on the context aspects in the teaching assistance program is 83% including the category good, while the input evaluation is 82% in the good category. The same is true for the process aspect, which has an 81% in the good category, and the product aspect is 80% enough category. This is consistent with research from the aspects of Context, Input, Process, and Product obtained with the good criteria. This can indicate that the Teaching Assistance program was well conducted in SD Bali Bilingual School, in Bangli Regency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berupa penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Tujuan dari dilaksanakannya penelitian ini untuk penanaman dan penguatan nilai-nilai karakter pada siswa melalui kegiatan Ratu Dongeng dalam pembentukan karakter siswa. Objek penelitian ini adalah nilai-nilai karakter yang berbasis Ratu Dongeng di desa Pempatan. Hasil penelitian kegiatan Ratu Dongeng ini dapat menguatkan 9 dimensi nilai-nilai karakter yang mendapatkan respons sangat sesuai, yaitu Religius, Disiplin, Kerja keras, Mandiri, Rasa ingin tahu, Semangat kebangsaan, Menghargai prestasi, Gemar membaca dan Tanggung jawab. Terdapat 7 nilai karakter lainnya yang mendapatkan responsesuai, yaitu Jujur, Toleransi, Cinta tanah air, Komunikatif, Cinta damai, Peduli lingkungan, dan Peduli sosial. Dimensi nilai karakter Kreatif dan Demokratis mendapatkan respon yang kurang sesuai.

Abstract

E-learning is an application of information technology in education. Students could communicate at any time and location because digital learning resources were distributed and accessible via the network. This research was to investigate the extent to which students are prepared to participate in e-learning. The research methodology employed was descriptive quantitative. The research sample consisted of 62 students of the English Education Study Program ITP Markandeya Bali. Students answered 27 points of questionnaires based on evaluation models Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP). The distribution of data acquisition was repeated to ensure data consistency. Students’ readiness to participate in e-learning was measured using the CIPP model, with the following results: (1) Context aspects of 84.675% (High), (2) Input aspects of 83.86% (High), (3) Process aspects of 90.6% (Very High), and (4) Product aspects of 91.4% (Very High). Some recommendations are added to this research.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the needs of teachers in the process of implementing learning in 1st-grade elementary school and to develop e-flashcard vocabulary on I Like Fruits material as a learning media assisted by Heyzine flipbook. This level 1 development research design refers to the development research design described by Sugiyono, which includes research and information gathering, planning, developing the initial form of the product, initial field trials, and revising the main product. The subject of this research is a first-grade English teacher. The object of development is vocabulary e-flashcards for first-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Mas. The validation was conducted by an expert who is a lecturer at the Institute of Technology and Education, Markandeya Bali, and an English teacher at SD Negeri 2 Mas. The validation level of vocabulary e-flashcards was analyzed with descriptive statistics using a Likert scale. The results obtained on the e-flashcard vocabulary material I Like Fruits grade one elementary school obtained very valid results with an average score of 4.91. The results of the first expert assessment amounted to 4.85, the results of the second expert assessment amounted to 4.96, and the results of the third expert assessment amounted to 4.96 from the predetermined interval scale. The implications of this study focus on the use of e-flashcard learning media to improve efficiency and adaptability, thus increasing the effectiveness of the e-flashcard learning method.

Abstract

Purpose: This research is aimed at describing the values contained in the magebagan tradition in Bali in terms of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a qualitative approach which is explained descriptively. Research data was collected through observation, interviews and literature review. Data were analyzed and described qualitatively Findings: It was found that in the parhyangan aspect the value contained is respect and devotion to ancestors which is vertically the same as the relationship between humans and God through ancestors. In the pawongan aspect, the magebagan tradition is very full of meaning of solidarity, solidity and mutual cooperation. From the palemahan aspect, through the magebagan tradition, safe and comfortable conditions will be created for the bereaved family spiritually and materialistically. Implications: The magebagan tradition is not free from negative stereotypes but this tradition is also full of meaning. Negative practices that can reduce the meaning of this tradition need to be reduced so that later this tradition can remain the color of the noble Balinese culture.

Abstract

Penggunaan game edukasi berbasis Wordwall dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menunjukkan dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap pengalaman belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana Wordwall dapat meningkatkan motivasi, pemahaman materi, dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses belajar. Melalui wawancara dengan siswa kelas X di SMK Negeri 1 Bangli, ditemukan bahwa penggunaan Wordwall menjadikan pembelajaran lebih interaktif, menyenangkan, dan efisien. Siswa melaporkan peningkatan motivasi berkat elemen kompetisi yang ada, serta kemudahan dalam memahami materi melalui tampilan yang menarik dan fitur-fitur interaktif. Meskipun demikian, beberapa tantangan seperti keterbatasan koneksi internet dan batas waktu dalam menjawab pertanyaan juga dihadapi siswa. Namun, siswa berhasil mengatasi kesulitan ini melalui diskusi kelompok dan dukungan dari guru. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Wordwall adalah alat yang efektif dalam mendukung pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, tetapi keberhasilannya sangat bergantung pada faktor-faktor seperti ketersediaan perangkat, koneksi internet yang stabil, dan kemampuan guru dalam mengelola kelas. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi penuh dari game edukasi ini dalam konteks pembelajaran yang lebih luas.
