Abstract

Islam masuk ke Nusantara sebagaimana diuangkapkan oleh (Hasyimi, 1975) pertama kali ke Perlak dibawa oleh tim dakwah pimpinan nahkoda khalifah. Mereka terdiri dari orang-orang yang mempunyai ilmu pengetahuan. Sampai di Perlak mereka melakukan dakwah bil hal. Mereka mengajarkan rakyat cara bertani yang baik, cara berdagang yang berhasil, cara bertukang yang menguntungkan, cara berumah tangga yang bahagia dan sebagainya. Akhirnya rakyat sadar bahwa apa yang diberikan kepada mereka adalah dari ajaran Islam. Maka para penguasa dan rakyat dengan sukarela masuk Islam, dan pada tahun 225 H (840 M) berdirilah kerajaan Islam Perlak dengan Sultan Alaidin Syed Maulana Abdul Aziz Syah menjadi raja Islam yang pertama dan bergelar Sultan Alaidin Sayyid Maulana Abdul Aziz Syah, putra seorang anggota tim dakwah khalifah yang bernama Ali bin Muhammad bin Ja`far Shadiq yang dinikahkan dengan Makhdum Tansyuri, adik dari Syahir Nuwi. Kerajaan Samudera Pasai didirikan oleh Marah Silu, yang bergelar Sultan Malik as-Saleh, sekitar tahun 1267. Keberadaan kerajaan ini juga tercantum dalam kitab Rihlah ilal Masyriq (Pengembaraan ke Timur) karya Abu Abdullah ibn Batuthah (1304– 1368), musafir Maroko yang singgah ke negeri ini pada tahun 1345. Kesultanan Pasai akhirnya runtuh setelah serangan Portugal pada tahun 1521.

Abstract

Pendidikan Islam merupakan institusi peradaban yang telah memainkan peran sentral dalam membentuk identitas umat Islam sepanjang sejarah. Dari masa klasik hingga kontemporer, sistem pendidikan Islam mengalami dinamika yang kompleks seiring dengan perubahan sosial, politik, dan epistemologis yang melingkupinya. Dalam konteks Indonesia, transformasi pendidikan Islam tidak hanya bersifat struktural-institusional, melainkan juga ideologis dan paradigmatik, sebagaimana terlihat dari berbagai diskursus yang berkembang: mulai dari dikotomi ilmu, proyek Islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan, hingga wacana integrasi dan interkoneksi antara ilmu agama dan ilmu umum.Salah satu problem epistemologis utama yang masih mewarnai wajah pendidikan Islam kontemporer adalah dikotomi antara ilmu agama dan ilmu umum, warisan dari kolonialisme Barat yang memisahkan otoritas keilmuan spiritual dan rasional. Bahwa dualisme ini telah menyebabkan keterputusan antara nalar keislaman dan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan modern, sehingga menciptakan keterbelakangan epistemik di kalangan institusi pendidikan Islam. Dikotomi tersebut tidak hanya memengaruhi struktur kurikulum, tetapi juga menciptakan keraguan identitas akademik di kalangan pelajar dan pendidik Muslim.

Abstract

Perkembangan peradaban manusia di era modern membawa kemajuan pesat dalam ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan profesi. Namun, di balik kemajuan tersebut muncul berbagai tantangan sosial seperti menurunnya solidaritas, melemahnya kepedulian, serta meningkatnya pelanggaran etika profesional. Fenomena ini menunjukkan adanya krisis moral yang memerlukan pedoman etik berlandaskan nilai spiritual dan kemanusiaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis relevansi dan implementasi nilai-nilai hadis dalam pembentukan etika sosial dan profesi di era modern. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah studi pustaka (library research) dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis melalui telaah terhadap hadis-hadis sahih dan literatur terkait etika Islam. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa hadis menekankan kejujuran, amanah, empati, dan tanggung jawab sebagai dasar pembentukan integritas sosial dan profesional. Implementasi nilai-nilai profetik tersebut terbukti relevan untuk memperkuat karakter individu dan menumbuhkan budaya kerja yang bermoral, sehingga mampu menjadi solusi strategis dalam menghadapi krisis etika di tengah arus globalisasi.

Abstract

This article explores the dynamics of Islamic theology by examining the conceptual development of major theological schools from the Khawarij to contemporary thought. The study seeks to illuminate their historical emergence, intellectual frameworks, and the transformation of doctrinal positions across different periods of Islamic history. Using a literature-based research method, this work analyzes classical theological texts alongside modern scholarly interpretations. The findings reveal that each theological tradition was shaped by distinctive social, political, and intellectual circumstances, resulting in diverse perspectives on human agency, divine justice, and the role of religion in public life. The discussion further demonstrates that contemporary Islamic theology increasingly adopts critical, dialogical, and human-centered approaches in response to modern challenges. Overall, the study highlights the adaptive and evolving character of Islamic theology in engaging with changing societal contexts.

Abstract

The development of Islamic theology (Ilmu Kalam) reflects a long intellectual journey shaped by political, social, and philosophical dynamics from the early period of Islam to the contemporary era. This article explores the evolution of theological thought ranging from classical schools such as the Khawarij, Mu’tazilah, Asy’ariyah, and Maturidiyah to modern inclusive theology. Using a qualitative library research method, this study examines how debates on divine justice, human free will, and the nature of God contributed to the emergence of various theological orientations. The findings reveal that classical theology emerged primarily as a response to political conflict and interaction with foreign philosophical traditions, especially Greek rationalism. In contrast, modern theology emphasizes inclusive, humanistic, and contextual approaches, represented by thinkers such as Nurcholish Madjid, Fazlur Rahman, and Hasan Hanafi. Their ideas shift theological discourse from a rigid, apologetic pattern toward a paradigm that promotes pluralism, social ethics, and interreligious engagement. This study concludes that Islamic theology remains dynamic and relevant, as it continues to negotiate between tradition and modernity, reason and revelation, and exclusivism and inclusivism.

Abstract

This article explores the educational thought of two influential Muslim scholars, Al-Ghazali and Fazlur Rahman, through a philosophical and comparative perspective. The study aims to analyze their concepts of Islamic education, their intellectual foundations, and the relevance of their ideas for contemporary educational development. Using a qualitative library research approach, the article examines primary and secondary sources related to both scholars and identifies the distinctive characteristics of their educational paradigms. The findings reveal that Al-Ghazali emphasizes spiritual purification, ethical formation, and the integration of knowledge and moral action, while Fazlur Rahman advocates neo-modernist reform, critical reasoning, and integration between religious and scientific knowledge. Despite their different contexts, both highlight the importance of holistic human development. This study concludes that combining Al-Ghazali’s moral–spiritual framework with Rahman’s intellectual–critical paradigm provides a relevant foundation for formulating contemporary Islamic education that is spiritually rooted, intellectually dynamic, and responsive to modern challenges.

Abstract

Ijtihad, mufti, and fatwa constitute fundamental elements in the Islamic legal system that ensure the continuity and adaptability of Sharia law across changing times. In the contemporary era, the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) introduces new dynamics in Islamic legal scholarship, particularly in relation to legal reasoning and fatwa issuance. This study aims to examine the position of ijtihad, mufti, and fatwa in the age of AI and to analyze the extent to which AI can be utilized without replacing the authority of human scholars. The research employs a qualitative approach through library research, drawing on classical and contemporary works of usul al-fiqh, scholarly journal articles, and official documents from religious institutions. The findings indicate that AI lacks essential epistemological and ethical qualities required for ijtihad, such as moral responsibility, intention, and contextual understanding of social realities and maqasid al-shari‘ah. Consequently, AI cannot function as a mujtahid or mufti in determining Islamic legal rulings. Instead, it may serve as a supportive tool to assist scholars in accessing legal sources, conducting textual analysis, and managing religious data more efficiently. The study also identifies key ethical challenges related to authority, accountability, data bias, and contextual sensitivity that must be addressed to ensure responsible use of AI in Islamic law. This research contributes conceptually by clarifying the methodological boundaries of AI in Islamic legal reasoning and emphasizing the continued central role of qualified scholars in fatwa formulation.
