Abstract

This research was motivated by the low understanding of science concepts in elementary school students. This study aims to describe an increase in understanding of science concepts learned using the RADEC model (Read, Answers, Discuss, Explain and Create). This research is a quantitative research with quasi-experimental methods and uses pretest and posttest research designs. The object of this study is all grade V students of SDN 2 Bunder-Purwakarta for the 2022 / 2023 school year, the number of 2 classes each class consists of 32 students. Data collection techniques use tests, questionnaires, observations and documentation. Instruments to measure students' understanding of science concepts using pretests and posttests. The findings of the researchers that the model used has not been said to have an effect on increasing the understanding of the concept of science class V because of the strength of the two models used in learning, And also because of the low interest in reading students who are not used to looking for theoretical information first before being discussed by the teacher, this RADEC model plays a role for students to be more independent and active so that both teachers and students can both learn and teachers as facilitators. This is evidenced by the results of the n-gain test which shows almost the same average value. However, this radec learning model can create a conducive classroom atmosphere and students can play an active role in their classes and can increase student learning motivation, it can be seen from the scores that students get the average posttest results of experimental classes of 94 with the lowest score of 90 and the highest 100. While the posttest control class had an average score of 91 with the smallest score of 72 and a higher score of 98.

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is one of the important competencies that must be developed in every math topic, because mathematical communication can help students in building mathematical knowledge. However, the facts in the field, students' mathematical communication skills are still low. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Visualization, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model on the mathematical communication skills of fourth grade students at SDN Maracang on the circumference and area of flat shapes. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a research design Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. The population in this study were fourth grade students at SDN Maracang and the samples taken were grades IV B and IV D with 24 students each. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique with certain considerations. Data collection techniques used are tests and questionnaires. Data analysis in this study used the t-test of N-gain data which was preceded by normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the study obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there was an effect of the VAK learning model on students' mathematical communication skills. From the results of the N-gain test, it was found that there was an increase in mathematical communication skills with the average N-gain of the experimental class was 0.4921 in the medium category and the control class average was 0.0404 with the low category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of the VAK learning model has more influence on mathematical communication skills than the use of conventional learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the application of the Picture and Picture (PAP) learning model on the learning outcomes of IPAS elementary school students, especially grade IV at SDN 6 Sindangkasih Purwakarta Regency. This study used a preexperimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest type of research. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling type, because all populations were used as samples. The research instrument used was a test question in the form of a description. The research data were statistically analyzed through normality test, homogeneity test, and Paired Sample Test. Based on the results of the research conducted, the Picture and Picture learning model on the learning outcomes of IPAS elementary school students can be said to have an effect.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of concept understanding among elementary school students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), particularly on the topic of the states of matter and their changes, which was caused by teacher-centered learning and the limited use of innovative learning media. This study aims to determine the level of students' IPAS concept understanding before and after the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the Qreatif Educative digital media, as well as to analyze its impact on improving the IPAS concept understanding of fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Sukajadi Purwakarta. This study employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The research sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique, involving 32 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through a concept understanding test and analyzed using the N-Gain test and paired samples t-test. The results showed that the average pretest score of 51.56 increased to 72.97 in the posttest, with an average N-Gain of 0.45, categorized as moderate. The paired samples t-test results showed a t-value of 22.48 with a significance of 0.000 (< 0.05), so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can therefore be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the Qreatif Educative digital media had a positive and significant impact on improving elementary school students' IPAS concept understanding. This study recommends that teachers adopt this model as an alternative approach in IPAS learning, and that future researchers develop research designs with control groups and larger samples. Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology demands innovation in the learning process at elementary schools, particularly in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, which is still largely taught conventionally, resulting in low active student participation. One learning media innovation that has emerged is the SMART BOARD, a digital technology-based interactive whiteboard that enables the delivery of material in a more visual, interactive, and engaging way. This study aims to determine the impact of using SMART BOARD learning media on student learning outcomes in the IPAS subject at the elementary school level. The method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, involving 56 fourth-grade students of SDN Barunagri, divided into an experimental class (using the SMART BOARD) and a control class (using conventional methods). Data were collected through learning outcome tests, student response questionnaires, and learning activity observation sheets, then analyzed using the Normality test, N-Gain test, and Independent t-test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class reached 88.37, much higher than that of the control class (64.29). The N-Gain value of the experimental class fell into the high category (0.8013), indicating a significant improvement in learning outcomes. The independent t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H₀) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H₁). Thus, the use of SMART BOARD learning media has a significant and more effective impact on improving student learning outcomes in the IPAS subject compared to conventional learning. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers and schools in developing technology-based learning media.
