Abstract

This study evaluates the carrying capacity of Litopenaeus vannamei ponds based on water quality parameters in Purworejo Village, East Lampung, Indonesia. Water samples were collected from five ponds over a 90-day culture period, measuring physicochemical parameters including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), salinity, ammonia, nitrite, and hardness. Results showed temperature ranging from 28 to 31°C, pH 7.5 to 8.2, DO 6.8 mg/L, salinity 15–22 ppt, ammonia 0.02 to 0.07 mg/L, nitrite 0.05 to 0.12 mg/L, and hardness 1,200 to 2,300 mg/L. Most values were within the optimal ranges for vannamei shrimp culture according to FAO and national standards, although DO fluctuations and elevated nitrite levels may constrain stocking density. These findings indicate that the studied ponds remain suitable, with an estimated optimal carrying capacity of 80–100 shrimp/m². This study provides baseline data for water quality management and sustainable stocking strategies in vannamei shrimp aquaculture at Purworejo Village, Pasir Sakti Subdistrict, East Lampung District, East Lampung.

Abstract

Limbah pendederan ikan kerapu bebek (Cromileptes altivelis), kaya akan nitrogen (N) dan fosfor (P), berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila dibuang tanpa pengolahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan konsentrasi optimal limbah pendederan tersebut sebagai media kultur Spirulina sp. skala menengah. Limbah disaring (filter 25 µm) dan disterilkan menggunakan autoklaf (121°C, 15 menit, 1 atm) pada konsentrasi 10%, 15%, 20% dan 25%. Kultur dilakukan selama 9 hari dalam wadah fiberglass volume 15 L, diinokulasi dengan kepadatan awal 1 x 106 sel mL-1, diaerasi secara terus-menerus, dan diberikan pencahayaan. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga ulangan untuk mengevaluasi laju pertumbuhan Spirulina sp., penurunan konsentrasi nitrat dan fosfat, serta parameter kualitas air (suhu, salinitas, pH, dan intensitas cahaya). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan limbah 20% menghasilkan kepadatan tertinggi (6,43 x 106 sel m L-1) dan efisiensi penurunan konsentrasi nitrat sebesar 96,0% (dari 5,99 ± 0,13 mg L-1 menjadi 0,24 ± 0,05 mg L-1) dan penurunan fosfat sebesar 67,7% (dari 6,66 ± 0,34 mg L-1 menjadi 2,15 ± 0,32 mg L-1). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa limbah pendederan C. altivelis yang disterilisasi efektif digunakan sebagai media kultur Spirulina sp. skala menengah, dengan konsentrasi 20% memberikan hasil pertumbuhan, efisiensi penyerapan nutrien, dan kestabilan kualitas air terbaik, sehingga berpotensi diterapkan sebagai strategi bioremediasi berkelanjutan dalam konsep akuakultur sirkular.Effluent from humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) nursery operations is rich in nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), posing a risk of environmental pollution if discharged untreated. This study aimed to determine the optimal concentration of humpback grouper nursery effluent as a rearing medium for Spirulina sp. cultured at an intermediate scale. The effluent was filtered (25 µm) and sterilized using an autoclave (121°C, 15 minutes, 1 atm) at concentrations of 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Spirulina sp. was cultured at an initial density of 1 x 106 cells mL-1 in 15-L fiberglass tanks that were continuously aerated and illuminated for 9 days.  A completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications was used to evaluate the growth rate of Spirulina sp., the reduction of nitrate and phosphate concentrations, and water quality parameters (temperature, salinity, pH, and light intensity). Results showed that the 20% wastewater produced the highest cell density (6.43 × 10⁶ cells mL-1) and achieved a nitrate concentration reduction efficiency of 96.0% (from 5.99 ± 0.13 mg L-1 to 0.24 ± 0.05 mg L-1) and a phosphate reduction of 67.7% (from 6.66 ± 0.34 mg L-1 to 2.15 ± 0.32 mg L-1). This study demonstrated that sterilized effluent from humpback grouper nursery can be used as the rearing medium for Spirulina sp. cultured at an intermediate scale, with a 20% concentration providing optimal growth, nutrient removal efficiency, and stable water quality, thereby supporting its potential use as a sustainable bioremediation and circular aquaculture strategy.

Abstract

The carrying capacity of ponds in vaname shrimp farming is one of the factors supporting the productivity of aquaculture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the carrying capacity of vaname shrimp ponds in the aspects of water quality to determine efforts to develop vaname shrimp farming based on the carrying capacity of the pond environment. This research was conducted in Purworejo Village, Pasir Sakti District, East Lampung Regency. The research parameters observed included physical, chemical, and biological parameters of water. The results obtained were temperature 29°C, salinity 18.7–19.3 ppt, pH 8.1–8.3, Dissolved Oxygen (DO) 6.0–6.6 mg/l, Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN) 0.023–0.083 mg/l, nitrite 0.086–0.149 mg/l, Total Organic Matter (TOM) 63.3–72.3 mg/l, alkalinity 143–165 mg/l, hardness 1860–1933 mg/l, plankton abundance 776 x 103  – 1025 x 103  cell/ml, Total Vibrio Count (TVC) 1.83 x 103  – 2.30 x 103 . The conclusion obtained is that the physical and biological parameters of water quality are in optimal condition for vaname shrimp farming. In chemical parameters, the concentration of TOM exceeds the optimal limit, so it is necessary to do routine flushing and water changes.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Inovasi produk mie ikan patin dengan penambahan tepung porang menawarkan prospek yang menarik dalam upaya meningkatkan nilai gizi dan penerimaan masyarakat terhadap makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hasil uji organoleptik dan profil nilai gizi (protein, lemak, karbohidrat, serat kasar, kadar air, kadar abu) mie ikan patin dengan penambahan tepung porang yang berbeda. Metode penelitian dilakukan 4 perlakuan dengan 3 kali ulangan yaitu: P1(penambahan tepung porang 0%), P2 (penambahan tepung porang 25%), P3 (penambahan tepung porang 50%), dan P4 (penambahan tepung porang 75%). Data uji organoleptik dianalisis secara deskriptif, data pengujian proksimat dianalisis dengan ANOVA, apabila pada masing-masing formulasi terdapat perbedaan nyata, maka dilakukan uji lanjut DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) dengan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kesukaan panelis terhadap hasil uji organoleptik pada perlakuan P2 (penambahan tepung porang 25%) kategori tekstur dan aroma disukai panelis dengan persentase 48 – 67%, untuk kategori rasa perlakuan P1 (penambahan tepung porang 0%) disukai panelis dengan persentase 55 %, untuk kategori warna perlakuan P1 (penambahan tepung porang 0%) sangat disukai panelis dengan persentase 60%. Penambahan tepung porang dalam mie ikan patin memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap kadar air, protein, lemak, karbohidrat, abu dan serat kasar dalam mie ikan patin. Semakin banyak konsentrasi tepung porang meningkatkan kadar air, lemak, abu, dan serat kasar, sedangkan kadar protein dan karbohidrat cenderung menurun. Kata kunci: Ikan Patin, Mie, Tepung Porang.

Abstract

Shrimp farming is a business that is in great demand because it has promising prospects and profits. This study aims to analyze the mineral content of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming water in Purworejo Village, Pasir Sakti Subdistrict, Lampung Timur District. Mineral parameters observed were calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potassium (K), and sodium (Na). Water sample were taken at DOC 5, DOC 20, and DOC 35 in three different ponds. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The result obtained were Ca content ranging from 186,7-266,7 mg/L, Mg ranging from 307,4-396,4 mg/L, K ranging from 43,3-70,8 mg/L, and Na ranging from 1767,5-4308,6 mg/L. This indicates that the mineral content in vaname shrimp culture water is low because it is below the optimal standard range. Therefore, additional treatments is needed in the maintenance media so that the mineral content increases and supports the sustainability of vaname shrimp farming activities.
