Abstract

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is one of essential fatty acids that are beneficial to health. Nowadays, the source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is mainly obtained from fish which are extracted into fish oil products. However, the fish oil products still have some drawbacks in term of purity, acceptable flavor for costumers, and also their not environmental friendly production process. As an alternative solution, heterotrophic microalgae can be used as a potential source for DHA due to their excellence compared to fish oil products. The aim of this study is to isolate the heterotropic microalgae that can produce DHA. The heterotrophic microalgae were isolated from mangrove fallen leaves (Rhizophora apiculata) by using direct planting method. The morphology of pure microalgae colony were observed through light microscope and subsequently fermented for 14 days. Fatty acids were extracted and methylated through direct transesterification method. Identification and quantification of DHA were conducted by using gas chromatography. The results were four isolates of heterotropic microalgae, namely MTKC1, MTKC2, MTKC3, and MTKC4. The extract of MTKC2 that only showed the content of DHA with value of 9.2 % w/w. Therefore MTKC2 is a potential source for DHA. The MTKC2 was further identified by using molecular biology method and confirmed as Thraustochytrium aureum.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk memberikan informasi tentang pangan fungsional dan suplemen makanan serta memperkenalkan contoh produknya yaitu susu kedelai berbasis mikroalga. Metode kegiatan dalam bentuk sosialisasi dengan cara diskusi dan pembagian produk. Sasaran kepada masyarakat terutama ibu rumah tangga dengan jumlah yang hadir 43 orang. Untuk mengetahui pemahaman peserta dilakukan evaluasi dalam bentuk kuisioner sertatanya jawab terkait materi yang disampaikan. Hasil yang telah dicapai bahwa peserta dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan terkait produk nutrasetikal dengan presentase rerata 80-90%, serta diharapkan dapat membuat atau mengembangkan inovasi produk lainnya. Abstract: This community service aims to provide information about functional foods and food supplements and introduce microalgae based soy milk products. Methods in socialization activities by discussion and product distribution. The target for the community, especially recitation participants, with the number of people attending, is about 43 people. To find out the understanding of the evaluation participants in the form of questionnaires and questions and answers related to the material presented. The results can increase knowledge related to nutraceutical products with a precented of 80-90%, and create or develop other product innovations.

Abstract

Bencana banjir yang terjadi di Dusun Rangkasan, Desa Tarisi, Kecamatan Wanareja menyebabkan timbulnya penyakit pasca banjir yang dialami oleh masyarakat. Penyakit pasca banjir adalah suatu penyakit yang timbul setelah terjadinya bencana banjir diantaranya penyakit kulit (kurap), diare, demam dan lainnya yang terjadi apabila turunnya hujan deras setiap tahun, yang mengakibatkan air sungai meluap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan tingkat pengetahuan dan memberikan kontribusi dalam pemahaman masyarakat Dusun Rangkasan mengenai cara penanggulangan terhadap penyakit pasca banjir dengan menerapkan pola PHBS. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest Posttest Design dengan menganalisis data secara Deskriptif. Hasil yang didapatkan dengan adanya perbandingan usia, yaitu antara usia 22-27 tahun diperoleh nilai persentase tertinggi 30,43478 %. Sedangkan hasil dengan perbandingan pendidikan terakhir terdapat dalam pendidikan SMP dengan nilai persentase tertinggi 56,5 %.  Dapat disimpulkan terdapat 23 responden yang menghadiri penyuluhan ini dengan adanya perubahan signifikan sangat mempengaruhi terhadap data hasil perbandingan tingkat pengetahuan antar usia dengan pendidikan terakhir berdasarkan pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah penyampaian materi. The flood disaster that occurred in Rangkasan Hamlet, Tarisi Village, Wanareja District caused the emergence of post-flood diseases experienced by the community. Post-flood disease is a disease that arises after a flood disaster, including skin diseases (ringworm), diarrhea, fevers, and others that occur when there is heavy rain every year, which causes river water to overflow. This study aims to compare the level of knowledge and contribute to the understanding of the people of Rangkasan Hamlet regarding how to deal with post-flood diseases by applying the PHBS pattern. The method in this study used the One Group Pretest Posttest Design by analyzing the data descriptively. The results obtained by comparison of age, namely between the ages of 22-27 years, obtained the highest percentage value of 30.43478%. While the results with the last comparison of education are in junior high school education with the highest percentage value of 56.5%. It can be concluded that there were 23 respondents who attended this counseling with a significant change that greatly affected the data resulting from a comparison of knowledge levels between ages and recent education based on knowledge before and after delivering the material.Bencana banjir yang terjadi di Dusun Rangkasan, Desa Tarisi, Kecamatan Wanareja menyebabkan timbulnya penyakit pasca banjir yang dialami oleh masyarakat. Abstract

Pectin is a polymer of D-galacturonic acid linked by α-1,4 glycosidic bonds. Pectin is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, and beverage industries as a gelling agent and stabilizing agent. This study aims to utilize cotton banana skin waste as an alternative source of pectin and determine the levels of pectin added to make the best quality fragrant mango slice jam. Pectin from cotton banana peels was obtained by extraction using HCl solvent with a pH of 2.5 at 100°C for 120 minutes. The yield obtained was 8.67%. The pectin obtained was analyzed to meet the quality requirements for pectin, namely water content 9.85%, ash content 6.73%, equivalent weight 6,460.485 mg, methoxyl content 2.85%, galacturonic content 75.73%, degree of esterification 21.4 % and spectrum analysis Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and the best slice jam product was obtained with the addition of 1.5% pectin. Then the slice jam was analyzed, and the results obtained were 17.55% water content, 84.56% texture analysis, 70% total dissolved solids, and hedonic tests on the organoleptic of slice jam, namely color, aroma, taste, and texture, which, in general, the subject liked fruit slice jam fragrant mango with the addition of 1.5% pectin from cotton banana peels.

Abstract

Proses penuaan pada setiap orang akan terjadi secara alamiah dan tidak dapat dihindari. Banyak faktor yang menjadi penyebab proses penuaan lebih cepat dari waktu yang seharusnya, salah satunya adalah faktor eksternal seperti radikal bebas dan dari paparan sinar UV. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan sediaan serum wajah ekstrak etanol daun katuk (Sauropus androgynus L.Merr) sebagai antioksidan. Metode penelitian meliputi pengolahan daun katuk menjadi simplisia kering hingga diperoleh berupa serbuk halus, pembuatan ekstrak daun katuk dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%, skrining fitokimia, karakteristik ekstrak, pengujian antioksidan dengan metode DPPH menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 516 nm, pembuatan formula sediaan serum wajah dengan penambahan ekstrak etanol daun katuk dengan masing-masing konsentrasi 3% (F1), 5% (F2) dan 7% (F3) ke dalam serum. Evaluasi sediaan serum meliputi pengujian organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas dan daya sebar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun katuk bisa dikembangkan dalam serum wajah dengan hasil evaluasi semua formula sediaan yang baik memenuhi syarat diperoleh F3 sebagai formula terbaik dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 34,93 ppm termasuk kedalam kategori antioksidan sangat kuat. Dengan demikian sediaan serum ekstrak daun katuk bisa dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam mengurangi proses penuaan dini yang baik.
