Abstract

Abstract

Birds are wild animals that have a wide distribution, making birds one of the wild animals in the world with potential natural resources in Indonesia. This lesson aims to determine the bird diversity index in the Sekotong Tengah Coastal Area. The research was conducted in March-May 2024 in the Central Sekotong Coastal Area. The method used in this research is the exploration method by following the paths at the three observation locations. The research results showed that there were 23 families with a diversity index value of 3.986 in the Central Sekotong Coastal Area. Bird diversity in the central Sekotong Coastal Area is relatively high. Further research is recommended to determine the distribution of birds in the Sekotong Tengah Coastal Area to become a Birdwatching area.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the horizontal distribution of birds based on habitat type, namely fish ponds, rehabilitated mangroves, and natural mangroves, located in the Bagek Kembar Mangrove Area. Observations were conducted in June-July at the Bagek Kembar Mangrove Area, Sekotong. This research uses a transect method, following the paths found at three observation locations. Bird observations were conducted twice, in the morning (06:30-09:30 WITA) and evening (15:30-18:30 WITA). The results recorded 57 species, with the dominant habitat for finding bird species being the natural mangrove area, which has a fairly dense and diverse vegetation structure. The horizontal distribution of birds in the Bagek Kembar Mangrove Area is illustrated using CANOCO for Windows 4.5 with a PCA (Principal Component Analysis) diagram. This study concludes that bird diversity is higher in natural mangrove habitats compared to fishpond and rehabilitated mangrove habitats, making this area important for supporting conservation and the development of birdwatching ecotourism.

Abstract

Abstract

Butterflies (order Lepidoptera) are a group of insects that have an important role in ecosystems as pollinators, part of the food chain, and bioindicators of environmental quality. The diversity of butterflies also contributes to the aesthetic value and ecotourism potential of an area. This study aims to identify the types of butterflies and analyze their diversity and abundance in the Kelantangan Nature Tourism Park (TWA), West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The survey was conducted using the visual transect method along the observation path at the active time of the butterflies, namely morning and noon. Data were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), the Simpson dominance index (D), and the uniformity index (E). The results of the study show that the TWA Kerandangan area has a moderate to high level of butterfly diversity, with several species classified as endemic and indicators of habitat quality. The existence of different types of host plants and natural vegetation supports the diversity of species found. These findings show the importance of the role of the TWA Kerandangan area as an insect habitat and support the urgency of sustainable conservation management. In addition, the results of this research can be used as a basis for the development of biodiversity-based educational ecotourism in the region.
