Abstract

Abstract Flores Pos is one of the most popular and historic newspapers in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This newspaper is very well known, accepted and made as one of the information references. Until now, Flores Pos is still present and able to survive in the midst of media competition and the development of information technology, although the appearance is still old-fashioned. This fact requires the editor of Flores Pos to determine the editorial policy of their institutions in order to be able to survive in the competition. This study aims to find out how Flores Pos editorial policy in maintaining its existence. This research uses descriptive qualitative analysis method used in this study and uses descriptive data that presents written and oral words from the subject and observable behavior. This research requires informants to obtain data and facts from a phenomenon. The object of this research is the Flores Pos newspaper. For data collection using direct observation, interviews, and literature studies. While at the stage of data analysis it is carried out through data collection, reducing data, presenting data and making conclusions. The findings in the study show that, 1) Editor of Flores Pos has the concept of editorial policy that has been designed and used for a long period of time. 2) In its reporting, Flores Pos chose to accommodate the interests of the community. 3) In maintaining its existence, the editor of Flores Pos seeks to always prioritize the power of its reporting and choose not to converge media. 4) Flores Pos adheres to its idealism and vision and mission as guidelines for internal policies that are umbrella in the Press Law and Journalistic Code of Ethics. Abstract

Abstract: Learn from home has become a new trend today. This study examines how the communication gap that occurs between parents and children in the online learning process during the covid-19 pandemic. The method used is a case study, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation review. The results of the study indicate that quite a number of problems have arisen against this government policy, and one of them is the communication problem of parents in their unpreparedness having a dual role in their upbringing as teachers, motivators and facilitators for their children. In addition, other problems such as supporting facilities, social environment and children's mentality are other obstacles that contribute to creating a communication gap between parents and children. Through this research, it is hoped that the communication relationship between parents and children should be a priority, so that the current pandemic situation does not necessarily reduce children's interest in learning and academic potential. Keywords: Communication Gap, Online Learning, Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Peran perempuan Adonara jika dilihat dari mata masyarakat luar tidak banyak memiliki kontribusi dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat karena sistem patriaki yang sangat kuat dianut oleh masyarakat Adonara. Akan tetapi, masyarakat Adonara sendiri mempercayai bahwa perempuan adalah sumber dari setiap individu manusia. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan tujuan menjelaskan mengenai fenomena realitas peran perempuan Adonara dalam perhelatan pernikahan dan kematian dengan sedalam-dalamnya serta didukung dengan data lain, seperti dokumentasi dan hasil observasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan mengenai fenomena realitas peran perempuan Adonara dalam perhelatan pernikahan dan kematian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam proses upacara adat dari perhelatan pernikahan dan kematian di Adonara, dapat dilihat dari peran perempuan dalam mempersiapkan hantaran seperti sarung tenun, selendang atau kain dalam upacara pernikahan dan kematian serta peran perempuan sebagai bine yang mempunyai kewajiban untuk membantu saudara laki-lakinya dengan membawa hewan seperti babi atau kambing dalam upacara kematian.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The field of managing public opinion and aspiratios, Sikka Diskominfo uses instagram as a public information medium for Sikka district. With instagram, Diskominfo Sikka should be able to facilitate communication between the government and the public. However, in practice the communication that occurs is less effective on the @InfoSikka account. This research aims to find out of the reasons why Diskominfo Sikka uses instagram as a means of disseminating information and secondly how the field of managing public opinion and aspiratios manages instagram conten as a public news. This research is qualitative research with the consept of a public relations model. This research approach is descriptive analysis, post positivm paradigm, and case study method. The result of this research show that Diskominfo Sikka chose instagram as as a public information because of the large number of application users, as well as the convenience, speed and visual features it offers. Diskominfo Sikka spreads News in the form of press release content, although few people respond, Diskominfo Sikka continues to consistenly produce news every day so that there is always information about Sikka district. Keywords: Instagram, Media Information, Sikka Regency

Abstract

Mass media plays an essential role in delivering information to a wide and diverse audience, including in economic reporting. Journalistic language, as a medium of mass communication, must adhere to the principles of clarity and simplicity to enhance readers' understanding. However, the implementation of journalistic language in online media is often suboptimal, with various issues such as ineffective sentences, improper spelling, and inefficient word usage. This study focuses on the application of journalistic language in reporting on MSMEs in the online media Ekorantt.com. This research employs a qualitative approach with observation, document study, and text analysis methods on three selected news articles. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that although the three articles have implemented most of Hemingway's principles, such as using short, active, and simple sentences, several deficiencies remain, such as repeated information, lengthy compound sentences, and irrelevant phrases. In conclusion, by simplifying sentences, enhancing language efficiency, and avoiding irrelevant elements, text quality can be improved to meet Hemingway's journalistic standards, producing clearer, more engaging, and efficient news articles.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the optimization of the role of the Protocol and Communication of the Leadership (Prokompim) of the Sikka Regency Secretariat in providing public information services through the Sikka Buletin Facebook account. The focus of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of social media content management and communication strategies to increase public involvement. A qualitative approach is used to describe content management based on observations, interviews, and documentation studies. Data were collected through interviews with the admin of the Sikka Buletin Facebook account and followers as well as analysis of published content. The data analysis technique adopted the Flow Analysis Models of Miles and Huberman, which include data reduction, data presentation, and verification to produce in-depth understanding. The results of the study indicate that although Prokompim has attempted to manage content using the 5W1H elements with a formal but relaxed communication style, there are still challenges in increasing audience engagement. The main findings include low public interaction with posted content and less than optimal time and collaboration in content management. This study recommends a more planned time management strategy, collaboration with related agencies to enrich content, and a focus on audience engagement to strengthen the relationship between the government and the community through social media.

Abstract

This research explores the editorial strategies implemented by the editorial team of Ekora NTT, a local media in East Nusa Tenggara, in improving news quality in the digital era. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research analyses the news production process that involves multiple fact verifications, the use of supporting technology, and continuous training. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, internal document analysis, and direct observation. The findings show that these strategies significantly improve the accuracy and relevance of news despite challenges such as limited human resources and infrastructure. These results support previous literature, including studies by Hermida (2019) and Newman et al. (2022), which highlight the importance of synergy between technological innovation and capacity building of journalists in maintaining news quality. This research contributes to the development of mass communication theory and provides practical recommendations for other local media in addressing similar challenges. By adopting similar strategies, local media are expected to continue to act as a credible and relevant source of information for the public.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article discusses the role of the Instagram account "Jelajah Maumere" as an information platform for promoting culture in Sikka Regency. The account was initiated by the Sikka Regency Tourism and Culture Office as an effort to introduce local cultural richness to a broader audience (tourist information center). Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes content, user interactions, and the impact of the promotion. The results show that "Jelajah Maumere" has successfully enhanced the visibility of local culture and serves as an effective communication tool between the government and the community.

Abstract

The implementation of journalistic principles and the quality of reportage are essential for journalists to present accurate, credible, and relevant information, while also developing professional skills and building the campus media's reputation as a trusted news source within the university and the broader community. This study analyzes the performance of campus journalists at Nusa Nipa University, identifying three main issues: the gap between theoretical understanding and journalistic practice, limited development of essential journalistic skills, and challenges in producing high-quality reportage. Findings reveal that although journalists theoretically understand basic principles such as the 5W and 1H, their application in the field remains suboptimal, as reflected in shallow reports and inaccurate quotations. Both technical and non-technical competencies vary among journalists due to a lack of continuous training, hindering mastery of in-depth interviewing and on-camera presentation. In addition, campus journalists struggle to cope with time pressure and unexpected field conditions during coverage, resulting in reports lacking depth and context—further worsened by limited supporting equipment. Nevertheless, the positive potential demonstrated by some members indicates that, with proper guidance and support, the quality of campus journalism practice can be significantly improved, preparing more competent young journalists.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus kepada komunikasi pelayanan publik yang diterapkan di Dinas Kependudukan Dan Pencatatatan Sipil Kabupaten Sikka yang dimana sebagai dinas pelayanan yang intensitas berinteraksi dengan masyarakat umum. Hal inilah yang membuat peneliti tertarik ingin meneliti bagaimana komunikasi yang diterapkan di Dinas Kependudukan Dan Pencatatatan Sipil Kabupaten Sikka. Pelayanan yang baik tentu memiliki nilai lebih terhadap kinerja seseorang baik sikap maupun tuturkata. Pelayanan yang prima  akan menjadi nilai plus bagi pribadi maupun instansi dimana ia bekerja. Pelayanan publik juga menjadi salah satu aspek penting dalam penyelenggaraan pemerintahan yang bertujuan untuk memberikan layanan yang efektif, tepat, dan dapat dipertanggungjawabkan kepada masyarakat. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif agar dapat mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan mengenai komunikasi pelayanan publik sistem informasi administrasi kependudukan pada Dinas Kependudukan Dan Pencatatatan Sipil di Kabupaten Sikka. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa komunikasi pelayanan publik pada Dinas Kependudukan Dan Pencatatan Sipil Kabupaten Sikka perlu diupgrade dari segi kefasihan berkomunikasi pegawai serta arahan kepada masyarakat tentang prosedur pelayanan serta sarana prasarana yang harus diperhatikan agar dapat menunjang pelayanan administrasi dengan lebih efisien.
