Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between psychological stress and sleep quality among 12th-grade students in Jambi City in the lead-up to the state university admissions process. The study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design involving 38 students selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using the Indonesian version of the DASS-Y questionnaire developed by Muskar and Rosyad, with a reliability of 0.930 and item-total correlation validity ranging from 0.328 to 0.753, while the Indonesian version of the PSQI, developed by Fauzi et al., used Cronbach’s Alpha with a reliability of 0.803 and content validity (CVI) ranging from 0.92 to 1.00. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test after meeting the normality assumption based on the Shapiro-Wilk test. The results showed that most respondents had normal levels of psychological stress (65.79%), yet the majority experienced poor sleep quality (86.84%). The analysis showed a significant relationship between psychological stress and sleep quality (p = 0.007; r = 0.431). It was concluded that the higher the level of psychological stress, the poorer the sleep quality experienced by students.

Abstract

Psychological well-being describes a person's psychological success and capacity to accept himself, be able to socialize be able to control himself. Meanwhile, loneliness is a mental condition characterized by feelings of emptiness. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of psychological well-being relationship with loneliness using the quantitative method of the correlational method. This study uses a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method consisting of 70 Semester 2 Students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi. According to Ryfff's Scales of Psychological Well-Being and the Loneliness Scale, with the technical analysis of descriptive statistical program Jeffreys's Amazing Statistics Program versi 0.96.0. The results of the hypothesis test through correlation analysis showed a significant value with the direction of the negative relationship (inversely proportional) between psychological well-being and loneliness (r = -0.298; p = 0.012 < 0.05). This study indicates that the higher the psychological well-being of students, the lower the level of loneliness felt. On the other hand, low psychological well-being due to academic burden and lack of social support can increase feelings of isolation, so it is necessary to strengthen psychological aspects and adequate social support for early year students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of social media use and self-esteem among high school students in Jambi City. This study employs a quantitative approach using purposive sampling. The research subjects were 99 high school students in Jambi City who actively use social media. The instruments used were a social media usage intensity scale developed based on engagement, attention, duration, and frequency, as well as the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), which has been adapted into Indonesian. Normality tests were conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk test, which indicated that the data were normally distributed for the social media usage intensity variable (SW = 0.984; p = 0.291) and the self-esteem variable (SW = 0.977; p = 0.086). Data analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation, which indicated a significant negative relationship between the intensity of social media use and adolescents’ self-esteem (r = -0.261; p = 0.0009), with the strength of the relationship classified as weak. This means that the higher the intensity of social media use, the lower the self-esteem among adolescents. This study indicates a need for digital learning programs and psychological support to foster positive self-esteem development among adolescents who use social media.
