Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which Japanese language education standards, namely the JF Standard, are included in the existing Japanese grammar teaching materials. This study also examines the extent to which active learning is included in Japanese grammar teaching materials, and the extent to which the digital format of Japanese grammar teaching materials is adopted in existing teaching materials. This study uses research and development methods. The results showed that the Japanese education standard, namely the JF Standard, did not yet exist in the current Japanese grammar teaching materials, nor did the existing teaching materials adopt active learning and the format used was still an old format that did not use digital formats.

Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of a community service project that aims to develop a supporting book for the Grammar course for Japan language proficiency at the Senior High School Level in the Japan Language and Culture Study Program, Darma Persada University. This project was carried out from September 2023 to August 2024, involving a team consisting of four lecturers and three students. The main goal of the project is to overcome students' difficulties in understanding advanced Japan grammar by developing innovative and customized learning support books. The project methodology includes the preparation of a work plan, the collection of reference materials and the preparation of a book. The main result achieved is the preparation of supporting book modules for students in semesters 5 and 6. Despite facing time constraints, the team managed to complete the project's main target. The conclusion shows that this project has succeeded in producing learning resources that have the potential to improve the quality of advanced Japan grammar learning. The follow-up plan includes further trials and evaluations to ensure the effectiveness and usefulness of the supporting books. This project is not only beneficial to students and institutions, but also has the potential to make a positive contribution to the wider community of Japan language learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meriset fenomena sosial Nihon Shuwa (日本手話) yang dipresentasikan oleh tokoh Aoba dan Sou dalam Drama Silent. Penulis menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dekripsi oleh Moleong dengan metode kepustakaan dengan memahami fenomena melalui literatur buku maupun film mengenai apa yang dialami subjek penelitian secara menyeluruh dengan cara deskripsi dan dijelaskan dengan kata-kata serta bahasa, pada konteks khusus yang dialami serta dengan memanfaatkan berbagai metode ilmiah. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan Nihon Shuwa (日本手話) yang dilakukan tokoh Sou mengalami fenomena sosial. Fenomena sosial ini terjadi dikarenakan masyarakat Jepang yang tidak bisa menerima bahwa bahasa isyarat setara dengan bahasa lisan oleh karena itu dampak yang terjadi adalah diskriminasi terhadap masyarakat yang memiliki keistimewaan tunarungu. Penelitian ini tidak hanya memperlihatkan fenomena sosial yang terjadi tetapi juga sebagai pendorong agar fenomena sosial yang terjadi berkurang dan merubah cara pandang masyarakat terhadap masyarakat yang memiliki tunarungu.

Abstract

Japanese language education in Indonesia faces critical challenges in intermediate grammar instruction regarding alignment with international standards, active learning integration, and digital resource availability. This study evaluates existing intermediate Japanese grammar materials against JF Standard requirements and develops a practical framework for creating digital resources. Employing design-based research methodology, this study analyzed materials from 10 Indonesian universities, conducted needs analysis surveys with 105 intermediate learners, developed the "Nihongo with Irma Sensei" prototype, and validated materials through expert evaluation and field testing. Findings reveal substantial gaps: 0% inclusion of JF Standard components (Can-do statements, communicative competence frameworks, learner portfolios), 15% active learning integration, and 8% digital availability. Field testing showed 96% participant interest in digital materials and 96.1% acknowledged enhanced comprehension. The study identifies five best practices: contextualized presentation through multimedia, interactive exercises with immediate feedback, multimodal approaches, strict JF Standard alignment, and user-centered design. This research demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of JF Standard-aligned digital materials leveraging multimedia technologies to facilitate contextualized and communicative language learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi penyair terkait keterlibatan Jepang dalam perang pada puisi Hiroshima to Iu Toki dan puisi Nan no Tame ni Tatakatta no ka karya Sadako Kurihara. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analisis. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semiotika milik Michael Riffaterre, yang meliputi proses pembacaan heuristik dan pembacaan hermeneutik. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan pendekatan historis milik Hippolyte Adolphe Taine dalam penelaahan peristiwa-peristiwa masa lampau yang merepresentasikan karya sastra terhadap zaman ketika karya sastra tersebut dibuat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persepsi penyair terkait Jepang dan perang dalam puisi Hiroshima to Iu Toki adalah berupa protes terhadap kejahatan perang Jepang dan tanggung jawab perang kepada negara-negara yang telah dirugikan Jepang, serta himbauan perdamaian atas kejahatan tersebut. Persepsi penyair terkait Jepang dan perang dalam puisi Nan no Tame ni Tatakatta no ka adalah berupa protes terhadap keterlibatan kembali Jepang dalam perang yang tidak sesuai dengan isi Konstitusi Jepang Pasal 9.
