Abstract

The use of cosmetics such as lipstick aims to improve the natural appearance of the lips and induce discoloration. A problem that is often worrying about today is the presence of prohibited dyes in lipstick preparations' main components. Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye prohibited in cosmetics, especially lipsticks. This research aims to analyze the Rhodamine B dye in lipsticks that do not have a distribution permit from BPOM circulating in the Beriman Tomohon market.The research method was Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), followed by wavelength measurement on UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. The research population was all red lipstick preparations and 10 (ten) different lipsticks as a sample.Data analysis in this research is to find the RF value obtained from TLC then make a graph of the equation y = bx + a then look for the x value to measure the Rhodamine B content in lipstick. The results of this research were obtained from 1 (one) sample of lipstick label L(I) positive containing Rhodamine B. Visually, the lipstick of the L(I) label has a pink color and fluorescence orange when irradiated with 366nm UV, Rhodamine B has an Rf value of 0.85. In contrast, the L(I) sample has an Rf value of 0.84. Rhodamine B has a wavelength of 544nm, and the lipstick sample L(I) has an absorbance of 0.362 which has a Rhodamine B content of 0.4115%.

Abstract

Malay apple leaves (Syzygium malaccense L.) have traditionally been used to reduce fever. This study aimed to evaluate the antipyretic activity of the ethanol extract of Malay apple leaves in peptone-induced male white rats (Rattus norvegicus). A completely randomized design was used with five treatment groups: negative control (distilled water), positive control (paracetamol), and ethanol extract doses of 125, 250, and 500 mg/200 g body weight. Fever was induced by intramuscular injection of 5% peptone (1 mL/200 g body weight), and rectal temperature was recorded every 30 minutes for 180 minutes. Data were analyzed using Kruskal–Wallis followed by Mann–Whitney tests. The results showed that all extract doses reduced rectal temperature compared with the negative control, with the 500 mg dose producing the greatest antipyretic effect. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences among treatment groups (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the ethanol extract of Malay apple leaves possesses antipyretic activity in peptone-induced male white rats, with the 500 mg dose showing the highest effectiveness.

Abstract

Tuberkulosis (TB) merupakan penyakit menular kronis yang disebabkan oleh Mycobacterium dan masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global. Meskipun telah tersedia berbagai antibiotik, munculnya resistansi obat seperti multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB) menjadi tantangan serius dalam pengendalian TB. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas anti- Mycobacterium dari jamur simbion spons Stylissa sp. Serta mengidentifikasi jenis jamur simbion yang berpotensi. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental di laboratorium menggunakan metode difusi cakram (paper disc). Ekstrak jamur simbion diuji dalam lima konsentrasi (200, 300, 400, 500, 600 µg/disc) dengan tiga kali ulangan, menggunakan streptomycin sulfat sebagai kontrol positif dan alkohol 70% sebagai kontrol negatif. Mikroorganisme uji adalah Mycobacterium smegmatis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 12 ekstrak jamur simbion memiliki aktivitas anti-Mycobacterium pada konsentrasi 250 µg/disc dengan zona hambat 7–9 mm. Ekstrak nomor 12 (LS-10) menunjukkan aktivitas tertinggi sehingga dilanjutkan pada uji MIC dan MBC dengan hasil masing-masing 2,18 µg/disc dan 8,72 µg/disc. Identifikasi menunjukkan bahwa jamur simbion LS-10 memiliki kemiripan dengan genus Aspergillus sp. Temuan ini menunjukkan potensi jamur simbion spons Stylissa sp. Sebagai sumber senyawa anti-Mycobacterium baru.
