Abstract

The main problem faced by PT. KPBN Belawan is the low level of efficiency of boiler machines due to the lack of scheduled and systematic maintenance. Currently, the applicable maintenance system is preventive and corrective, which is ineffective due to the lack of attention from management and machine operators. Therefore, it is important to introduce a more effective and efficient maintenance system to maintain the performance of these machines. One approach that can be adopted is Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), which offers a more comprehensive maintenance strategy compared to other methods. By focusing on employee involvement, reducing downtime, cost efficiency, improving machine quality, increasing machine life, and improving workplace safety, TPM emerges as a very relevant and effective strategy to improve operational performance in the tank storage industry. This study aims to propose the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on boiler machines to overcome various problems faced by companies that utilize boiler machines in their production processes. To analyze the problem, the observer will assess the extent of the change in the effectiveness of the boiler machine operation and perform the following calculations: Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) analysis, OEE Six Big Losses analysis, and Pareto Diagram analysis. Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions can be drawn: Activities carried out on the boiler machine at PT. KPBN Belawan has produced an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value of 68.31% from May to October 2024, which is still below the standard threshold. From this study, several recommendations are proposed for the company: 1. Continuous calculation of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for production machines and equipment is needed to obtain the latest information for planning continuous machine repairs as an effort to increase production efficiency at PT. KPBN Belawan. 2. Measuring the effectiveness of the boiler machine using the OEE method requires further assessment and calculation to determine which of the Six Big Losses most significantly affects the decline in the effectiveness of the boiler machine.

Abstract

The project for the creation of the Life Conveyor at CV. Mabar Karya Utama is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and the company's competitiveness in the manufacturing industry. In the execution of this project, there are several key problems related to delays in completion and time management, which ultimately affect operational costs and production schedules. To address these issues, this research utilizes the Critical Path Method (CPM) as an analytical and planning tool to identify critical activities that determine the duration of project completion. The research is conducted using a case study approach at CV. Mabar Karya Utama through the collection of both primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained through in-depth interviews with the project managers, technicians, and operational staff, while secondary data is collected from internal documentation and previous project reports. Data analysis is performed by constructing a project network diagram that illustrates the relationships between activities and identifies the critical path that has no time slack. As a result, any delays in activities that fall within the critical path can directly impact the overall project duration. The analysis results indicate that the application of the CPM method can pinpoint weaknesses in the initial planning, such as suboptimal resource allocation and the lack of synergistic coordination between departments. With this identification, management can efficiently take corrective actions, such as redistributing resources and establishing more appropriate activity priorities. Furthermore, the use of CPM also allows for real-time monitoring of project progress, enabling proactive implementation without frequent dialysis. The conclusion of this study states that the Critical Path Method has proven effective in enhancing the efficiency of project completion time for the Life Conveyor creation at CV. Mabar Karya Utama. The application of CPM not only aids in schedule control but also provides a clearer picture of the workflow process and identifies obstacles encountered during implementation. Thus, it is hoped that the company can apply the findings from this research as a foundation for future project management improvements, thereby increasing productivity and positively impacting the overall performance of the company. From the results of a study, several results can be concluded, namely: 1) The critical path method (CPM) can be applied in the Life Conveyor manufacturing project at CV Mabar Karya Utama by identifying project activities, as well as determining the sequence of work again, calculating the completion time of each task, and finding the critical path that determines the minimum project time. 2) There are 11 critical paths that affect the progress of this project A1 + B1 + B2 + B3 + B4 + F1 + F2 + G1 + H1 + H2 + I1 and the path that has the most influence is when paths B3 and B4 are accelerated for 4 days. 3) The project completion time was 27 days with a total crashing cost of Rp. 309,545,750., - with an optimization level of acceleration of work time of 12.96%.

Abstract

This study analyzes the turning process of a 6X8T gear sprocket at CV. Anugrah Prima Metalindo. The advancement of the manufacturing industry demands efficient and high-quality production processes, particularly in the manufacturing of mechanical components such as sprockets. This research aims to understand the stages of the turning process, identify existing problems, and evaluate the effectiveness of machining parameters in producing high-quality products. The research methodology includes direct observation, qualitative data collection, and technical analysis of the turning process. The tested parameters include spindle speed, tool angle, and casting techniques for the workpiece. The results indicate that variations in tool angles (60°, 70°, and 80°) and spindle speeds (ranging from 200 rpm to 1100 rpm) influence the surface roughness of the workpiece. A spindle speed of 1100 rpm with an 80° tool angle produced the best surface quality. Additionally, several challenges in the casting process were identified, such as air cavity defects and mold misalignment, which affected the final product quality. An evaluation of occupational health and safety (OHS) aspects was also conducted to enhance worker protection during manufacturing operations. The study concludes that optimizing machining parameters can improve the quality of the sprocket turning process, and stricter OHS standards are necessary to enhance workplace safety. Recommendations for improvement include optimizing the sand mold mixture, refining mold design, and ensuring the use of personal protective equipment for workers.

Abstract

There are obstacles in the tapioca flour processing process at PT. Florindo Makmur, namely production capacity has not been utilized properly because the supply of raw materials and the public's interest in planting cassava affects tapioca production. The smoothness of the production process will not run smoothly if the control of raw materials does not match customer demand, therefore controlling raw material inventory is very important for the company. In order to meet the uncertainty of consumer orders. One step that can be taken so that smooth production continues to run optimally is to design good and correct raw material inventory control. Therefore, based on the considerations above, it is hoped that the company can build cooperation with suppliers. From this problem, the researcher conducted a problem analysis to predict whether the supply of cassava raw materials at PT. Florindo Makmur has a positive effect on its production process. To solve the existing problem, the following calculation analysis is needed: Linear regression method analysis, Partial Hypothesis Test (t-Test), Determination Coefficient Test (R2). Based on the research that has been conducted on the analysis of the problem to determine the effect of cassava raw material inventory on the tapioca flour production process at PT. Florindo Makmur, the following conclusions can be drawn: The results of the linear regression calculation in 2023 obtained a value of Y = -31.707 + 0.261X and in 2024 obtained a value of Y = -165.529 + 0.274X. The results of the partial calculation (t-test) in 2023 obtained a t-count value of 87,072 and in 2024 obtained a t-count value of 58,148. The results of the calculation of the coefficient of determination (R2) in 2023 were 99.9% and in 2024 were 99.7%. Based on the results of this study, PT. Florindo Makmur is expected to be able to determine the amount of safety stock that must be in the warehouse to anticipate a shortage of cassava raw materials and result in the production process being stopped for 1 or 2 days. PT. Florindo Makmur should work together with farmers to provide training on good cassava planting issues so as to provide good harvest results. This can maintain the availability of raw materials and the sustainability of the production process of PT. Florindo Makmur

Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasingly complex industrial competition, the digitalization of Supply Chain Management (SCM) has become a key strategy for enhancing efficiency, responsiveness, and competitive advantage. This study aims to examine the role of digital transformation in supply chain management through a literature review of 20 national and international journal articles published between 2017 and 2025. The analysis reveals that SCM digitalization—through the integration of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and blockchain—can significantly improve data visibility, accelerate real-time information flow, and support analytics-based decision-making. This transformation not only drives operational efficiency but also strengthens collaboration and supply chain resilience. However, the adoption of digital technologies still faces various challenges, including infrastructure limitations, high investment costs, and insufficient human resource readiness. Several studies also highlight that the impact of digitalization on product quality and sustainability is not yet optimal without improvements in quality management systems and supportive regulations. Therefore, sustainable and context-specific implementation strategies, as well as collaboration among government, industry, and academia, are essential. This study recommends further exploration of inclusive digital adoption models, cybersecurity reinforcement, and the integration of digital SCM aligned with sustainability and resilience principles to face global disruptions. With the right approach, SCM digitalization can serve as a strategic foundation for building adaptive, efficient, and competitive supply chains in the Industry 4.0 era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the posture value of manual material handling workers on operators at UKM XYZ. UKM XYZ is engaged in processed snacks made from cassava. One of the activities carried out by humans, especially in material handling (manual material handling) is carried out at workstations. These activities still use traditional machines and simple equipment so that the operator performs long bending activities. This can cause complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The work carried out by the operator is on the workers in the third work element (frying) and checking the heater. After conducting an interview with the operator at the work station, the operator felt a complaint of pain in the shoulder. If left unchecked, it will cause skeletal muscle injury. The purpose of this study was to determine and measure the operator's workload based on the calculation of RWL (Recommended Weight Limit). From the measurement results of the operators at the work station, it was found that this activity is a light activity based on the calculation of energy consumption and the actual lifting load is below the recommended load with a Lifting Index (LI) level <= 1, meaning that the weight of the lifted load does not exceed lifting limits and does not carry the risk of spinal cord injury.
