Abstract

Membaca merupakan sebuah ketrampilan yang sangat penting, banyak hal akan bisa didapatkan dengan membaca. Siswa akan memperoleh informasi atau pengetahuan yang mereka belum mengetahui sebelumnya dari membaca teks atau bacaan. Dalam proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, Bacaan atau teks Bahasa Inggris merupakan materi yang harus diperoleh oleh siswa. Jika siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami teks atau bacaan, maka ini akan mempengaruhi pemahaman dan tentunya akan mempengaruhi hasil belajar mereka. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami oleh siswa dalam memahami bacaan atau teks Bahasa Inggris dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan deskriptif statistic. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat untuk mengumpulkan data. Kuesioner ini diadopsi dari beberapa sumber dengan menyesuaikan kebutuhan penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X dan XI Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Al Amin Mojokerto tahun ajaran 2021-2022. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian terdapat 6 kategori kesulitan memahami teks yaitu latar belakang tentang pengetahuan siswa terhadap teks, pemahaman siswa terhadap kalimat dalam teks, kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa, motivasi siswa terhadap teks, memory siswa terhadap teks dan pemaham siswa terhadap struktur teks. Namun Kosa kata dan kalimat dalam teks merupakan kategori yang membuat kesulitan siswa dalam memahamu teks Bahasa Inggris

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to find out the effect of demonstration method on writing procedure text at eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Kembangbahu.This research used a quantitative design. In collecting data, the researcher used experimental research. The researcher used quasi-experimental research. There were involved two classes for the research, namely experiment class and control class. The researcher used ttest to calculate the data. The finding of the research indicated the implementation of demonstration method on writing procedure text was effective. It could be know from the result of calculation that the students gained scores between pre-test and post-test in experiment class was higher than control class. The gained scores of experiment class is 15.25. Meanwhile, the gained scores of control class is 8. Furthermore, based on statistical calculation with the significant 5%. It showed that ttest is higher than t table that was 3.98 ≥ 2.02. Therefore H0 is rejected and the Ha is accepted. It can be conclude that using Demonstration method on writing procedure text is success.

Abstract

The aim of this study to find out whether the material based on local wisdom has an effect on students' reading ability. The research design of this study is quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. This study was conducted on students of class XI IPA SMAN 3 Lamongan, the sample used consisted of experimental and control classes each with 22 students, and the instruments used are test and non-test. The results of inferential statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test showed that the average value of the results of the experimental class's pretest reading ability was 67.77 while for the post-test experiment it was 85.55. In addition, the results of the questionnaire showed that there were about 89% of students gave a positive response, so it can be concluded that the application of material based on local wisdom has an effect on students' reading ability. Abstract

The students should master four basic skills in English, such as listening, reading, speaking and writing. Writing is one of students’ basic skills to master especially in writing procedure. There are some technique and media to teach in the class. One of the techniques is mind mapping and the media is Instagram. The students learn about procedure text by using mind mapping and Instagram, it could give motivation to improve their writing. This research used quasi-experimental design. It was conducted in SMKN 1 Lamongan. The population of this research is tenth grade. The samples were tenth AKL 1 and tenth AKL 2 the total samples were 68 students with non-equivalent control group design. It can be concluded that there is significant effect of mind mapping for writing procedure text by using Instagram of Tenth AKL SMKN 1 Lamongan in academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

Enhancing writing skills in descriptive text learning by using the guessing method in class VII SMPN 1 Sugio. The benefit of this research is the guessing game method can improve the writing ability of class VII students of SMPN 1 Sugio, this type of research is Class Action Research which is carried out in cycle stages including action planning, implementation of action, observation and evaluation, and reflection. The subject of this class action research is the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Sugio. The object of this research is the ability to write with the guessing game method. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets and learning outcomes tests. The data from this study were analyzed descriptive qualitative. The results show that the learning activities of grade VII D SMPN 1 Sugio students who used the guessing method are more active and enthusiastic in learning. In the preliminary results, the average student score is 67.1, only one student managed to reach the KKM. In the first cycle of student learning activities with the criteria of failure, with the results achieved 68.1 of 26 students, students who reached the KKM, 6 students while the second cycle of student learning activities with very good criteria, with the results achieved 76.3 of 26 students. Students who managed to reach the KKM 23 students. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the learning outcomes of seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Sugio using the guessing method have increased.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine students learning outcomes using tongue twister drill in teaching speaking for students of SMA Manggala Sakti Dadapan Solokuro. This research is experimental research. The sample of this study was the tenth-grade students of SMA Manggala Sakti Dadapan Solokuro, totalling 23 students. Data was collected through tests consisting of pre-test and post-test. The results of this study indicated that the experiment conducted by the researcher on the students was able to influence by using a test which consisted of several questions. So, the average value of the pretests is 61,32. while the post-tests have an average value of 75,32. The results of this study indicate that the experiment conducted by the researcher on eleventh grade students using a small group discussion in teaching speaking skill was able to influence student learning outcomes. It was proved by the value of t-test (,000) which was < 0,05. It indicated that there was significant, this is also indicated Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. Based on the finding the teacher must employ a range of strategies. Drilling was recommended as a technique that English teachers should implement when teaching speaking skill. The teacher also should give variety of teaching strategies

Abstract

The problem faced by human beings is the inability to live together harmoniously with others. This problem can be solved by learning and adapting local wisdom in every situation, this confirms that local wisdom is one of the crucial things to teach in schools. Local wisdom is very important because it contains moral values. The aim of this study is to analyze the material based on local wisdom has an effect on students' reading ability. The research design of this study is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. This study was conducted on students of 12 grade senior high school, the sample used consisted of experimental and control classes each with 22 students, and the instruments used are test and non-test. The results of inferential statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test showed that the average value of the results of the experimental class's pretest reading ability was 67.77 while for the post-test experiment it was 85.55. In addition, the results of the questionnaire showed that there were about 89% of students gave a positive response, so it can be concluded that the application of material based on local wisdom has an effect on students' reading ability.

Abstract

This study presented the exploration on learners’ emotional states while they’re practicing the 5R’s self reflective strategies. The 5Rs consists of reporting stages, responding stages, relating stages, reasoning stages and reconstructing stages. Participants of this study are 20 students of a local university at East Java Province. The method of this study is institutional case study. The data in this study are learners’ learning logs and online interview via zoom.
