Abstract

Digital learning tools in vocational education, especially in culinary arts is relatively limited. Cake decorating is one of the crucial topics that requires engaging and accessible materials to provide students’ independence yet often underrepresented. The purpose of research and development is to produce teaching material products based on digital pocket book chapter material for cake decorating materials for class XII vocational students of culinary skills and determine the feasibility and practicality of teaching materials. The development of teaching materials uses the four-D model which consists of define, design, develop, disseminate. Research data collection in the form of validation questionnaires and trial questionnaires. The validation results showed that the teaching materials were feasible with the acquisition of material expert scores of 118 with a percentage of 78% in the fairly feasible category, media experts 109 with a percentage of 97% in the feasible category, information technology experts 70 with a percentage of 92% in the feasible category, linguists 48 with a percentage of 100% in the feasible category, small-scale trials 790 with a percentage of 82% in the feasible category, large group trials 1,200 with a percentage of 88% in the feasible category, and practicality tests 795 with a percentage of 83% in the practical category. The findings conclude that the digital pocket book chapter material for cake decorating materials is suitable and effective teaching resource for Grade XII vocational students in the Culinary Skills Program.

Abstract

This research uses the PRISMA 2020 review guideline to systematically review literature (2015–2025) related to Roblox and gamification-based environments in vocational culinary education that support bartender skills acquisition of cocktail and mocktail making. A review of 20 academic research papers shows that Roblox is associated with improved student engagement, procedural accuracy, creativity and professional skill development especially when combined with gamification elements like leaderboards, rewards and collaborative learning. Practical skills and motivation to learn are greatly enhanced in hospitality and culinary training contexts through video games or simulations. Yet, there remain several challenges to overcome including technology divide, expense of infrastructure; teacher preparedness and non-standardized assessment. In general, these results highlight the transformative nature of Roblox as a new medium for refreshing bartender pedagogy and call attention to opportunities and tensions that warrant further investigation in terms of scalability, long term retention retention,, and industry relevant assessment frameworks.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of automation and robotics in manufacturing has intensified the need for vocational graduates with integrated digital, systems-thinking, and advanced welding competencies. Despite growing interest in virtual learning and Teaching Factory (TeFa) models, research on their application in robotic welding education remains fragmented. This study synthesizes existing evidence on virtual Teaching Factory innovations for robotic welding in vocational education through a Systematic Literature Review conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings published between 2013 and 2024 were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, and ERIC. Following rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria, twenty studies were analyzed using thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that immersive technologies, particularly virtual reality, welding simulation, and augmented training environments, have demonstrated positive effects on practice-based learning outcomes. Influence learners’ cognitive and psychomotor skill development, motivation, and operational safety. However, virtual learning is predominantly implemented as a supplementary tool rather than as an integrated Teaching Factory system. Hybrid learning configurations that combine virtual and physical environments demonstrate the strongest potential for enhancing industrial relevance and systems-level understanding. This review contributes a reminder conceptual synthesis of virtual Teaching Factory applications in robotic welding and identifies critical gaps for future research, emphasizing the need for longitudinal, pedagogy-driven, and industry-validated studies to advance vocational education in Industry 4.0 contexts.

Abstract

Persistent skills mismatches and prolonged school-to-work transitions among vocational education and training (VET) graduates, intensified by Industry 4.0, highlight the need for stronger alignment between VET systems and labor market demands. Career guidance has emerged as a key institutional mechanism supporting employability and workforce readiness. However, its integrative role in linking educational outcomes with labor market needs remains insufficiently synthesized. This study systematically reviews how career guidance in VET is conceptualized, implemented, and evaluated in relation to employability. Using PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted across Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, ERIC, and Google Scholar, yielding 41 peer-reviewed articles. Thematic synthesis shows that career guidance functions as an integrated mechanism enhancing employability, career adaptability, and workforce readiness. Key approaches include Work-Integrated Learning, competency-based frameworks, and digital career guidance platforms, which improve career awareness and alignment with labor market needs. Challenges identified include limited institutional capacity, insufficient expertise, technological disparities, and weak labor market information systems. The study integrates Human Capital Theory, Social Cognitive Career Theory, and Career Construction Theory within a lifelong learning perspective to explain the multidimensional role of career guidance. These findings offer policy and practical insights for strengthening career guidance systems to support sustainable workforce development in the digital economy

Abstract

Career guidance is widely seen as a key lever to help align vocational education with industry needs, but integrated and industry-driven career services are still commonly lacking. The study aims to investigate the impact of an industry-oriented career guidance model on improving vocational students’ employability and alignment with workforce needs. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA framework was conducted to analyze twenty peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The review focuses on identifying conceptual developments, implementation practices, and effectiveness factors related to industry-oriented career guidance. The review also highlights enabling factors, such as institutional support, career counsellor competencies, engagement with professional industries and students’ ability to adapt to careers. In addition, career guidance is an ecosystem-oriented process that acts as a link between curriculum development, the formation of professional identity, and portfolio readiness. Theoretically, this paper has highlighted the need to reposition career guidance as a strategic element of vocational education reform; and practically it has provided avenues for developing industry-responsive guidance systems.
