Abstract

ABSTRACT The palliative approach is a comprehensive effort aimed at improving the quality of life of terminally ill patients through symptom management, psychological, social, and spiritual support. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the palliative approach in improving the quality of life of terminally ill patients. The research method used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design on 100 terminally ill patients in the palliative care unit. Data were collected using a quality of life questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests. The results showed that patients who received a comprehensive palliative approach had higher quality of life scores than those who did not receive optimal intervention (p<0.05). It was concluded that the palliative approach plays a significant role in improving the quality of life of terminally ill patients. Keywords: Palliative, Quality of Life, Terminal Patients, Nursing

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wounds in patients with diabetes mellitus are a common complication and carry the risk of infection and even amputation. Proper wound care is crucial to accelerate healing. Wound care methods include conventional and modern methods, each with distinct characteristics. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of conventional and modern wound care methods in patients with diabetes mellitus. This study used a quasi -experimental design with a comparative study approach . A sample of 60 patients was divided into two groups: the conventional wound care group and the modern wound care group. Data were collected through observation of wound development using a wound assessment sheet. Data were analyzed using an independent t- test . The results of the study showed that the modern wound care group had a faster average healing time compared to the conventional method with a p-value = 0.001 (<0.05) . The conclusion of this study is that modern wound care methods are more effective than conventional methods in accelerating wound healing in diabetes mellitus patients. Abstract

ABSTRACT Second-degree burns are a type of wound that involves the epidermis and part of the dermis and therefore require appropriate treatment to prevent infection and accelerate healing . This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Aloe vera gel in accelerating the healing process of second degree burns . The study used a quasi-experimental method with two treatment groups . Data were collected through observation of wound conditions and analyzed using statistical tests . The results showed that the use of Aloe vera had a significant effect on accelerating wound healing compared to conventional Active treatments ingredients such as aloin , saponin, and lignin in Aloe vera play a role in accelerating tissue regeneration . Therefore , Aloe vera can be used as an alternative natural therapy in the treatment of burns . Keywords : Aloe Vera, Wound Healing , Burns , Natural Therapy

Abstract

ABSTRACT Postoperative pain is a common problem experienced by patients after surgery and can impact their recovery. One non-pharmacological method that can be used to reduce pain is deep breathing relaxation therapy. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation therapy on reducing post- operative pain in patients in the recovery room. This research uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design through the one-way method. group pretest-posttest The research sample consisted of 30 postoperative patients selected using purposive sampling techniques. Pain levels were measured before and after deep breathing relaxation therapy using a numeric scale . Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using the Paired T- test . The results of the study showed a decrease in the average pain level after deep breathing relaxation therapy. The average pain score before the intervention was 6.73 and after the intervention decreased to 3.87. The statistical test results showed a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of deep breathing relaxation therapy on reducing pain in postoperative patients . post- operative pain levels in patients in the recovery room. This therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to help improve patient comfort. Abstract

ABSTRACT Postpartum blues is a mild emotional disorder often experienced by mothers after childbirth, characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, crying spells, and mood swings. This condition can impact the mother's psychological health and the baby's care process if not properly managed. This study aims to determine the management of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers experiencing sadness or depression about their babies. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive analytical design. The sample consisted of 35 postpartum mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-square test. The results of the study showed that most mothers experienced mild to moderate postpartum blues. Factors influencing postpartum blues include lack of family support, hormonal changes, physical exhaustion, and anxiety in caring for a baby. Effective management includes emotional family support, health education, counseling, and assistance from healthcare professionals. The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of postpartum blues management on the psychological well-being of mothers after childbirth. It was concluded that proper management of postpartum blues can help reduce the level of sadness and depression in mothers after giving birth and improve the mother's ability to care for her baby. Abstract

Gut microbiota play an important role in maintaining human health, including metabolism, immune function, and gastrointestinal health. Traditional fermented foods contain various probiotic microorganisms that may influence the composition and diversity of gut microbiota. However, evidence regarding the relationship between traditional fermented food consumption and gut microbiota diversity remains limited, particularly among Indonesian populations. This study aims to analyze the diversity of gut microbiota among individuals with different traditional fermented food consumption patterns. This study used a quantitative approach with an analytical observational design employing a cross-sectional method. The study involved 80 adults aged 20–50 years who were categorized into high and low fermented food consumption groups based on Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) results. Fecal samples were collected and analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Gut microbial diversity was assessed using the Shannon-Wiener, Chao1, and Simpson diversity indices. Data analysis was performed using the Independent t-test and Spearman correlation test. The results showed that participants with high traditional fermented food consumption had significantly higher Shannon-Wiener diversity indices compared to those with low consumption (4.52 ± 0.38 vs. 3.89 ± 0.41; p < 0.001). In addition, the relative abundances of beneficial bacterial genera, including Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Faecalibacterium, were significantly greater in the high-consumption group. Statistical analysis also revealed a positive correlation between fermented food consumption frequency and gut microbiota diversity (r = 0.621; p < 0.001). The study concludes that traditional fermented food consumption is associated with greater gut microbiota diversity and increased abundance of beneficial bacterial taxa. These findings suggest that regular consumption of traditional fermented foods may contribute positively to gut health and overall well-being

Abstract

ABSTRACT Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life is an important effort in improving the health and growth of the baby. However, the success of exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by various factors, one of which is family support. Emotional support, information, and practical assistance from the family can increase the mother's motivation to provide exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to analyze the effect of family support on the success of exclusive breastfeeding in primiparous mothers . The study used an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach . The study sample was 70 primiparous mothers with babies aged 0–6 months. Data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi-square test . The results showed that mothers who received good family support had a success rate of exclusive breastfeeding of 78.4%, while mothers with less family support only had a success rate of 41.2%. The results of the statistical test showed a p value = 0.012 (p < 0.05). It was concluded that family support has a significant influence on the success of exclusive breastfeeding in primiparous mothers .
