Abstract

The contents of breast milk include white blood cells, immune substances, digestive enzymes, hormones and proteins that are very suitable to meet the needs of babies up to 6 months old, breast milk contains carbohydrates, proteins, fats, multivitamins, water, carotene and minerals completely, which are very suitable and easily absorbed perfectly and do not interfere with the kidney function of babies who are growing. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Takalar Regency Health Center. This research method is the Accidental Sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire sheet containing questions to obtain data. The statistical test used in this study is the Chi-square test using the Fisher's Exact Test alternative test which is a comparative test used on the data. The results of the study in table 1 show that the statistical test using the Chi-square test obtained a value of p = 0.005 (p <0.05 ) which means H1 is accepted or there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding. The conclusion obtained shows that there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Takalar Regency Health Center.

Abstract

Village Alert Cadres are at the forefront of early detection and response to health problems at the village level. Cadres' limited understanding of epidemiology concepts and risk reporting has weakened the early warning system. The objective of this activity was to increase the capacity of cadres in health risk mapping and case reporting based on basic epidemiological principles. The activity was implemented through training, risk mapping simulations, and practice in preparing case reports. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in cadres' understanding and skills after the training. It is hoped that this activity will serve as a replicable training model in other areas to strengthen community-based health systems.

Abstract

Background: Free radicals play a major role in causing damage to cells and body tissues, which can trigger various degenerative diseases. One preventive strategy is the use of antioxidants. Moringa oleifera leaves are a herb known to be rich in phytochemical compounds with high antioxidant potential. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical content and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Moringa leaves as a natural ingredient with potential use in the development of pharmaceutical products or functional foods. Methods: Moringa leaves were extracted using a maceration method with 96% ethanol as a solvent. Phytochemical tests were conducted to identify secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and terpenoids. Antioxidant activity was analyzed using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method, and IC₅₀ values were calculated to determine their antioxidant potential. Results: The ethanol extract of Moringa leaves contained flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids. The DPPH test results showed that the extract had an IC₅₀ value of 65.4 µg/mL, which is categorized as moderate antioxidant activity. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Moringa leaves contains diverse phytochemicals and significant antioxidant activity. This demonstrates the great potential of Moringa leaves as a source of natural antioxidants in the development of herbal medicines and functional food products.

Abstract

Firefighting is a high-risk occupation that requires strict implementation of occupational safety measures, including the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Despite existing safety regulations, work accidents among firefighters remain a global concern. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between PPE use and the incidence of work accidents among firefighters at the Watang Sawitto Subdistrict Fire Station in Pinrang Regency. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design with total sampling, all 52 firefighters were included as respondents. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to examine the correlation between PPE use and work accidents. The results showed a significant relationship (p = 0.001), indicating that incomplete PPE use increases the likelihood of occupational accidents. This finding highlights the importance of strengthening compliance with PPE standards and institutional safety management systems to reduce occupational risks among firefighters. The study contributes scientifically by providing empirical evidence on the role of PPE adherence in preventing workplace accidents in high-risk emergency service environments, and practically by offering insights for policy development and safety interventions within Indonesia’s occupational health and safety (K3) framework.
