Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan sifat hubungan persaudaraan karakter utama dalam novel Little Women karya Louisa May Alcott. Novel ini dipilih sebagai sumber data karena mengandung genre psikologis dan merepresentasikan sifat-sifat hubungan persaudaraan. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan teori kepribadian Sigmund Freud dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra, terkait dengan teori hubungan persaudaraan oleh Nina Howe. Teori Howe membagi hubungan persaudaraan menjadi empat sifat: intimasi, keserasian, kesetiaan dan kecemburuan. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif yang berfokus pada bahasa yang mengandung pemikiran, sikap dan tindakan karakter yang membentuk dialog antar karakter sebagai sumber data melalui langkah-langkah pengumpulan data, tampilan data, identifikasi data dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intimasi dalam hubungan persaudaraan ditunjukkan oleh Beth, keserasian tercermin baik oleh Meg dan Jo yang memiliki perspektif sama dengan Amy dan Beth, dan kesetiaan terlihat jelas ketika Jo memilih untuk memaafkan Amy sebagai saudarinya dan melepaskan kemarahannya; yang terakhir adalah kecemburuan yang jelas terlihat oleh Amy ketika ia secara terus terang mengatakan bahwa semua saudara perempuannya tidak menderita sebanyak dirinya, namun kecemburuan tersebut tidak bertahan lama.Kata Kunci: sibling relationship, intimacy, congeniality, loyalty, jealousyThis research aims to highlight the natures of sibling relationships of main character found in the novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott The novel is chosen as the source of data because this novel has psychological genre and represents the natures of sibling relationship. The study is conducted based onÂ personality theory ofÂ Sigmund Freud under the approach of psychology of literature,Â connected to the sibling relationships theory by Nina Howe. Howeâ€™s theory divides sibling relationships into four natures; they are intimacy, congeniality, loyalty and the last is jealousy. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method focused on the language containing thought, attitude, and action of the characters forming dialogues among the characters as the source of data through the steps asÂ Â data collection, data display, data identification and conclusion. The results show that intimacy in sibling relationship is shown by Beth, congeniality is reflected well by Meg and Jo having the same perspective with Amy and Beth, and loyalty is well seen when Jo chooses to forgive Amy as her sister and let her anger go away for she choose to stay when she can go away; the last is jealousy that is clearly seen by Amy when she straightforwardly says that all of her sisters do not suffer as much as she, but that jealousy does not last longer.Keywords: sibling relationship, intimacy, congeniality, loyalty, jealousy

This research looks into how the magical and real worlds exist side by side in Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, using a postmodern perspective. It shows how both worlds interact and function within the same space and time. Drawing on Marcel Mauss’s theory of magic and postmodern ideas, the study reveals that magic in the novel isn’t shown as the opposite of reality, but rather as a parallel system that reflects similar structures and social patterns. The analysis suggests that postmodern stories often blur the lines between reality and fantasy, questioning fixed boundaries and supporting more flexible ways of understanding the world.

Popular music stands as a cultural space where emotion, identity, and power intertwine. Within this realm, female voices often perform the delicate balance between desire and restraint. Yet, few studies have examined how mainstream pop songs articulate female desire beyond objectification, particularly in the work of Selena Gomez, whose music navigates intimacy and autonomy with subtle complexity. This study examines Selena Gomez’s “Can’t Keep My Hands to Myself” to explore how female agency emerges through the negotiation of longing and self-control. Employing a feminist literary lens and Freud’s psychoanalytic framework of the id, ego, and superego, the analysis reveals how sensual impulse and conscious regulation coexist in lyrical expression. In dialogue with Cann (2021) and Jansson (2021), the study interprets the song as a declaration of embodied autonomy, where sensuality becomes self-possession rather than submission. Through qualitative content analysis, the findings affirm that pop music offers a stage for reimagining female identity—where emotion, restraint, and power converge in a harmony of self-aware desire.

Kesiapan siswa tingkat sekolah menengah atas dalam menghadapi dunia kerja global sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan mereka dalam menulis surat lamaran kerja dan cover letter berbahasa Inggris. Namun, kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa banyak siswa belum memahami struktur penulisan surat lamaran secara tepat dan belum memiliki keterampilan mendesain dokumen lamaran secara menarik. Hal ini juga ditemukan di SMK PAB 3 Medan, di mana mayoritas siswa belum terbiasa menggunakan bahasa Inggris secara fungsional dan belum memanfaatkan media digital seperti Canva. Menanggapi permasalahan tersebut, tim dosen dari Universitas Deztron Indonesia melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan menulis dan merancang surat lamaran kerja serta cover letter berbahasa Inggris berbasis Canva. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 30 siswa kelas XI dan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 10 Juni 2025. Metode pelatihan meliputi penyampaian materi, praktik langsung menulis dan mendesain dokumen, serta sesi tanya jawab dan evaluasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap struktur dan isi surat lamaran kerja, serta kemampuan dalam memanfaatkan Canva untuk mendesain dokumen secara profesional dan menarik. Kegiatan ini juga berdampak pada meningkatnya kepercayaan diri dan kesiapan siswa dalam menghadapi dunia kerja di era digital. Diharapkan pelatihan ini dapat menjadi model pembelajaran terapan yang dapat direplikasi di sekolah lain dengan kebutuhan serupa.Kata Kunci: surat lamaran kerja, cover letter, Canva, pelatihan, siswa SMK

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan minat dan kemampuan belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SD Swasta IT Tahfidzul Qur’an Al-Umm Smart Centre. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan mengembangkan worksheet interaktif. Penelitian melibatkan 28 siswa sebagai partisipan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan worksheet interaktif efektif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 80% dan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa meningkat sebesar 70%. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa worksheet interaktif dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca, menulis, dan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berdampak positif pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan dapat menjadi model pengembangan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah lain. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru dan pengembang kurikulum untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di tingkat sekolah dasar. Agency in literary studies is commonly approached as a moral or psychological quality of a character. However, such perspectives often overlook how agency is shaped by narrative form. This study addresses this gap by examining how the protagonist’s agency in Lady Susan is narratively constructed through epistolary mediation. This study examines the construction of the protagonist’s agency in Lady Susan, an epistolary novella in which action and intention are mediated through letters. Rather than treating agency as an ethical attribute, the study approaches agency as a product of textual mediation. Using a qualitative literary approach, the analysis employs close reading of selected letters to examine decision-making, narrative voice, and narrative consequences. This focus is significant because it clarifies how agency in epistolary fiction operates as a strategic and negotiated textual process rather than merely a reflection of character autonomy. The findings demonstrate that the protagonist’s agency is not represented as moral autonomy but as a strategic capacity negotiated through voice and social relations. Within the epistolary structure, agency emerges as a dynamic and textually constructed process.

YouTube comment sections are often treated as noisy and trivial spaces, yet they function as important arenas where people negotiate knowledge, credibility, and authority. This article examines how testimonial injustice unfolds in YouTube comment sections through everyday interactions surrounding contested knowledge claims. Drawing on social epistemology, particularly the concept of testimonial injustice, this study focuses on how speakers are believed, dismissed, or granted authority in digital discourse. Using qualitative discourse analysis, the data consist of selected comment threads responding to a viral YouTube video related to the Apollo moon landing. The comments were drawn from a dataset of 1,264 comments collected between 15 December 2025 and 1 March 2026, from which 9 comments and reply threads were purposively selected for detailed analysis. As YouTube comment sections continue to grow over time, the dataset reflects the comments available during the specified data collection period. The analysis shows four recurring epistemic patterns: credibility deficit, where testimonies are dismissed without engagement; uptake failure, where attempts to explain or correct information receive partial or no epistemic recognition; identity-based credibility judgments, where speakers are evaluated based on perceived competence rather than the content of their claims; and credibility excess, where confidence and technical tone grant undue epistemic authority. These findings suggest that YouTube comment sections are not merely spaces of misinformation or disagreement, but sites where epistemic norms are actively negotiated and often unevenly distributed. This article contributes to digital discourse studies by highlighting how testimonial injustice operates in everyday online interactions and by positioning YouTube as an epistemically consequential space rather than a marginal one.

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kreativitas literasi dan kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris pelajar melalui pelatihan penulisan fanfiction. Fanfiction dipilih karena dekat dengan budaya populer remaja dan efektif memfasilitasi imajinasi, pemahaman naratif, dan ekspresi kreatif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMA Nur Ihsan Islamic Fullday School dengan melibatkan siswa yang memiliki ketertarikan pada cerita dan karakter fiksi. Pelatihan mencakup pengenalan konsep fanfiction, pemahaman elemen naratif, eksplorasi ide, penyusunan outline, serta praktik penulisan fanfiction berbahasa Inggris. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, analisis karya siswa, kuesioner, dan wawancara guru pendamping, lalu dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa mampu menyusun alur dan karakter dengan lebih terstruktur, mengembangkan ide cerita secara lebih kreatif, dan menggunakan kosakata serta struktur bahasa Inggris dengan lebih tepat. Partisipasi siswa tinggi, ditandai dengan keberanian bertanya, berdiskusi, serta kesediaan membacakan karya. Lingkungan belajar yang relevan dengan minat mereka meningkatkan motivasi intrinsik, mendorong keterlibatan aktif, dan mengurangi hambatan psikologis dalam menulis. Secara keseluruhan, pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dalam memperkuat literasi Bahasa Inggris sekaligus menumbuhkan kreativitas pelajar melalui pendekatan berbasis minat dan budaya populer.

This study aims to analyze the effect of teacher pedagogical competence on students' English listening skill with learning attitude as an intervening variable among Grade XI students of SMK Al-Maksum, Langkat Regency. The type of research used is quantitative associative using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Square (PLS) with the help of SmartPLS version 3.0 software. The population in this study includes all eleventh-grade students within the SMK Al-Maksum organization, totaling 53 students. Sampling applied a saturated sampling technique (census), so that all 53 population members were involved as active respondents. The results of direct effect hypothesis testing show that teacher pedagogical competence has a positive and significant effect on students' learning attitude (original sample = 0.895; T-statistics = 24.629; P-values = 0.000). Similarly, students' learning attitude recorded a strong positive and significant effect on students' listening skill (original sample = 1.187; T-statistics = 4.814; P-values = 0.000). Conversely, teacher pedagogical competence is proven to have a negative and non-significant direct effect on students' listening skill (original sample = -0.369; T-statistics = 1.358; P-values = 0.180). In mediation effect testing, students' learning attitude is significantly proven to act as a full mediator that bridges the influence of teacher pedagogical competence on students' listening skill (original sample = 1.062; T-statistics = 4.274; P-values = 0.000). The adjusted R-square values indicate that pedagogical competence accounts for 79.6% of the variance in learning attitude , while the model's capability to predict listening skill variance accounts for 75.3%, which falls into a strong category.
