Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan pemberdayaan ekonomi ibu-ibu PKK RW 12 Kelurahan Tangkerang Labuai, Kecamatan Bukit Raya, Kota Pekanbaru, melalui pelatihan pembuatan kerupuk nasi berbahan dasar nasi sisa yang diperkaya dengan udang rebon (Mysis relicta). Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi masyarakat adalah tingginya volume limbah organik rumah tangga, khususnya nasi sisa yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Melalui pelatihan ini, limbah nasi diolah menjadi produk pangan bernilai jual tinggi dan bergizi, sejalan dengan prinsip blue economy dan ekonomi sirkular. Metode kegiatan meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi hasil. Peserta diberikan materi tentang pengelolaan limbah pangan, teknik pengolahan adonan, pengeringan, pengemasan, serta strategi pemasaran sederhana. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta mengenai pengolahan limbah rumah tangga menjadi produk olahan bernilai ekonomi. Produk kerupuk nasi udang rebon yang dihasilkan memiliki cita rasa gurih, tekstur renyah, serta kandungan gizi yang lebih tinggi karena penambahan protein hewani dari udang rebon. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan dampak ekonomi berupa peluang usaha baru bagi ibu-ibu PKK, tetapi juga berkontribusi terhadap pengurangan limbah organik dan peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan ekonomi berbasis komunitas yang berkelanjutan dan dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain dengan dukungan lintas sektor antara masyarakat, perguruan tinggi, dan pemerintah daerah

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), dan karbon organik (C) tersebar di sedimen pesisir Desa Buruk Bakul, Bengkalis. Daerah ini sangat menarik karena punya gabungan ekosistem: muara, mangrove alami, area rehabilitasi mangrove, dan tambak udang. Fokus utama adalah mencari tahu bagaimana kandungan N, P, dan C organik berbeda-beda di berbagai tempat, dan apa pengaruh kegiatan manusia serta kondisi ekosistem terhadap unsur- unsur tersebut. Sampel diambil dari empat lokasi yang berbeda, lalu dianalisis di laboratorium menggunakan metode standar untuk mengukur kadar nitrat, amonia, fosfat, dan karbon organik. Data diolah dengan menghitung persentase unsur hara dan perbandingan C:N:P. Hasilnya, karbon (C) adalah unsur yang paling banyak ditemukan di semua lokasi. Kandungan C tertinggi ada di hutan mangrove (0,007884%). Nitrogen (N) paling tinggi di area tambak stasiun 4, diduga karena limbah pakan dan aktivitas budidaya. Sementara itu, fosfor (P) paling rendah, hanya sekitar 0,000003–0,000010%, dan cenderung terikat kuat pada sedimen. Perbandingan C:N:P menunjukkan ketidakseimbangan, khususnya di ekosistem mangrove. Ini mungkin disebabkan oleh banyaknya serasah yang kualitasnya kurang baik dan proses penguraian yang lambat. Di tambak udang, kadar nitrogen meningkat sehingga menurunkan rasio C:N. Area rehabilitasi menunjukkan akumulasi unsur hara yang masih rendah, menandakan ekosistemnya belum stabil. Perbedaan jenis ekosistem dan aktivitas manusia sangat memengaruhi sebaran unsur hara. Informasi tentang distribusi C, N, dan P ini penting sebagai dasar untuk mengelola kualitas lingkungan dan memantau kesehatan ekosistem pesisir di Bengkalis. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and organic carbon (C) in the coastal sediments of Buruk Bakul Village, Bengkalis Regency, which consists of estuary, natural mangrove, mangrove rehabilitation, and shrimp pond ecosystems. The study focused on spatial variations of nutrients and the influence of anthropogenic activities and ecosystem conditions on N, P, and organic C content. Sediment samples were collected from four observation stations using purposive sampling and analyzed in the laboratory following APHA and SNI procedures for nitrate, ammonia, phosphate, and organic carbon determination. Quantitative descriptive analysis was performed by calculating nutrient percentages and C:N:P ratios. Results showed that carbon was the dominant component at all stations, with the highest value recorded in the mangrove forest (0.007884%). Nitrogen was highest in shrimp ponds due to feed waste and aquaculture activities, whereas phosphorus had the lowest concentration (0.000003–0.000010%) because of strong binding to sediments. The C:N:P ratios indicated significant imbalance, particularly in mangrove ecosystems, reflecting the dominance of low-quality litter and slow decomposition. Shrimp ponds showed increased nitrogen that lowered the C:N ratio, while the rehabilitation area had low nutrient accumulation in line with the developing ecosystem. So, nutrient distribution in sediments is strongly influenced by ecosystem type and human activities. These findings provide essential information for environmental management and monitoring of coastal ecosystem health in Bengkalis.

Abstract

The research was conducted in December 2025 in the waters of Pangkalan Jambi. The purpose of this research was to analyze the total oil content in sediments, calculate the abundance of benthic diatoms, and explain the relationship between the total oil content in sediment and the abundance of benthic diatoms. The research uses a survey method; three sampling stations with three replications in each station were surveyed. The results showed that the average oil concentration in sediments exceeded the thresholds set by the Department of Water Resources Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program and the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council. The results of the calculation of the abundance of benthic diatoms ranged from 2196.14 ind/cm2 to 3362.84 ind/cm2. The highest abundance is around small ports, while the lowest abundance is around the river mouth. Based on simple linear regression, the relationship between sediment oil content and benthic diatom abundance was y = 8281.7 – 1.1367x, with a coefficient of determination (R2)= 0.875 and a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.935. The value of r states a moderate relationship with a constant value b, which is negative, indicating that the higher the oil content, the lower the abundance of benthic diatoms in sediments.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the commodities with high economic value and is widely favored by the public. Innovation in coffee processing through the addition of probiotics offers an opportunity to produce functional products that not only have nutritional value but also business potential. This community service activity aims to enhance students’ competence in entrepreneurship based on the innovation of probiotic coffee beverages (Kopi-Pro) by utilizing the Bacillus cereus SN7 consortium as a source of single-cell protein. The implementation methods include socialization, training, mentoring, as well as monitoring and evaluation. Organoleptic tests on the aroma and taste of robusta coffee showed that the treatment with the highest probiotic dosage, 4% (treatment D), received the highest preference score from the panelists. Marketing trials conducted in three PKKMB events resulted in all products being sold out with a total revenue of IDR 1,682,000, supported by a 65% repeat purchase interest rate, indicating a positive consumer response. These results confirm that Kopi-Pro has the potential to be developed as a probiotic-based functional beverage with economic value and can serve as a student entrepreneurship model after graduation.

Abstract

Mangrove merupakan salah satu ekosistem laut yang paling produktif dengan beranekaragam flara dan fauna mangrove, daerah yang dipengaruhi oleh pasang surut air laut, daerah asuhan (nursery ground) dan tempat mencari makan bagi biota laut, Selain itu, daun, batang, akar dan bunga mangrove telah digunakan sebagai pewarna alami dalam pembuatan kerajinan tangan atau bahan tekstil yang disebut dengan istilah teknik batik ecoprint mangrove. Produk batik ecoprint mangrove menghasilkan nuansa warna alami dengan motif yang indah yang ramah lingkungan. Sasaran pelatihan Program Desa Binaan (PDB) yaitu mitra KPM Sekat Bakau Desa Buruk Bakul Kabupaten Bengkalis yang berjumlah 20 orang, dibantu oleh mahasiswa Kukerta MBKM LPPM Universitas Riau tahun 2024 berjumlah 10 orang. Tujuan kegiatan PDB yaitu transfer iptek batik ecoprint mangrove pada mitra KPM Sekat Bakau dan masyarakat di Desa Buruk Bakul, dengan menghasilkan produk ecoprint yang berkualitas. Diharapkan mendorong masyarakat melakukan upaya konservasi hutan mangrove berkelanjutan dan membentuk desa binaan yang mandiri. Peserta pelatihan sangat antusias dan memiliki motivasi untuk membuat batik ecoprint mangrove. Hal ini dapat menjadi alternatif mata pencaharian untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Desa Buruk Bakul.

Abstract

Coastal ecosystems are highly sensitive to nutrient enrichment, particularly from land-based activities and aquaculture effluents, which contribute to water quality degradation. This study evaluated the concentrations of nitrate, ammonia, and phosphate in the coastal waters of Buruk Bakul Village, Bengkalis, Riau Province, Indonesia. Water samples were collected from four representative stations in August 2025: a river estuary, a shrimp pond, a mangrove rehabilitation site, and a natural mangrove forest. The analysis was conducted using spectrophotometric methods in accordance with the Indonesian National Standards (SNI). Results indicated that nitrate concentrations ranged from 0.0822 to 0.1932 mg/L, ammonia from 0.5705 to 1.7338 mg/L, and phosphate from 0.0845 to 0.299 mg/L. All parameters exceeded the seawater quality standards for marine biota established by the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 51/2004, indicating a significant anthropogenic influence. The river estuary recorded the highest nitrate and phosphate levels, reflecting inputs from land runoff and domestic waste, while ammonia peaked in the shrimp pond due to aquaculture discharge. Nutrient levels in mangrove-associated stations were lower but still above the threshold, indicating that mangrove ecosystems provide some capacity to retain and transform nutrients, although insufficient for full remediation. Elevated nutrient concentrations pose ecological risks, such as eutrophication and algal blooms, which may disrupt biodiversity and fisheries productivity. This study emphasizes the urgency of improving aquaculture waste management, reducing land-derived nutrient loading, and strengthening mangrove conservation and rehabilitation as integrated strategies to sustain coastal ecosystem health in Buruk Bakul and similar regions. These findings provide a baseline for nutrient management and coastal rehabilitation strategies in western Indonesian waters

Abstract

Coffee consumption continues to rise in step with growing interest in functional beverages. KOPI-PRO is a coffee product containing protein produced through fermentation by probiotic microorganisms and has undergone challenge tests against pathogenic bacteria such as Pseudomonas sp., Aeromonas sp., and Vibrio alginolyticus. This community engagement program aims to foster entrepreneurship among the academic community of the University of Riau by developing probiotic coffee (KOPI-PRO) as both a healthy product innovation and a pilot for a sustainable business strategy. Activities included outreach and production training, limited market trials, a consumer satisfaction survey (n = 39), and a business feasibility assessment. Results showed that four students chose to continue the KOPI-PRO venture; consumer ratings of taste, texture, and aroma ranged from “like” to “strongly like,” with the most favored variants including Orange Latte, Original, and Palm Sugar Latte. Financially, the venture was feasible (R/C > 1) with an estimated payback period of about four months. This program demonstrates that a simple, measurable, biotechnology-based service model is effective in cultivating students’ entrepreneurial interest and is readily replicable in campus and community settings.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2025 di Perairan Selat Air Hitam, Kepulauan Meranti, Provinsi Riau. Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk menganalisis konsentrasi nitrat, fosfat, dan kelimpahan fitoplankton, serta mengkaji hubungan nitrat dan fosfat dengan kelimpahan fitoplankton di Perairan Selat Air Hitam. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei dengan teknik purposive sampling pada tiga stasiun pengamatan saat kondisi air pasang. Analisis sampel nitrat dan fosfat diukur menggunakan spektrofotometer, sedangkan kelimpahan fitoplankton dihitung menggunakan rumus modifikasi Lackey Drop Microtransecting Methods melalui pengamatan mikroskop 12 lapang pandang. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan statistik menggunakan Uji Anova serta Uji Regresi Linear Berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi rata-rata nitrat berkisar antara 0,103–0,190 mg/L, dengan nilai tertinggi di Stasiun 2 akibat limbah pemukiman dan aktivitas pelabuhan. Konsentrasi rata-rata fosfat berkisar antara 0,032–0,060 mg/L, dengan nilai tertinggi di Stasiun 3. Fitoplankton yang ditemukan terdiri dari 6 kelas dan 12 spesies, dengan nilai kelimpahan berkisar antara 1.475,97–3.074,95 ind/L. Kelimpahan tertinggi dijumpai pada Stasiun 1 yang didukung oleh keberadaan ekosistem hutan mangrove sebagai penyuplai hara alami. Hasil analisis regresi linear berganda menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan, konsentrasi nitrat dan fosfat memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kelimpahan fitoplankton (r = 0,730; R² = 0,533; p < 0,05). Namun, secara parsial koefisien regresi kedua variabel tersebut bernilai negatif, yang mengindikasikan pola penurunan kelimpahan fitoplankton pada kondisi kadar nutrien tinggi di titik pengamatan tertentu. Pola ini diduga terkait dengan faktor pembatas fisik-kimia lain yang tidak diukur dalam penelitian ini, seperti tingkat kekeruhan perairan, sehingga diperlukan kajian lanjutan untuk mengonfirmasi faktor penyebabnya.
