Abstract

Abstract: This study systematically reviews the role of swimming in improving physical fitness based on recent empirical evidence. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using PRISMA and PICO frameworks was conducted through the Scopus database. From 426 studies identified, 20 met inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Results show that 94.4% had moderate to high quality, confirming swimming’s significant effects on aerobic capacity, body composition, muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and functional fitness. Aquatic environments provide resistance and buoyancy, promoting physiological adaptations with minimal injury risk. Practically, swimming is recommended as an effective, safe, and inclusive exercise for all age groups. Future studies should determine optimal training doses and explore physiological mechanisms underlying aquatic fitness adaptations. Keywords: swimming, physical fitness, aquatic exercise, systematic literature review   Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan meninjau secara sistematis peran aktivitas renang terhadap peningkatan kebugaran jasmani berdasarkan bukti empiris terbaru. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan kerangka PRISMA dan PICO melalui basis data Scopus. Dari 426 artikel yang ditemukan, 20 memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan dianalisis lebih lanjut. Hasil menunjukkan 94,4% studi berkualitas sedang hingga tinggi, menegaskan bahwa aktivitas renang berperan signifikan dalam meningkatkan kapasitas aerobik, komposisi tubuh, kekuatan otot, fleksibilitas, keseimbangan, dan kebugaran fungsional. Lingkungan air memberikan resistensi dan daya apung yang mendukung adaptasi fisiologis dengan risiko cedera rendah. Secara praktis, renang direkomendasikan sebagai latihan efektif, aman, dan inklusif bagi semua kelompok usia. Penelitian selanjutnya perlu mengeksplorasi dosis optimal dan mekanisme fisiologis adaptasi kebugaran akibat latihan di air.   Kata Kunci: renang, kebugaran jasmani, latihan akuatik, systematic literature review

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of volleyball underhand passing skills caused by differences in student abilities that have not been fully accommodated in the learning process. The study aims to determine efforts to improve learning outcomes in volleyball underhand passing skills through the application of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, implemented in two cycles with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 36 eighth-grade students of YASPRI MARIPARI Sukawening Junior High School. The research instrument used the AAHPER Face Wall-Volley Test to measure underhand passing skills. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and the N-Gain test. The results showed an increase in learning outcomes in each cycle. The average student score increased from 8.58 in the pretest to 9.97 in Cycle I and 11.67 in Cycle II. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant improvement in learning outcomes. Learning effectiveness was also demonstrated by the N-Gain value of 0.4449, categorized as moderate. The learning completion percentage increased from 19.4% in the initial conditions to 88.9% in Cycle II. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach is effective in improving learning outcomes in volleyball underhand passing skills through learning tailored to the students' ability levels, making the learning process more adaptive and able to accommodate differences in ability within the class. Abstract

Rendahnya minat belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran PJOK, khususnya pada materi futsal, menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang memengaruhi keterlibatan dan partisipasi siswa selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Pembelajaran yang masih didominasi pendekatan konvensional menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif, cepat bosan, dan kurang memahami konsep permainan secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model pembelajaran Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada pembelajaran futsal. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus pada siswa kelas XI SMA Kartika XIX-2 Kota Bandung dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 35 siswa. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan angket minat belajar, lembar observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif melalui perhitungan rata-rata, persentase ketuntasan, median, varian, dan standar deviasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model TGfU mampu meningkatkan minat belajar siswa secara bertahap dari kondisi awal hingga siklus II. Persentase ketuntasan minat belajar meningkat dari 29% pada kondisi awal menjadi 100% pada siklus II tindakan 2, sedangkan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 43 menjadi 72. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keterlibatan, perhatian, dan antusiasme selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran TGfU efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada pembelajaran futsal serta dapat menjadi alternatif strategi pembelajaran PJOK yang lebih aktif, interaktif, dan berpusat pada siswa.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to design, develop, and evaluate the feasibility of a visual stimulus based portable table tennis rebound board. This instructional media was developed to facilitate students' independent practice and help improve visual focus and stroke accuracy during table tennis lessons in schools. Methods: The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), referring to the 10 step Borg and Gall model. This study involved a sample of 76 participants selected through purposive sampling, divided into three progressive testing phases: (1) preliminary field testing on 6 students (n = 6), (2) main field testing on 30 students (n = 30), and (3) final operational field testing on 40 participants (n = 40) consisting of 12th grade students. Prior to the field trials, the media was evaluated by a validator panel comprising 4 experts (n = 4), namely 2 media/technical experts and 2 subject matter/instructional experts. Data were collected using a questionnaire instrument consisting of 20 statements on a 5 point Likert scale, alongside open ended feedback forms. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive percentages and standard deviation (SD), while qualitative data were analyzed through response frequency grouping. Findings: The application of a coordinated target area consisting of 12 target boxes with a high-contrast zig-zag design consistently improved the media's feasibility score across all stages. Quantitative assessment began with expert validation, yielding an average score of 78.75% (± 3.25%) from media/technical experts ("Feasible" category) and 83.50% (± 2.10%) from subject matter/instructional experts ("Highly Feasible" category). During the field trials, the feasibility percentage increased to 85.80% (± 2.45%) in the preliminary testing, rose to 89.60% (± 2.10%) in the main testing, and reached a peak of 92.40% (± 1.85%) during the final operational testing ("Highly Feasible" category). Overall, the media experienced a substantial total feasibility increase of Δ = +13.65% from the initial prototype to the final product, accompanied by an increasingly uniform distribution of responses. Furthermore, the analysis of open-ended feedback revealed that 87% of students in the main field testing (n = 30) confirmed that the color cues and alphanumeric coordinate codes significantly helped accelerate their visual focus and improve their stroke direction accuracy. Research Implications: This study provides an empirically validated instructional media reference for Physical Education teachers and sports practitioners, proving that the integration of structured visual cues into independent practice equipment effectively assists students in target aiming and enhances the overall effectiveness of table tennis learning in schools. Originality: The novelty of this research lies in the transformation of a conventional rebound board into an interactive training medium that combines dual-sided ball rebound with a high contrast alphanumeric target matrix, thereby integrating students' physical agility and cognitive focus engagement within a single independent practice tool.

Abstract

Interest in learning among students is a crucial element for achieving success in physical education, especially in pencak silat material which requires active participation from students. However, in learning pencak silat at the secondary school level, problems are often found such as low student interest and involvement, which is caused by traditional teaching methods. This research aims to increase students’ interest in learning through the use of a flipped learning model with the support of audiovisual technology media in learning pencak silat. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach developed by Kemmis and McTaggart, which was carried out in two cycles with the pre-cycle stage as the initial condition. The subjects in this research consisted of 32 class XII students at State Senior High School 1 Pabuaran. Data regarding student interest in learning was collected through a questionnaire adapted from Budiono (2012) and has been tested for validity and reliability. Data processing was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner using the overall percentage of success. The findings of this research show a significant increase in students’ interest in learning, which rose from 38% in pre-cycle to 72% in cycle I and increased again to 91% in cycle II. The innovation of this research lies in combining the flipped learning model with audiovisual media which is applied in a structured manner in pencak silat learning at the secondary school level. These results indicate that the application of flipped learning supported by audiovisual technology is very effective in increasing students’ interest in learning pencak silat.
