Abstract

Companies not only need a strategy to implement the business process, companies also require IT strategy must be aligned with the business strategy. IT strategic planning can provide a clear picture of the future of the company, utilization of resources on the things that are important or quantitative in nature and can be understood by the environmental conditions that affect the company. a prestigious consultant believes the technology strategy developed at this time one of them is a green IT strategy. Green IT is seen as an innovation because there are many people who give new insights into the perception or green IT could affect the existing knowledge and experience in this case is associated with information systems and technology to become an IT strategy. Based on the above figures and tables, of each sub-system on HRIS, and aspects of green IT strategies are assessed, then the strategy aspect of the challenge (chalenges) is the largest sub-system of recruitment. Where is the part that the use of resources and information technology still requires energy and the amount is large and consistent with the hypothesis that in order to create green IT, the use of computer resources in an efficient way to improve the economic viability, social responsibility and environmental impacts can be realized by determining the right IT strategy (see table 1). while Human resource information system (HRIS) that can be created innovative by implementing green IT strategy. PT Pertamina (Persero) has implemented the system in improving the performance and reducing the cost and resources that are not needed. For example, excessive use of paper in the preparation of reports, information and workforce benefits.

Abstract

This research studies the use of performance measurement systems (PMS) in public sector. It provides empirical evidence on the influencing factors determined by the use of PMS in Indonesian local government. Institutional theory, especially institutional isomorphism, is utilized as a theoretical lens to further explain the findings. The factors under examination are information, goals and objectives of the organization and external pressure. The context of the study is the Provincial Government of Yogyakarta (including Bantul, Gunungkidul, Kulonprogo, Sleman, and the City of Yogyakarta). This research uses mixed research method and employs Partial Least Square (PLS) and Thematic Content Analysis (TCA) to analyze and interpret the data. The results shows that information and external pressures have a positive and significant effect on the use of PMS in local government operations. In turn, information regarding incentive has a positive and significant effect on the use of PMS. In short, goals and objectives of the organization, information and external pressures influence the use of PMS.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of dispositional personality and situational cognitive factors on the intention to use the internet. Personality factors were measured by five variables openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Meanwhile, situational cognitive factors were measured by perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and self-efficacy. Survey was conducted to 323 students of Faculty of Economics, Universitas Bengkulu, include extension and Magister Management students programme. This research uses non-probability sampling procedure with purposive-judgment method. Primary data were gathered using closedquestion form questionnaire. Hypotheses testing were conducted using Partial Least Square with software SmartPLS version 2.0.M3. Results showed that openness to experience, perceived usefulness and self-efficacy significantly affect intention to use internet. Meanwhile, situational cognitive factors were better predictor than personality factors on the intention to use internet. This suggests that the application of information technology acceptance and adoption theory dominantly based on perceptual cognitive factors rather than personality. The current study contributes to higher education managers in terms of how to manage common problems of information system resistance. Keywords: dispositional personality, situational cognitive, Information Technology Acceptance, and Information System.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to provide empirical evidence of the relationship between investors’ responses to two events, which are, (1) earnings anouncements, and (2) technical analysis signals, as competing information. This study is motivated by Francis, et al. (2002), whose study used stock analyst’s recommendations as competing information in the U.S stock market. To extend that idea, this study uses technical analysis signals as competing information in the Indonesian stock market. Using Indonesian data from 2007-2012, this study shows that there are price reactions on the day of a technical analysis signal’s release, which is prior to earnings announcements. It means that investors react to the emergence of competing information. Reactions on earnings announcements also produce a negative relationship with the reaction to a technical analysis signal before an earnings announcement. This study gives evidence about the importance of technical analysis as competing information to earnings announcements.

Abstract

This study predict potential resistance of IT adoption from perspective of cognitive and personality. Research conducted on 30 employees of PT. Berau Coal and 54 employees of PDAM Boyolali who are undergoing the process of migration of ERP and e-billing. Nonprobability sampling procedure was using in this research with purposive-judgment techniques. Primary data retrieved through a questionnaire with a closed question format. Hypothesis testing conducted using Partial Least Square with software applications 2.0.M3 version SmartPLS. The results show only the cognitive factors have positively influence on intention to adopt ERP and e-billing. This finding reinforces that the development of IT adoption theory will lead to perceptual factors. Also, this finding indicates that the employees of PT. Beraucoal and PDAM Boyolali have great intentions to use IT in term of ERP and ebilling migration process. Managerial implication and further researches are discussed.

Abstract

This study investigates a permanent issue about low association between accounting fundamentals and variations of stock prices. It induces not only historical accountingfundamentals, but also forward looking information. Investors consider forward looking information that enables them to predict potential future cash flow, increase predictive power, lessen mispricing error, increase information content and drives future price equilibrium. The accounting fundamentals are earnings yield, book value, profitability, growth opportunities and discount rate or they could be called as five-related-cash flow factors. The forward looking information are expected earnings and expected growth opportunities. This study suggests that model inducing forward looking information could improve association degree between accounting fundamentals and the movements of stock prices. In other words, they have higher value relevance than not by inducing. Finally, thisstudy concludes that inducing forward looking information could predict stock price accurately and reduce stock price deviations from their fundamental value. It also impliesthat trading strategies should realize to firm’s future rational expectations. Keywords: earnings yield, book value, profitability, growth opportunities, discount rate, accounting fundamentals, forward looking, value relevance

Abstract

Flood risk assessment of Ofu River Catchment in Nigeria was carried out by integration of thematic maps in ArcGIS 10.2.2. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied in the decision making and ranking of flood causative factors before their integration for development of hazard map in ArcGIS. The social and physical vulnerability of the catchment were considered in the development of the vulnerability map. The flood risk map was developed as a product of the hazard and vulnerability map. The results showed that the land areas within the Very High and High Risk zones were respectively 163.07 km2 and 392.63 km2 with Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area (LGA) accounting for about 62% and 31% respectively. A total of 19, 034 and 47,652 persons are respectively at very high and high risk of flood within the catchment. Oforachi community in Igalamela/Odolu LGA and Ejule Ojebe Community in Ibaji LGA both in Kogi State are respectively at Very High and High Risk of Ofu River flood. High Impacts were recorded by about 35% and 52% of Oforachi Community during the 1995 and 2000 historical flood events. A watershed management plan is therefore required to prevent the serious damage experienced in previous flood events.

Abstract

The centrality of information and communication technology in enhancing inclusive teaching and learning makes their access and use an imperative for all students at all levels of education.Persons with visual impairment tend to face major barriers in using the same ICT devices that ordinary persons and other disabled persons can use. A quantitative study was conducted with 35 students with visual impairment enrolled in two public universities in Uganda to explore the extent to which they accessed and utilized ICTs. Data was collected using face-to-face interviews and analyzed using IBM SPSS version 20. The study found that most of the students were intermediate ICT users (40%) or beginners (37%), while a majority (70.4%) connected to the internet via WIFI hotspots. More than half of the students (60%) knew that their university had an e-learning platform, but a majority of the students had never uploaded/downloaded any learning materials from their universities' websites.  Less than half of the students (46%) were confident to produce text using a word processing program but only few could use power point (12%) and excel (8.6%) applications. To improve students with disabilities' access and use of ICTs, multiple actions are required, including equipping departments with computers, ensuring the computers are in accessible locations, giving the students opportunity to practice, and purchasing licensed adapted software applications.
