Abstract

An online academic information system is potentially exposed to various threats from internal and external sources, which may compromise the institution's objectives if not managed effectively and appropriately. Academic portals often experience issues such as server downtime and unauthorised access attempts. However, there is no specific documentation dedicated to managing these issues. This study aims to analyze risk management in information security for the academic portal of Universitas Riau, Indonesia. The study employs the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 27005:2018 standard and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 security controls, following four key stages: context establishment, risk assessment, risk treatment, and recommendations. The findings identify eight categories of information system assets, 30 identified threats, and 43 vulnerabilities, including two high-risk categories, 19 medium-risk categories, and 22 low-risk categories. Of the 43 vulnerabilities, 21 risks required risk modification, four required risk avoidance, and four required risk sharing. Fourteen risks, which can be managed through risk retention (acceptance of risk), fall under the category of risk acceptance. Furthermore, ISO/IEC 27001 suggests that implementing control recommendations can minimize and effectively address these risks. Nevertheless, this study focuses primarily on information security risks and does not extensively cover related areas such as data privacy, regulatory compliance, or operational risks. Future research can explore the effectiveness of training programs and awareness campaigns in reducing human-related risks, such as phishing and social engineering attacks.

Abstract

Estimating the quantity of take-off and scheduling is crucial in a project life cycle. Errors in the calculation of quantity take-off and scheduling can result in the amount of budget costs incurred and the length of time of the development process. The development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has provided benefits in solving problems faced by the construction industry. This study aims to calculate the Quantity Take-Off and find out the difference from the calculation of costs on building structural components (concrete and rebar volumes), as well as to make simulation for work progress. The BIM software used is Cubicost TAS (Take-off Architecture Structure) to create 3D modeling and Cubicost TRB (Take-off Reinforcement Bar) for Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) calculations. Meanwhile, scheduling simulation is conducted using Autodesk Naviswork. The results showed that the 3D BIM approach resulted in a smaller total concrete volume with a difference of 2.38% (lower 41.11 m3) than the conventional method. Similarly, for rebar material needs, it showed that the difference in rebar volume is 10.83% (30236.42 kg) smaller than conventional methods. The simulation results in 3D form show that using BIM Naviswork can help monitor the work progress between the design and the field according to the planned time based on the 3D model so that it looks more real-time.

Abstract

Background: The use of information resources by the Library and Information Science (LIS) undergraduate students in Delta State, Nigeria, was addressed based on diverse learning preferences, a critical factor potentially influencing academic success. Purpose: This research aimed to explore learning preferences among LIS undergraduate students and assess the influence on the use of information resources. Method: A correlational research design was applied, including 325 students selected through multi-stage sampling from seven state-owned universities in Delta, Edo, and Rivers states. Furthermore, data were collected through questionnaires, with 268 valid responses at an 82% retrieval rate. These were analyzed with descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and mean) as well as inferential statistics (Pearson’s product-moment coefficient, and ANOVA), with a criterion mean of 2.50 and an alpha level of 0.05. Result: The results showed that the students had varied learning preferences, including verbal presentations (68%), physical interaction with materials (66%), and watching educational videos (64%). Preferences significantly influenced the use of information resources (Agg. x̄ = 2.83), with a positive correlation between these two variables (r = .907, p < 0.05). Additionally, a significant difference was observed between the education level of students and learning preferences (F = 2,265 = 1189.172, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The students were found to benefit majorly from the combination of traditional and modern teaching methods. Mutual collaboration between university librarians and coordinators of information resources with the faculty was recommended to ensure the correspondence of educational materials to learning preferences.

Abstract

Threats that often attack information systems such as data leakage, credentials (account compromise),phishing, web-based attacks, malware attacks, cracking (piracy), carding (illegal transactions) and so on. These types ofcrimes can certainly be prevented and handled which is the responsibility of the company/organization. Informationsecurity is an effort to protect information assets from potential threats. Information security indirectly ensures businesscontinuity, reduces emerging risks, and makes it possible to optimize return on investment. The CIA Triad InformationSecurity aspect in information and data systems is very important as a guideline or basic framework, because in it thereare indicators in preventing Cyber Crime. Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (Polbeng) as one of the State VocationalUniversities in Indonesia already uses SIAKADCloud, a SEVIMA product as an integrated academic managementinformation system. In addition, SEVIMA also claims that SIAKADCloud is a secure system. However, so far it has notbeen possible to ascertain the extent of its security. It is also necessary to know whether in its implementationSiakadCloud has implemented basic security standards in accordance with the CIA Triad, namely Confidentiality,Integrity, and Availability. To find out the application of Confidentiality do Block Direct, To find out the application ofIntegrity do User and Data filtering checks: user level division, while to find out the application of Availability doauthentication.

Abstract

Measuring service quality and public satisfaction is important to support the sustainability of an organization. Excellent service will foster user satisfaction and loyalty. The measuring of service quality in the library uses LibQual method which consists of affect of service variable, information control variable, and library as place variable. In this study, the researcher added one more variable, namely library image. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the four variables on the satisfaction and loyalty of users of the National Library services. The research method used is quantitative causality. Testing the causel relationship between affect of service, information control, library as place, library image, satisfaction, and loyalty factors using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) approach. From the results of the direct hypothesis testing, it can be seen that the affect of service and library image factors have an effect on satisfaction, while information control and library as place do not affect satisfaction. Likewise, the satisfaction variable has an effect on loyalty. From the indirect hypothesis testing (mediation), it was found that satisfaction can mediate the affect of service and library image factors on user loyalty, while satisfaction cannot mediate the information control and library as place factors on satisfaction. The results of the study are expected to provide an empirical basis in the development of LibQual theory and a managerial basis for public services at the National Library.
