Abstract

Solidarity is a process of partiality of the attitudes and views of the Church, namely care for those who are weak and poor and excluded from the formulation of preferential options for the poor. Solidarity have to return to the gospel, learn from Jesus himself who proclaimed God's Kingdom, is present and involved in the world. In solidarity man finds God, the Creator, in his fellow creatures and nature. Solidarity finally changes people in three ways, namely the perception of God, the praxis of life, and the life of prayer which all lead to one and the same thing that is God The Creator who has saved all creation. Solidarity must be manifested in the praxis of daily life in favor of the poor and oppressed.

Abstract

Abstract

This research raises the issue of water in the framework of the theme of world water day 2021, managing water to maintain life, in a review of hermeneutics theology. The main question to be answered is what is the contribution (study and solution) of hermeneutics theology to the problem of water in order to maintain life? This research includes literature research and is qualitative in nature which aims to construct meaning on selected reading sources. The method used is critical hermeneutic reading on written and selected sources as material to build a discourse on water. Critical hermeneutics is the art of understanding reality through virtue and practical action (phronesis) which starts from self-criticism and raises the morality of living just and good with other creatures, in this case with water. This study finds that through the study of hermeneutics theology, water is a sacred gift of God, namely God’s self-gift for the entire created world. Water is a public theological issue that crosses faiths and cultures, forming a cosmic interfaith and cultural fellowship that fertilizes each other in a sustainable web of life.

Abstract

This paper is a theological reflection of John 18:28-40. This theological reflection is used as a basic principle of living in the midst of the digital era, especially to fight the culture of fear of missing out (FOMO). This passage is part of the story of the passion of Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of John, the story of Jesus before Pilate is dominated by Jesus’ dialogue with Pilate. In this dialogue, Jesus is shown as the King who proclaims the truth but Pilate rejects this testimony of Jesus. With a strong element of drama in the Gospel of John, the readers of the Gospel will be invited to believe that truth is God’s revelation that requires human participatory communication. The theological reflection that I want to emphasize is that dialogue with Jesus leads people to the depths to understand the mystery of God. But people who are caught up in FOMO have a shallow view of life. People who experience FOMO actually experience isolation and loneliness and then look for shortcuts. Deep dialogue with Jesus is necessary to gain spiritual strength to face isolation and loneliness in life.

Abstract

This study is to explain the implication and relevance of a perichoresis communion of the Trinitarian God for a socio-political life. Relationship of the three persons of the triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to one another reflects a profound equality as well as mutual respect though each has and exercises a different role to create a meaningful work together. These virtues of equality and mutual respect can serve as a model for our socio-political life in today’s world continuously marked by war, discrimination, injustice, poverty or totalitarianism. The research methodology used in this study is a library study of the concept of the fellowship of the Triune God, according to Leonardo Boff.. This study came to a conclusion that the respective model of Trinitarian perichoresis can really serve as a model of socio-political life and as encouragement to welcome and respect plurality as well as an improved democratic government

Abstract

AbstractThis article investigates the possibility of the presence of the Church in the the public space through the presence of Christian persons in their various everyday spheres. By employing the dyadic understanding of abiding-and-go (Michael Gorman) and abiding-and-sending (the Generous Love document), I argue that Christians represent the whole church in their presence in the public space. In turn, by representing the whole church, Christians also make the Trinitarian communion present through their public engagement. As such, the church participates in God’s mission (missio Dei) both institutionally and personally.

Abstract

AbstractDeath is usually seen as the end of everything. So many people try and build an effort to run from death in so many ways, both conventional and modern, from the traditional one to the high technology usage. However, whatever we do, we finally face death. The fear of death sometimes makes humans run from it, make a tranquilization, an inauthentic attitude, or according to Heidegger “inauthenticity of being-toward-death”. Consequently, so many opportunities for a meaningful life are left behind. By using the qualitative method through literature research, this inquiry comes to a reflection of the meaning of life in the face of death in the frame of comparative study. This paper is based on Heidegger’s argument in his book Sein und Zeit (SZ). A new terminology he built, Sein-zum-Tode, stimulates various questions vis-a-vis the reality of life encountered by the entire society in today’s world. Are there any relevances of his argument on death to build a meaningful life here and now? To make a balance of reflection, this paper presents the theological perspective of Karl Rahner, Heidegger’s former student. By comparing these two thinkers, between a philosopher and a theologian, the author comes to a reflection that the mystery of death must be understood in relation to the creative and meaningful life in this worldAbstraksiKematian biasanya dipandang sebagai akhir dari segalanya.

Abstract

AbstractSocial media as the prominent phenomenon of digital culture has become the infrastructure for social and political movements. Digital media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have become practical tools for social movements, especially for communicating, organizing, and gaining wider publicity. However, a more careful study shows that activism on social media can only become an impactful socio-political movement if it meets the requirements of contemporary culture. Social media apparently does not support the absorption and deepening of complex discourses or difficult issues. In addition, direct (offline) activities, namely traditional forms of organization, are absolutely necessary for resilient and impactful social movements. These findings are in line with the study of social movements in the Catholic Church. Only through direct action in the offline realm can social movements foster spirituality, empower people, manifest a sense of solidarity, and become deep collective movements that inspire continuous effort for the sake of the common good.

Abstract

AbstractPapua experienced turmoil almost every year and often becomes an interesting subject for public discourse. However, Papuans are powerless when it comes to determining their own future. For sixty years (1962-2022), Papuans have to survive amidst the smell of bloodshed and the sounds of gunshots, demonstrations, lamentations, and other commotions that hinder human development. These have invited various parties to gather and think for solutions for peace. Despite this, the ideology of “NKRI Harga Mati” (Non-negotiable Sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia) has gained more popularity than the humane concept of Pancasila. The conflict driven by populist ideology has created scars in the history of the indigenous people of Papua, especially for Papuan women. The 117 years (1905-2022) of the Gospel preached in Papua has not been sufficient to liberate the Papuans. The patriarchy that preaches justice and humanity is likened to a fashion show for false generosity. They cry out for justice and yet they oppress Papuan women. This experience calls for a theological reflection from the lives of Papuan women. In using Delores S. William’s womanist theological framework, the author will discover how God speaks in the history of Papuan women and how God acts through their being.
