Untuk melestarikan kesatuan dalam hidup berbangsa dalam kebinekaan Indonesia, peran pendidikan agama amatlah penting. Mengingat pendidikan agama merupakan pelajaran wajib di semua jenjang sekolah formal, ada kebutuhan mendesak untuk merancang sebuah model pendidikan agama yang mempunyai kontribusi secara optimal bagi pelestarian kebinekatunggalikaan Indonesia. Penelitian kualitatif dengan metode kajian pustaka ini berfokus pada upaya mengekslorasi gagasan Y. B. Mangunwijaya tentang pendidikan agama sebagai proses dialog kehidupan. Dalam pandangan Y. B. Mangunwijaya, model pendidikan agama sebagai proses komunikasi iman perlu dikembangkan dan dipraktikkan agar anak-anak bangsa bertumbuh dalam kesetiakawanan, menghargai perbedaan, dan memiliki ketrampilan hidup bersama dalam kebinekaan. Komunikasi iman merupakan model pendidikan agama yang menghargai setiap pribadi dengan segala keunikannya. Proses pembelajaran agama dengan model komunikasi iman memberi ruang bagi setiap pribadi untuk berdialog secara egaliter, saling menumbuhkan kepekaan sosial dan terbuka untuk bekerjasama dalam mewujudkan perkembangan hidup bersama. Isi pokok pembelajaran komunikasi lintas iman adalah pengalaman setiap pribadi dalam relasi dengan Tuhan, sesama dan lingkungan sekitar. Komunikasi pengalaman iman yang dikembangkan di sekolah perlu dilengkapi dengan pelaksanaan tanggungjawab orang tua dan institusi agama untuk menumbuhkan pemahaman, kesadaran, sikap dan perilaku hidup beragama setiap pribadi sesuai dengan agama yang dianut.

Konsep berteologi publik apa yang sesuai dengan masyarakat kepulauan juga harus disesuaikan dengan konteks spesifik tersebut. Penelitian ini akan membangun sebuah argumen untuk sebuah teologi publik bagi masyarakat kepulauan berdasarkan pilihan model berteologi yang ada. Melalui penelitian kepustakaan, makalah memperlihatkan beberapa model berteologi dari E. Harold Breitenberg Jr. dan Eneida Jacobsen. Breitenberg berargumen bahwa teologi di ruang publik harusnya bersifat komunal, dan Jacobsen memberi beberapa model cara teologi hadir di ruang publik: disclosure (secara jelas menunjukkan bahasa teologis), universal (berbahasa yang dipahami publik, namun tidak menunjukkan secara kuat latar belakang teologisnya), dan factual (berkarya secara nyata). Melalui penelusuran konteks Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor yang berada di kepulauan provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, makalah ini menunjukkan bahwa model berteologi di konteks kepulauan adalah model komunal yang menampilkan teologinya secara nyata (disclosure) dan pada saat yang sama juga mengerjakan karya nyata di jemaat (factual). Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor sudah memiliki landasan teologi yang kuat dalam Pokok-pokok Eklesiologi GMIT yang mendorong mereka untuk terlibat dalam percakapan mengenai kemiskinan dan membangun percakapan lebih serius mengenai ekoteologi.

This article explores Paul’s ideas about humanity in his letter to Philemon. The issue discussed in the present correspondence pertains to Onesimus, an enslaved individual who absconded from the domicile of Philemon. As an enslaved person, Onesimus prefers to meet Paul in prison more than anywhere else. Philemon was a follower of Christ, who Paul had converted. However, Philemon is a prominent individual who possesses an enslaved person that goes by the name of Onesimus. Paul has identified a problematic issue with Philemon about his slave. Paul teaches love among them by defending Onesimus’ humanity without having a conflict with Philemon. Upon reflecting on the matter, Paul realizes that Philemon exercises a harmful employer over Onesimus. Therefore, Paul sent a letter to Philemon as a herald of Christ. This letter remarks on the request to Philemon to accept Onesimus as his brother and pardon him as a form of acquittal. Despite Paul’s proposition’s weighty obligation, Philemon, as a Christian, must comply. Additionally, the author employs the historical-critical method to ascertain the interpretation of the concept of humanity as articulated by Paul in his epistle to Philemon. Through this approach, it is possible to offer a comprehensive explanation of the text of the Scriptures in relation to its historical and contextual underpinnings of authorship.

At the same time as the sense of solidarity among Asian Churches is growing through Federation of Asian Bishop Conference (FABC), the effort to understand what it means to be a Church in Asia becomes more profound. We can mention several theological approaches which trying to reconstruct a distinctive face of the Asian Church, for example Choan-Seng Song who develops contextual theology with a transpositional mode. Starting from his critical position against the tendency of Western-centered nature of Christian theology, Song raised four important elements in a reorientation towards contextual theological exploration, namely vision, community, passion, and "imagi-nation". Besides him, it is also appropriate for us to review the efforts of South Korean theologians, especially Ahn Byung-Mu, in proposing Minjung Theology. For Ahn, a contextual theology should also be liberative. The two theological ideas of contextual-liberative Church above are prompting us to continuously imagine and strive for an Asian ecclesiology, especially in Indonesia.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the use of the holy book (Bible) in the healing rituals performed by the Tona'as in Minahasa, and aims for several groups of local belief adherents in Minahasa to carry out healing rituals that use the holy book and those who do not use the holy book and There are pros and cons in healing rituals. In the experience of the Minahasa people, the use of religious books in the process of carrying out healing rituals has had pros and cons, but this problematic situation has not made religious books disappear in the implementation of rituals. Religious books cannot be separated from sacred reality, because almost all religions have beliefs about the sacred and that belief grows through religious books as a foundation for understanding various religious realities. The theoretical approach that will be used as material for analysis is the theory of religious texts, ideology, culture and community and will also use the theory of rituals from Catherine Bell and some of the severe opinions of sociologists regarding rituals. The research method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The results of the study show that the ritual process which includes Christian religious books, namely the Bible, is a separate way for the local community to construct their beliefs by understanding that there is a sacredization in the ritual process.

Tulisan ini berfokus pada Peran Pusat Pengembangan Anak (PPA) IO-497 Benyamin Oebufu dalam aksi solidaritasnya untuk mengupayakan pemulihan spiritualitas bagi 86 jemaat Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) Benyamin Oebufu yang merasakan langsung dampak bencana siklon Seroja. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui teknik wawancara terstruktur. Melalui proses penelitian didapati ada dua dampak yang memengaruhi spiritualitas jemaat korban bencana siklon Seroja yakni dampak secara materi berupa kehilangan rumah dan secara psikis berupa trauma. Melihat pergumulan yang dihadapi jemaat maka Gereja dan PPA langsung tanggap akan dampak bencana siklon Seroja. Upaya yang dilakukan antara lain seperti melakukan kegiatan trauma healing untuk anak-anak yang terdampak dan bekerja sama dengan Yayasan Compassion Indonesia (YCI) untuk membangun hunian yang baru bagi keluarga yang rumahnya hancur. Upaya yang dilakukan merupakan bentuk solidaritas sebagai manusia yang mempunyai tanggung jawab etis untuk peduli kepada sesama yang menderita, seperti yang dikemukakan oleh Rebecca Todd Peters mengenai empat tugas etika solidaritas. Peran PPA dalam upaya pemulihan telah mencerminkan solidaritas Allah melalui empat tugas itu yakni menghadirkan metanoia (pertobatan/perubahan secara fundamental), menghargai perbedaan, menunjukkan loyalitas-akuntabilitas dan aksi nyata.

The book of Amos is one of the prophetic literatures to be read in every context of human life. While reading Amos 5,18-27 we may ask the question: What is the reason for God to hate Israel’s worship and not accepting their offering? This selected text shows a contrasting movement of relationship between God and Israel. God chooses and makes Israel his own, in order that they would be an instrument of his blessing for others. However, the Israelites failed to practice it in their daily life. In this exegetical paper, I would suggest that neglecting justice for the poor in the society provokes God’s anger to hate Israel’s worship and reject their sacrifice. Concerning the wickedness of Israel, Amos declared that even though Israel desires for the day of Yahweh, it is darkness and not light for them (v.18) and because of their sins, God will send them into exile beyond Damascus (v. 27). God hates their attitude but still loves them as his chosen people. The purpose of Amos’s announcement is to change the hearts of ruling class’s behavior and his basic concern on socioeconomic injustices. Amos’s oracles suggest that the officials got rich in dishonesty. The exile is the consequence of the failure of Israel leaders in leading the people to live in divine will. It becomes the moment for Israel to purify themselves before God and being trained for strengthen their good relationship with Yahweh, their God.

Kapernaum menjadi basis utama karya Yesus. Injil Mat 9: 1 menyebutnya sebagai "kota Yesus". Kapernaum adalah kota asal murid pertama Yesus: Simon, Andreas, Yakobus, dan Yohanes (Mrk 1:29). Fokus penelitian ini adalah meneliti hubungan antara pemilihan para murid pertama Yesus dari antara para nelayan Kapernaum dengan konteks perikanan Danau Galilea pada abad pertama Masehi. Mengapa Yesus memilih Kapernaum sebagai basis karya-Nya di tepi Danau Galilea? Melalui studi literatur, penelitian ini berusaha memahami industri penangkapan ikan para nelayan Kapernaum yang menjadi murid-murid Yesus dalam konteks perikanan di Danau Galilea pada abad pertama Masehi. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa Kapernaum adalah salah satu dari sejumlah pusat ekonomi perikanan di tepi Galilea. Perikanan Galilea tumbuh seiring bertambahnya permintaan produk ikan pada masa itu. Yesus memilih nelayan Galilea sebagai bagian inti dari kedua belas rasul-Nya karena mereka terbiasa bekerja sama dalam paguyuban nelayan, mampu berkomunikasi dengan baik dan terhubung dengan banyak orang dalam konteks penangkapan ikan yang ramai pada abad pertama Masehi di Galilea

This research studies the life experience of interfaith marriage between Christian and Muslem. It aims to answer the following questions: (1) Do religious differences in interfaith marriage partners affect the success of building a family? (2) What are the factors that determine the success of building a family in interfaith couples? This research is qualitative study. The data were collected through the depth interview which were directly done face to face, and indirect interview through WhatsApp and Google Form. Forum Group Discussion was done also with some students who live in the interfaith marriage family. The respondents are cathegorized into the followings: (1) those living in the interfaith marriage between Christian and Muslem, (2) those who converted to other religions following that of the partners, (3) those who converted to the religion of the partners but then reconverted to their previous religions, (4) the parents of the children who do interfaith marriage, and (5) the children who live in the family with interfaith marriage. The results indicate that the difference of religion in the family is not the significant factor which determines the harmonious life in the family. Otherwise, tolerance, mutual concern, and the responsible attitude of each family member in their respective duties and roles are the most important factors. Therefore, the civil and religious laws which prohibit the interfaith marriage are actually not relevant. The civil law does not have authority to interfere the private sectors of family life. Then, religious law which prohibits the interfaith marriage must be revied and understood in its context to strive for the salvation of the religious people.

Fokus penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang kontekstualisasi dokumen Persona Humana 1975 dalam terang model terjemahan Stephen Bevans. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kontekstualisasi Persona Humana dalam terang model terjemahan tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dan pembacaan kritis atas teks (1) Dokumen Persona Humana 1975; (2) Model-model Teologi Kontekstual Stephen Bevans, khusunya model terjemahan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui proses reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan simpulan (verifikasi). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, kontekstualisasi dokumen Persona Humana 1975 terdiri dari satu model, yaitu model terjemahan. Pada model terjemahan tersebut dilakukan melalui upaya pelestarian jati diri Kristen, dengan tetap memperhatikan kebudayaan, perubahan sosial, dan sejarah yang dimiliki oleh Gereja dalam dokumen Persona Humana.
