Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is entitled  “Slang in the  film Suicide Squad by David Ayer”. This research aims are to identify the slangs found  in the Film Suicide Squad, and analyze and describe their forms and meanings.The slangs data were collected from the film script which consists of 41 pages. The writer also uses some theory that related to slang language and definition of slang the theory used in this research is by Bloomfield and Guth. Theoretically, the writer hopes that this research can give some contributions to the enlargement especially of the sociolinguistics field more especially on slang word.From analysis this research, the writer analysis found six types of slang, they are: abbreviation, facetious mispronunciation, shortened, interjection, figurative, nick name (calling person).Form this research, the result show that are 2 slangs in the abbreviation, 10 slangs in facetious mispronunciation, 11 slangs in shortened, 8 slangs in interjection, 11 slangs in figurative, and 18 slangs in nick name.                                                                                                                                          Keyword: Slang, Film Suicide Squad, Bloomfield and Guth’s theory

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is an attempt to identify, classify, and describe the category of convivial speech act in the film “ Another Cinderella Story” by Damon Santostefano. In collecting the data, the writer reads relevant books pertaining to convivial speech act, classify the convivial type and analysis speech aspect. In analyzing the data, the writer uses Leech’s concept descriptively based on pragmatic analysis. The findings of the research show that the kinds and the function of the convivial acts in the film “ Another Cinderella Story” by Damon Santostefano are, offering, thanking, greeting, inviting and congratulating.  It is excpected that the study will help student and readers in learing pragmatics especially on convivial.   _______________________________________________________________ Keywords : pragmatic analysis; convivial function; speech act;

Abstract

ABSTRACT            This research entitled ?Morphophonemic Process in English and Tontemboan Language: A Contrastive Analysis?. This research aims at identifying, analyzing and describing the morphophonemic processes in English and Tontemboan language and finding out the similarities and the differences of the morphophonemic processes by using of Crystal?s (2008) and Nida?s (1949) theories. The method used in this research is descriptive research method. Data were collected from several references some books, journals, and through the interview of some informants. The results of this research show that morphophonemic process in English and Tontemboan language has some similarities and differences. The similarities are both languages have kinds of morphophonemic processes, they are assimilation, loss of consonant phonemes, loss of vowel phonemes, palatalization, and nasalization. The differences are on the dissimilation and reduction of cluster. Other similarities and differences are found in assimilation. English has eight kinds of assimilations, those are progressive, regressive, contiguous phonemes, noncontiguous phonemes, point of articulation, manner of articulation, partial assimilation and complete assimilation whereas Tontemboan language has only seven kinds of assimilations, those are progressive, regressive, contiguous phonemes, point of articulation, manner of articulation, partial assimilation, complete assimilation and doesn?t have noncontiguous phonemes. This research is expected to give beneficial contribution both in theory and practice. Theoretically, it can give contribution to the development of linguistics (morphology), especially about morphophonemic process, and practically, the writer gets the knowledge that the encounter between morphemes. Keyword:  Morphophonemic Process, English and Tontemboan Language, Contrastive Analysis

Abstract

ABSTRACTS This research is entitled “Deiksis Dalam Injil Markus (Analisis Pragmatik)”. There are 5 types of deixis, those are: person deixis (first person, second person, and third person), place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. Deixis belongs to pragmatics. The word deixis come from the Greek deiktikos, which means, „pointing‟. The objectives of this research are to identify and classify the types of deixis and to analyze the use of deixis in the Gospel of Mark. The method used in this research was is descriptive method. The data were identified, classified and analyzed descriptively. The data were analyzed based on Levinson theory. The result of this research shows there are five types of deixis that could be found in the Gospel of Mark. They are person deixis (first person: I, me, and our second person: you, your, you‟r brother‟s, and third person: he, his), place deixis: (home, marketplace, here, mountain, hometown, gethsemane, courtyard), time deixis: (when), discourse deixis: (that and this, and social deixis: tax collectors, disciples, The Lord, teacher). It is expected that this research will help the students and the other readers to learn the pragmatics aspect, especially about deixis.  Keyword : Deixis, Gospel of Mark, Pragmatics, Injil Markus.

Abstract

ABSTRACT                  This research entitled “Analisis Kata Pinjaman Bahasa Inggris dalam Istilah Biologi Bahasa Indonesia”.The objectives of research are to find out the kinds and the changes of the meanings of English loanwords in Indonesian language. In analysing the data, the writer uses Haugen’s theory to find out the types and Baugh’s theory to get the changes of the meanings. To support the analysis, the writer uses Oxford Dictionary and Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia.The result of this research show that based on the theory of Haugen there are three kinds of loanword. Those are loanword without phonemic substitution, loanword with partial phonemic substitution, loanword with complete phonemic substitution and there are two kinds of the changes of meaning such as extension, narrowing, regeneration, and degeneration. Keywords: Loanwords, Changes of meaning, Biological terminology,Sociolinguistics

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research is entitled ?Students? Perception on the Use of English Songs for Learning English?. The objectives of the research are to identify, classify, and describe the students? perception about learning English using song. Also, it is to analyze and describe the aspects of learning that can increase students? English skills through listening English song. This research used descriptive method. The writer collected data by interviewing 20 participants at English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Sam Ratulangi University. The writer has found seven perceptions as the result of this research They are The Use of English songs to learning English is fun; not boring; effective learning media; entertaining; media to learn about culture; encouragement to learn; improve brain capacity. In this research, the writer also found improvement in students? vocabulary, pronounciation, listening and speaking skills. There are 15 students feel the improvement in their vocabulary skill, 16 students in pronounciation skill, 15 students in listening skill and 17 students in speaking skill.  Keywords: Students? perception, English Learning, Learning media, Song

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research entitles ?Analisis Tanda dalam Film The Black Panther Karya Ryan Coogler?. The aims of this research are to identify and classify the types of signs as well as to analyze the meaning of signs used in The Black Panther film. The writer uses the theory of Charles Sanders Pierce in the process of identifying, classifying, and analyzing each scene containing the signs used the representament aspect. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. To finish this study, the writer read some concepts related to the title about sign analysis and also downloaded resources from the internet. In collecting the data, the writer has watched 15 times The Black Panther film which is the object of the research. In addition to watching, the writer took pieces of images or visuals (screenshoot) from film scenes that are needed for research. The result of this research shows that based on the theory of Pierce there are three types of signs, namely icons, indexes, and symbols. There are 6 icon, 10 index, and 11 symbol. They were found from 22 scenes in The Black Panther film and each sign has different meanings. Keywords: Sign, Black Panther Film, Descriptive Methods

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research entitled “Afiks-Afiks Derivasi Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Talaud Dialek Nanusa (Suatu Analisis Kontrastif)”, aims at describing and analyzing the derivational affixes in English and Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect in term of form, function, and meaning in verb, noun, adjective and adverb. The objectives of this research is to find similarities and differences of derivational affixes in English and Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect by using William O‟Grady‟s (1987) theory and contrasting by using Lado‟s method.  This research used descriptive method. The data for English derivational affixes were collected from English textbook, namely Contemporary  Linguistic Analysis : An Introduction (1987) by O‟Grady and for Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect were taken from four native speakers as informants who were born and lived in Mamahan village, Talaud island.  The results of this research show either English or Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect has affixes of verb, noun, adjective and adverb derivation. Derivational affixes process in English through prefixes and suffixes while in Talauud language Nanusa‟s dialect through prefixes, infixes, suffixes and confixes.  Both English and Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect have derivational prefixes which have negative meaning. In context of proffesion or job, English derivational affixes process through suffixation; meanwhile, Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect through infixation.  Key Words : Derivational Affixes of English, Talaud language Nanusa‟s dialect,   Contrastive Analysis

Abstract

ABSRACT             Auxiliary verb is also called as ?helping verb?. In English language there are two types of auxiliary verbs those are Primary auxiliary verbs and Modal auxiliary verbs. This research is entitled: ?Primary Auxiliary Verbs on The Novel Emma Volume III by Jane Austen? as the requirement to accomplish the Bachelor?s Degree in the Faculty of Humanities of English major, Sam Ratulangi University. This research aims to identify forms, classify criteria, and analyze the function of primary auxiliary verb in the novel Emma volume III by Jane Austen. The Writer used concept from Muir that discusses are be, have, do as the primary auxiliary verbs and they had four main criteria include negation, inversion, substitution and marked positive. The Writer also used concept from Quirk et all that discusses two functions of primary auxiliary verb are function as a main verb and function as an auxiliary. The result of this study The Writer have found 16 forms of primary auxiliary verbs those are 8 forms of  be (am, is, are, was, were, be, been, being), 3 forms of have (have, had, has), and 5 forms of do (do, did, does, doing, and done) with 4 main criteria include negation, inversion, substitution, and marked positive. The Writer also found 2 function of primary auxiliary verb those are function as a copula and as an auxiliary.  Keywords: primary auxiliary verb, syntax, novel ?Emma?
