Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the type and diversity of macrobenthos that inhabit the aggregation of Septifer bilocularis shellfish in the coastal waters of Tiwoho, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. Sampling of macrobenthos was carried out using core (PVC), both at the position of small aggregation (AK), middle large aggregation (ABT), and large edge aggregation (ABP). Sampling was carried out 4 times on different aggregations of shellfish. The data has been analyzed using the Diversity Index (H), the dominance index (D), and the Uniformity Index (E). It was identified that there were 25 types of macrobenthos occupying all aggregations of septifer bilocularis shells, which came from 11 classes including Gastropods, Bivalves, Malacostraca, Florideiphyceae, Ulvophyceae Ophiuroidea, Clitelatta, Maxillopoda, Globothalamea, Tubothalamea and Phaeophyceae. Biota diversity index varies from 1.60 – 1.70 which indicates that the biota in each aggregation has moderate diversity. The uniformity index value also varied, namely 0.069 for macrobenthos occupying the small aggregation (AK), then 0.066 in the middle large aggregation (ABT) and 0.064 in the large margin aggregation (GBP), which indicates the low uniformity of the macrobenthos in each aggregation. The dominance index of all aggregations was obtained between 0.27 - 0.36, which indicates that there is no species dominance for macrobenthos occupying different shellfish aggregations.Keywords: Diversity, Macrobenthos, Septifer bilocularis, Tiwoho

Abstract

The information about mangrove forest community structure in Tapuang village has never been reported. The location of the mangrove forest in this village is near  to the settlements. Three line transects with 50 m distance were laid perpendicular to the shore. In each line transect, 5 quadrants (10 x 10 m2) were established. The data were analyzed using several parameters density, frequency, dominance, important index value and diversity. This study found 5 mangrove species namely Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia ovata, Rhizophora stylosa and Nypa fruticans. Avicennia marina was the most species found in each transects and had the highest density, frequency, and dominance values.  The highest important value index (INP) was found in  Avicennia marina  in transect 2 with a INP value 183.80. Mangrove species diversity index for tree category in each transect was low (H'≤1) ranges from 0.99.Key Words: Tapuang Village, Mangrove, Community Structure

Abstract

Mangrove forests play an important role in mitigating the effects of global warming as mangroves can absorbs and stores carbon therefor, mangrove plants including A. marina can act as carbon sinks. The study aim is to estimate the carbon content contained in A. marina pneumatophore biomass. The data was taken b using line transect method. The number of research stations are 3 stations contain 3 plots (10 x 10 m2) for each station. Samples were taken at low tide by established 3 microplots (50 x 50 cm2) in each 10 x10 m2 plots. The results showed that the highest biomass value was found at Station 3 of 0.49 Kg/m2, followed by Station 1 of 0.42 Kg/m2, and the least pneumatophore biomass value was found at Station 2 of 0.41 Kg/m2.  This finding is in line to the potenntial potential carbon content in pneumatophores where Station 3 has C content (0.08 Kg C/m2), dand 0.07 Kg C/m2 for both station 1 and 2 respectively. Abstract

Seagrass is the main component of the seagrass bed ecosystem. The existence andproductivity of seagrass beds have a very important ecological role for life in the sea and on land. Thisresearch is to determine the type of seagrass, to determine the condition and structure of the seagrasscommunity and environmental parameters on the coast of Basaan Satu Village. The method that theauthor uses is the quadratic transect method. This method is usually used to observe the communitystructure of seagrass beds using a line transect of 50 m and a square of 50×50 cm². Seagrass speciesidentified in the coastal waters of Basaan Satu Village, Ratatotok District, Southeast MinahasaRegency, namely as many as 5 species including Syringodium isoetifolium, Thalassia hemprichii,Halodule uninervis, Halodule pinifolia, Enhalus acoroides and cymodocea rotundata. Seagrass coverper species was dominated by the species Syringodium isoetifolium, the highest density was for thespecies Syringodium isoetifolium, the highest important value index for seagrass was found for thespecies Thalassia hemprichii with a value of 102.26%, the diversity index value was 0.93 which wasclassified as moderate, and the index value dominance is equal to 0.53. low category. Environmentalparameters of seagrass beds at the study site have a range of values: temperature 31.47-33.39°C,salinity 29.08-30.49 ppt, dissolved oxygen 6.55-9.67, pH 9.23- 9.94, turbidity 0-2.6, and the substratefound was sand, muddy sand, crushed coral sand, and coral rubble.Keywords: Seagrass Conditions, Community Structure, Basaan Satu Village ABSTRAKLamun merupakan komponen utama penyusun ekosistem padang lamun. Keberadaan danproduktivitas padang lamun memiliki peranan ekologi yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan di lautmaupun di darat. Penelitian ini Untuk mengetahui jenis lamun, Untuk mengetahui kondisi dan strukturkomonitas padang lamun dan parameter lingkungan di pantai Desa Basaan Satu. Metode yang penulisgunakan yaitu metode transek kuadrat. Metode ini biasanya di pakai untuk mengamati strukturkomunitas padang lamun menggunakan line transek 50 m dan kuadrat 50×50 cm². Spesies lamun yangteridentifikasi di perairan pantai Desa Basaan Satu Kecamatan Ratatotok Kabupaten MinahasaTenggara, yaitu sebanyak 5 spesies diantaranya sebagai berikut Syringodium isoetifolium, Thalassiahemprichii, Halodule uninervis, Halodule pinifolia, Enhalus acoroides dan cymodocea rotundata.Tutupan lamun per jenis didominasi oleh spesies Syringodium isoetifolium, kepadatan jenis tertinggipada spesies Syringodium isoetifolium, Indeks nilai penting lamun tertinggi terdapat pada spesiesThalassia hemprichii dengan nilai sebesar 102,26%, nilai indeks keanekaragaman yaitu 0,93 yangtergolong sedang, dan nilai indeks dominasi yaitu sebesar 0,53. kategori rendah. Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the types of fish in the deep sea ecosystem in the Manado Bay area, and to measure the water quality (temperature and salinity) at the study site. The study began with exploration of deep sea locations in Manado Bay, then determined the location of the station consisting of 3 fishing points determined randomly. Determination of depth using the Fish Finder. The method used in obtaining deep sea fish species is the Jigging technique. This technique uses artificial bait with a base of tin, stainless steel wire and a hologram. Some of the data measured from the research are fish species, morphometrics, and water quality. Based on water quality data (temperature and salinity), the waters of Manado Bay have sea surface temperatures ranging from 28.00C and 29.70C and surface salinity in the waters ranges from 33.19 ppt and 34.67 ppt. The types of deep sea fish obtained were 7 species spread out at station 1 there were 4 species consisting of Brama australis, Thysites atun, Lepidocybium flavobrunneum, Sphyraena barracuda, Gymnosarda unicolor, Carcharodon carcharias, Gempylus serpens. The number of fish recorded from the research is 41 individuals. The most common type found was Thyrsites atun, which consisted of 25 individuals spread out at stations 2 and 3.Keywords: fish in the deep sea, Jigging technique, temperature, salinity

Abstract

Mangrove forests have a role as an absorber of carbon dioxide (CO2) from air and sea therefore they play an important role in mitigating climate change. The problems that exist today are the decline in the area of mangrove forests due to the conversion of land functions into ponds, and development in coastal areas. Decrease of mangrove forest areas can lead to reduced its ability to absorb and storage carbon dioxide (CO2). The purposes of this study were to analyze litter carbon content of mangrove leaf litter in the mangrove forest of Pontoh Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency and estimate the carbon content (C) in mangrove litter per hectare per year. Based on the results of the analysis, the total average percentage of carbon content in mangrove litter in Ponto Village, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency was 29.71% C/day, and from the estimation results, the average carbon content (C) in mangrove litter is 3.68 tons/ha/year. Key Word: mangrove, litter, carbon content ABSTRAK Hutan mangrove memiliki peran sebagai penyerap karbondioksida (CO2) dari udara sehingga berperan penting untuk mitigasi perubahan iklim. Permasalahan yang ada saat ini yaitu berkurangnya luas kawasan hutan mangrove akibat pengalihan fungsi lahan menjadi tambak, dan pembangunan di kawasan pesisir. Apabila berkurangnya kawasan hutan mangrove maka dapat menyebabkan berkurangnya sumber penyerapan dan penyimpanan karbodioksida (CO2). Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis kandungan karbon pada serasah daun mangrove hutan mangrove Desa Lansa, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara dan mengestimasi Kandungan Karbon (C) pada serasah mangrove per luasan hektar per tahun. Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapatkan total rata-rata persentase kandungan karbon serasah mangrove di Desa Ponto, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara yakni sebesar 29,71% C/hari, serta dari hasil estimasi didapatkan rata-rata kandungan karbon (C) pada serasah mangrove sebesar 3,68 ton/ha/tahun. Abstract

Seagrasses are flowering plants (Angiosperms) that are fully adapted to aquatic environments. Seagrasses are capable of living in salt water; even though it is immersed in salty water, it still functionsnormally. The function and role of seagrasses depend on the number of leaf blades, leaf length, leafwidth, and total biomass, all of which are highly determined by local conditions. This research wasconducted in Southeast Minahasa Regency in Pantai Borgo Village, Belang District and Beach Villageof Basaan I, Ratatotok District. This study aims to measure the morphometrics and meristics of seagrassspecies Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii and Syringodium isoetifolium. Sampling of seagrasswas carried out using the cruising survey method, as many as 10 individuals for each species at eachstudy location, samples were taken using a knife and washed and put into plastic samples. Thenmeasured using a caliper ruler. The results obtained from the three seagrass species Enhalusacoroides, Thalassia hemprichii and Syringodium isoetifolium are different in morphometric and meristicsizes of the three seagrasses which are larger in Basaan I Beach compared to those in Borgo Beach.This is because in Borgo Beach there are many human activities that greatly affect the activity ofmorphometric and meristic sizes which in turn also affect the growth of seagrass. This difference isthought to be due to the high activity of the people who live around Borgo beach in the form of householdwaste disposal and fishing activities, namely the intensity of boat traffic and boat moorings, while onPasir Panjang Beach, Basan I Village is far from residential areas and is a tourist area that is not yetvery touristy. Stout is known by many people so it is still in good condition and maintained. Measurementof environmental parameters of the waters of Borgo Village Beach and Basaan I Village Beach are stillin optimum conditions for seagrass plants and development. Lamun mampu hidup di air asin; meski terbenam dalam air asin lamun tetapberfungsi normal. Fungsi dan peranan lamun, bergantung pada jumlah helaian daun, panjang daun,lebar daun, serta biomassa total, yang kesemuanya itu sangat ditentukan kondisi setempat. Penelitianini dilakukan di Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara di Pantai Desa Borgo Kecamatan Belang dan PantaiDesa Basaan I Kecamatan Ratatotok. Penelitin ini bertujuan untuk mengukur morfometrik dan meristiklamun jenis Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii dan Syringodium isoetifolium. Pengambilansampel lamun dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survei jelajah, sebanyak 10 individu untukmasing-masing jenis di setiap lokasi penelitian, sampel diambil dengan mengunakan pisau dicuci dandimasukkan kedalam plastik sampel. Kemudian diukur dengan menggunakan mistar kaliper. Hasil yangdiperoleh dari ketiga lamun jenis Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii dan Syringodium isoetifoliumadalah berbeda ukuran morfomertik dan meristik dari ketiga lamun tersebut lebih besar yang berada diPantai Basaan I dibandingkan dengan yang ada di Pantai Borgo. Hal ini di karenakan di Pantai Borgobanyak terjadi aktivitas manusia yang sangat mempegaruhi aktivitas ukuran morfometrik dan meristik yang akhirnya juga berpengaruh pada pertumbuhan lamun. Perbedaan ini diduga karena tingginyaaktifitas penduduk yang bermukim disekitar pantai Borgo berupa pembuangan limbah rumah tanggaserta aktivitas kegiatan perikanan yaitu intensitas lalu lalang perahu serta tempat tambatan perahu,sedangkan di Pantai pasir panjang Desa Basan I jauh dari pemukiman warga dan merupakan daerahwisata yang belum terlalu bayak diketahui oleh banyak orang sehingga masih memiliki kondisi yangbaik dan terjaga. Pengukuran parameter lingkungan perairan Pantai Desa Borgo dan Pantai DesaBasaan I masih dalam kondisi yang optimum bagi tumbuhan dan perkembangan lamun. Abstract

This research was conducted in Bulutui Village, West Likupang District, related to theproblems raised how is the solubility of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and the pH of sediment-insertedwater at mangrove locations, and on the coast, then this research aims to find out how the solubility ofoxygen (DO), and acidity (pH) of sediment-inserted water in mangrove ecosystems and on the coastin Bulutui Village, West Likupang District. Based on the results of measurements that have beencarried out in Bulutui Village, West Likupang District, it was found that the value of the dissolvedoxygen content at the mangrove location was in the range of 0.36 – 1.98 ppm, with an average of0.98 ppm, the pH value ranged from 6.16 – 6.89 with an average value of 6.04. In coastal locations,the dissolved oxygen content ranges from 1.26 to 2.87 ppm, with an average of 2.09 ppm, the pHvalue ranges from 6.78 to 8.90, with an average value of 8.34. The statistical t test showed that therewas a difference between the dissolved oxygen values in the sedimentary water in the mangrovesand the coast, as well as the acidity (pH). Keywords: sediment; Inset Water, Dissolved Oxygen, pH Acidity ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Bulutui Kecamatan Likupang Barat, berkaitan denganpermasalahan yang dikemukakan bagaimanakah kelarutan Oksigen Terlarut (DO) dan pH air sisipansedimen pada lokasi mangrove, dan di Pesisir pantai, selanjutnya penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui bagaimana kelarutan oksigen (DO), dan keasaman (pH) air sisipan sedimen padaekosistem mangrove dan di pesisir di Desa Bulutui Kecamatan Likupang Barat. Berdasarkan hasilpengukuran yang telah dilakukan di Desa Bulutui Kecamatan Likupang Barat ditemukan nilai darikandungan oksigen terlarut pada lokasi mangrove adalah berkisar 0,36 – 1,98 ppm, dengan rataratanya 0,98 ppm, nilai pH berkisar 6,16 – 6,89 dengan nilai rata rata 6,04. Pada Lokasi pesisirdengan kandungan oksigen terlarut berkisar 1,26 – 2,87 ppm, dengan rata rata 2,09 ppm nilai pHberkisar 6,78 – 8,90, dengan nilai rata – rata 8,34. Abstract

At the study site found sandy, muddy, sand mixed with dead coral, broken coral and rock substrates. Overall, the dominant substrate is sand mixed with silt. The surface temperature of the waters at the study site at the time of sampling based on environmental parameter measurements was 33°C, which means that the temperature at the research location is considered ideal. The salinity value at the time of sampling in Kalasey waters was 30‰. Based on the results of measuring the pH using a PH meter, the value obtained was 7. There were 4 species of green algae at the study site, almost all types of green algae had a dominant density such as Acetabularia acetabulum and some had relatively less density such as Halimeda opuntia. The diversity of Hʹ index values indicates Moderate diversity and moderate community conditions, there are several species that dominate these waters such as Acetabularia acetabulum whose number is more than the other species.Keywords: Diversity Of Green Algae, Kalasey Beach ABSTRAKDi lokasi penelitian ditemukan substrat berpasir, berlumpur, pasir bercampur dengan karang mati, patahan karang serta batuan. Secara keseluruhan substrat yang mendominasi yaitu pasir bercampur lumpur. Suhu permukaan perairan di lokasi penelitian pada saat pengambilan sampel berdasarkan pengukuran parameter lingkungan adalah 33°C yang berarti bahwa suhu di lokasi penelitian tersebut tergolong ideal. Nilai salinitas pada saat pengambilan sampel di perairan kalasey yaitu 30‰. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran PH dengan menggunakan alat pengukur PH nilai yang diperoleh adalah 7. Terdapat 4 spesies alga hijau di lokasi penelitian tersebut, hampir semua jenis alga hijau memiliki jumlah kepadatan yang dominan seperti Acetabularia acetabulum dan ada juga memiliki jumlah kepadatan yang relatif kurang seperti Halimeda opuntia. Abstract

Brown Algae Padina sp are marine biota that have secondary metabolites that are useful in the pharmaceutical field, especially raw materials for anti-cancer drugs. Bioactive compounds suspected of having anti-cancer activity were tested for activity by means of a toxicity test. Brine Shrimp Lethality Test Method. The purpose of this study was to test the anticancer activity of the crude extracts of Padina sp against Artemia salina L shrimp larvae using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test method. Algae samples were taken in the waters of Makupa Village. The activity test was carried out at the Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology and Pharmacy, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Unsrat. The test concentrations used of 10, 50, 100, 250 and 500 ppm, by first making 1000 ppm mother liquor. Data analysis used probit analysis to determine the toxicity value of LC50.The results obtained showed that the increase in concentration was followed by an increase in the number of mortality of the test animals where Padina sp 65%. The results of probit analysis obtained LC50 Padina sp 12.45 mg/l. Based on these data, bioactive compounds from Padina are more toxic,so it can be concluded that the content of bioactive compounds from Padina sp has the potential to be developed as raw materials for anticancer drugs.Keywords: Anticancer, Padina, Lethtality Test ABSTRAKAlga Coklat Padina sp merupakan biota laut yang memiliki metabolit sekunder yang bermanfaat dalam bidang farmasi terutama bahan baku obat anti kanker. Senyawa bioaktif yang diduga memiliki aktivitas anti kanker terlebih dahulu dilakukan pengujian aktivitas dengan cara uji toksisitas. Metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu uji aktivitas antikanker dari ekstrak Padina sp terhadap larva udang Artemia salina L dengan menggunakan metode Metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. Sampel alga di ambil di Perairan Desa Makupa. Uji aktivitas dilakukan di Laboratorium Bioteknologi dan Farmasetika Laut Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan Unsrat. Konsentrasi uji menggunakan 10, 50, 100, 250 dan 500, ppm, dengan terlebih dahulu membuat larutan induk 1000 ppm. Analisis data menggunakan analisis probit untuk menentukan nilai toksisitas LC50. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan bahwa kenaikan konsentrasi diikuti dengan kenaikan jumlah mortalitas hewan uji dimana Padina sp 65%. Hasil analisis probit diperoleh nilai Lethal consentrasi adalah 12.45 mg/l. Berdasarkan data tersebut senyawa bioaktif dari Padina lebih toksik dibandingkan dengan Halimeda sp, sehingga dapat disimpulkan kandungan senyawa bioaktif dari Padina sp berpotensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi bahan baku obat antikanker.
