This research is about an analysis of suggestive words that is used in Derren Brown and Romy Rafael’s hypnosis. This study answers the problems related to the use of suggestive words in hypnosis. These problems are about the type of suggestive words used in hypnosis, the steps to use the suggestive words, the intended meaning of the suggestive words and the reason to use the suggestive words. This research applied descriptive qualitative method. Derren Brown and Romy Rafael used the suggestive words in the form of suggestion to imagine and suggestion to obey. The illocutionary acts proposed by Daniel Vanderveken is used as the main approach in determining the illocutionary acts, beside that Searle’s approach of Speech acts is applied as the supporting theory. The result of the analysis is the suggestive words used by Derren Brown and Romy Rafael were in the form series of words. The series of words presented by Derren Brown and Romy Rafael as a hypnotist can be viewed from different angles depending on the mode of delivery used to change the context. By giving suggestion through a series of words, Derren Brown and Romy Rafael can make people do things that they consider unreasonable as driven by the subconscious mind.

This study was conducted in order to find out how to improve students’ skills in retelling at kindergarten students of JAC School Surabaya. It described the implementation of Using Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) in teaching learning process and reported students’ retelling story ability. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is conducted to solve the students’ during story telling time and students’ ability in retelling story. The study uses Burns theory. This Classroom Action Research has four steps in one cycle. Those are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The writer used a descriptive qualitative design to gain the information concerning process of TPRS method. There are three steps of TPRS teaching method. Those are Established the Meaning, Tell a class story and Read. There was an activity called circling in tell a class story step According to the data, the students made an improvement of retelling story use their own language from the first to the second cycle. The average of students score in retelling story rubric of the first cycle was 2 as described as fair category. While the second cycle average of retelling story rubric was 4 and categorized as excellent. The data was the result of direct observation. The analysis was done by describing the implementation of using TPRS in learning process in the classroom.

Psycholinguistics has provided numerous theories that explain how a person acquires a language, produces and perceives both spoken and written language. The theories have been used in the field of language teaching. Some experts use them as the basic theories in developing language teaching methods. It is known as psycholinguistics approach. Psycholinguistic approach views learning as a cognitive individual process happening within the individual and then moves to the social dimension. As an approach, there are some methods which were developed based on psycholinguistics theories such as natural method, total physical response method, and suggestopedia method. These methods apply psycholinguistic principles that how a person acquires his/her mother tongue or first language (First Language Acquisition), learns his/her second or third language (Second Language Learning), perceives a language (Language Perception), and produces language (Language Production). Language perception refers to listening and reading, while the language production refers to speaking and writing. Listening, reading, speaking and writing are called as the four of language skills. Specifically, psycholinguistics helps to understand the difficulties of these four skills both intrinsic difficulties and extrinsic difficulties. Psycholinguistics also helps to explain the errors students do in the language learning. Moreover psycholinguistics also defines some kinds of brain disorders that affect language learning performance such as agraphia and aphasia which must be treated properly. Psycholinguistics mainly helps teachers to consider the use of appropriate method to teach that four language skill.

The result of this study show that the English teacher used techniques SQ3R (survey or skimming, questioning, read, recall and review) and scanning in teaching. The implementation into students ability, the teacher used three-phase stages in reading they are: pre reading activity, whilst reading activity, and post reading activity. whereas  the strength and weaknesses of the techniques, the teacher used the same techniques in teaching reading to make easier for students. It is to make student more attracted because the teacher always give them motivation in guidance and the teacher also help the students to increase their ability in pronunciation. Moreover, the researcher found in weaknesses of this technique sometimes the students felt bored because they got the same techniques used by the teacher. Therefore, it is suggested the teacher  use these techniques in teaching reading comprehension, Finally the researcher suggested that the teacher should always give the motivation and the teacher combines the techniques so that the students can easily understand the lesson that the teacher teaches, it means that the teacher has made the students perform better in their learning activity.

This research aims to find out flouting of cooperative principles maxim which are employed by the characters and to find out the speaker’s meaning in Little Women novel by Louisa May Alcott. There are two objectives of the research that must be answered; (1) to describe the flouting of cooperative principles in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott; (2) to find of the possible reason for flouting the maxims in the Little Women novel by Louisa May Alcott. Descriptive qualitative is applied as the method of the research. Discourse Analysis proposed by H.P Grice is used as the main approach and Flouting Cooperative Principles Levinson is applied as the supporting theory. The results of the analysis it can be concluded that the fact of flouting of maxim is the important point in linguistics and pragmatics. English learner should improve themselves by understanding flouting of maxims. We can find the flouting maxim of relation in script movie or the other object like short story, script drama and novel.
