Abstract

This study aims to describe the linguistic patterns of Generation Z within the academic environment of Tadulako University. The term "linguistic patterns" refers to habitual language usage employed in daily interactions, encompassing both academic and non-academic domains. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative method with a sociolinguistic approach. The data source consists of students categorized as Generation Z—those born between 1997 and 2012—who are currently active members of the academic community at Tadulako University. Data were collected through audio recordings, participatory observation, and non-participatory listening techniques. The data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman’s (2014) interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal three dominant linguistic patterns among Generation Z in the university setting: code-mixing (46.67%), interference (40%), and code-switching (13.33%). Code-mixing frequently occurs through the insertion of regional and foreign language elements (particularly English) into Indonesian, both in face-to-face interactions and on social media platforms. Interference is observed at the morphological level, such as the inappropriate use of affixation not conforming to standard Indonesian grammar, and at the syntactic level, where sentence structures are influenced by the speakers’ first language. Meanwhile, code-switching manifests in interlingual transitions within informal contexts, functioning as a communicative strategy to align with the interlocutor or to express group identity and solidarity. These findings indicate that the linguistic behavior of Generation Z at Tadulako University is shaped by a complex interplay of cultural background, social environment, and the influence of evolving communication technologies.

Abstract

The skill that is currently still difficult for students to master in Indonesian language learning is writing skills. This research aims to describe the implementation of the experiential learning model in improving the writing ability of negotiation texts for grade X students of SMAN 2 Setu, Bekasi Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The sampling technique in this study is purposive sampling. The sample used is class X 1 as the experimental group and class X 7 as the control group. Data collection techniques in this study consist of interviews, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The instrument used is one essay question. The learning activities in the experimental class use the experiential learning model. Based on the results of hypothesis analysis, the significance value < 0.001 < 0.05 shows a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. This means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Furthermore, the experimental class achieved a higher mean score, namely 79.85 compared to the control class which only scored 57.35. The improvement observed in this study can be seen from the ability of the experimental class students to write negotiation texts after applying the experiential learning model. The experimental class students were able to write negotiation texts by paying attention to the relevance of content; the use of capital letters, spelling, and punctuation; the characteristics of negotiation texts; the structure of negotiation texts; as well as considering the linguistic elements of negotiation texts compared to the control class.

Abstract

Learning supervision plays an important role in improving teacher performance during the learning process, but there are still few studies that discuss in depth the relationship between a serious and disciplined teacher teaching style and the results of quantitative learning observations. This study aims to determine the implementation of learning by a teacher who is known to have a firm teaching character, through a supervision instrument consisting of 46 indicators. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through direct observation carried out at MTs Negeri 2 Probolinggo. The results of the observation showed that the teacher implemented 42 of the 46 learning indicators with an achievement percentage of 91.30% which is included in the very good category. This finding shows that a serious teaching style does not always have a negative impact on collaborative learning, as long as learning strategies and approaches are implemented professionally and systematically. This study contributes to the practice of educational supervision by emphasizing the importance of data-based evaluation to support teacher training fairly and objectively.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' skills in writing news texts through the application of the study tour technique in Class VII B of SMP Plus Al-Falah Al-Makky Gondanglegi, Malang. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The study tour technique was implemented by inviting students to directly observe various activities within the school and Islamic boarding school environment, such as flag ceremonies, sanitation programs, and daily student routines. The observations served as the basis for writing news texts in accordance with proper structure and language conventions. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and assessed based on five aspects: originality of ideas, engaging headlines, news text structure, language usage, and paragraph coherence. The results showed a significant improvement in students' writing abilities. In the pre-cycle stage, the average student score was 58.68, with only 3 students (7.89%) meeting the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM). After the first cycle, the average score increased to 67.5 with 15 students (39.47%) achieving KKM. In the second cycle, the average rose to 79.16 with 25 students (65.79%) achieving KKM. These findings indicate that the study tour technique is effective in enhancing students' news writing skills in a contextual and meaningful way.
