This is a qualitative research with a social phenomelogy paradigm and was conducted in Yellu Village, South Misool District, Raja Ampat Islands. The number of children dropping out in Yellu Vilage was influenced by two factors. Internal factor includes lack of motivation from them in order to improve education. Some of external factors are lack of parental supporting, associating with their peers who are not in school, children who easily earn some money without going to school due to the emergence of pearl companies that requires labor and abundant marine resources to get fish and seaweed, unsupportive educational facilities, lack of supporting from local government and the private sector in order to education development.

Textbook-based teaching commonly used in the ELT context in Indonesia results in a hard stimulation for students to speak more since the focus is reading skills. Activating peers' activities through English peer counselling in teaching speaking is one of the effective ways to promote students’ confidence and motivation in speaking. It is an activity conducted by peers that focuses on developing fundamental skills, especially speaking. This research aims to know the students' thoughts about English peer counselling toward their confidence and motivation in speaking. This research is qualitative research with a case study design. The researcher used a questionnaire as an instrument to collect the data. The questionnaire was given to 115 students of the English Education Program who joined the activity. The result shows that the first indicator reached 58,1%, which belongs to the neutral category. In comparison, the second indicator reached 91,4%. The final score for indicator one and indicator two was 79,8%. It indicates that students positively perceive English peer counselling to engage their speaking confidence and motivation. The activity encourages students to be more active in small conversations and discussions. They have better confidence in talking to their peers, which also gains their motivation. Similar research about English peer counselling for different skills, e.g. reading, writing, and listening, is highly possible to conduct.

The purpose of this study is to measure the links between compensation and work disciplines towards the teachers’ performance. Underlying the concept of Human Resources Management (HRM) education, this study investigates the effect of the two aforementioned variables on the teacher’s pedagogical approach, classroom activities, and teaching strategies using technology. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach, specifically a multifactorial design. The sample of this current study was 53 people. The data was gathered through test and questionnaires. The data analysis used was a descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that simultaneously the compensation and work discipline variables had a positive and significant effect on the teachers’ performance, and partially compensation and work discipline had a positive and significant effect on the teachers’ performance. The multiple linear regression equation is Y = 20.789 + 0.299X1 + 0.271X2. Meanwhile, the results of the descriptive analysis show that the variables of compensation, work discipline, and teachers’ performance are in a good criteria.

This study aims to determine the results of the evaluation of the implementation of video at universities related to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach with the evaluation method of the Stufflebeam model, namely CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Data were collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and concluding. The results of the study concluded that the use of videos at universities during online learning activities was good. The shortcomings found were in the input aspect to improve the digital competence of lecturers in mastering the latest technology as a learning medium. The learning process must be improved again to stimulate students to be more active during discussions. Meanwhile, the product aspect related to learning outcomes also shows a decrease in student achievement and attitudes in motivating themselves to learn. The results of this study have implications for the understanding of lecturers and universities about the readiness of facilities and technology for online learning activities.

One hundred and thirty-four adolescents aged between 14-21 years old were selected as a sample for this research using accidental sampling. The students filled out two instruments: the School Engagement Measure (SEM) and Family Support, adapted and modified). Data were analyzed by using the simple linear regression analysis. This study shows that family support contributes significantly to school engagement among adolescents in Makassar during online learning. The contribution of family support to school engagement is 17.7% (R2= 0.177; Sig = 0.000), while the rest of 82.3% are affected by other variables.

The notion of MBKM allows students to choose their learning activities. It takes the willingness of lecturers to respond to this policy to succeed. In the development of the MBKM, there are pros and cons and cons in the community, so a clear legal umbrella is needed to accommodate the policy. This study uses an approach with data collection through library searches sourced from electronic journal articles. After getting a number of articles, the articles that meet the requirements with a data inclusion strategy are selected and then analyzed descriptively. From the selection process, 10 articles were taken as the data and analyzed using content analysis. The results of the study show that the independent campus policy is a government breakthrough in providing autonomy and independence to each university from complicated employees and also giving students the freedom to choose their own study program. In its development, this policy took the form of reaping the pros and cons in the community so that several legal umbrellas were made that could accommodate them, but in the author's view the legal umbrella is still very important because only ministerial regulations need to be made such as laws or higher regulations of government.

Limited access to land transportation due to the lack of adequate road infrastructure in isolated and remote areas contributes to the high dropout rates of students in such areas. Therefore, the government always promotes road infrastructure development in these isolated areas, increases economic growth, and provides development access in other sectors, including the education sector. Education is not just an obligation as the discourse echoed by the government, but it should be a right given by the state to its people. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of infrastructure development inequality in isolated areas and the education sector, especially in increasing the dropout rates. This study uses a systematic literature review to investigate five writings. The data was driven using the assistance of Ferreira Gignoux’s (2011) theory of inequality of opportunity. The findings show that the construction of road infrastructure in remote and isolated areas dramatically affects the distribution of education, including efforts to reduce the dropout rate of children. The forms of benefits obtained by building road infrastructure are easy to access for students to places of learning, easy access for teachers and educators to reach isolated areas, ease of procurement of school facilities and infrastructure, which has an impact on increasing the quality of education and finally can help the community's economy so that children can be financed so as not to drop out of school.

The purpose of this study is to compare how students taught with Learning Strategies for Improving Thinking Skills (SPPKB), and expository learning strategies to write short stories. Additionally, it identifies differences in students' short story writing abilities between those with a high level of writing motivation and those with a low level of writing motivation. Additionally, it establishes the relationship between learning strategies and motivation for writing short stories in online learning. Diponegoro High School is located in the Asahan Regency. This research was conducted at Diponegoro Senior High School in Asahan Regency, with tenth-grade students as the research population. This is a quantitative study conducted using quasi-experimental methods. A Randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design was used in the research. Instruments include treatment instruments such as syllabuses, lesson plans, questionnaires, and measurement instruments embedded in short story texts. The study's findings indicate a difference in the ability to write short stories between the treatment of learning strategies and motivation to write, and that this difference is mediated by an interaction.
