Abstract

Sirih merah (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang secara tradisional digunakan untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit seperti antiseptik, antidiabetes, antihipertensi, asam urat, batu ginjal dan kolesterol. Banyak hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kapang endofit terbukti mampu melakukan bioproduksi untuk menghasilkan senyawa kimia seperti tanaman inangnya. Kapang endofit yang diisolasi dari batang sirih merah  dengan kode B.Pc.1F difermentasi dalam media Potato Dextro Broth (PDB) selama 12 hari dapat menghasilkan senyawa kimia yang mempunyai aktivitas sebagai penghambat enzim α-glukosidase.  Pengecekan pH menunjukkan bahwa isolat B.Pc.1F berpotensi menghasilkan senyawa kimia pada pH 4-6. Fraksinasi dengan kromatografi kolom, SiO2 [(i) n-heksan-etilasetat (20 : 1 ~ 1:1); (ii) kloroform-metanol [10:1 ~ 1:1] yang berdasarkan “Bioassay guided fractionation”  memberikan isolat tunggal yang mempunyai aktivitas sebagai penghambat enzim a-glukosidase dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 32.52 ppm dan pembanding control positif akarbosa sebesar 19,24 ppm. Kemudian diidentifikasi kandungan kimianya dengan metode kromatografi gas-spektrometer massa (GC-MS) dan hasil menunjukkan bahwa  isolat mengandung senyawa Shogaol (1), Asam palmitat (2), Vanicol (asam stearat) (3), dan eicosene (4).

Abstract

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a major factor causing skin damage that can trigger premature aging, inflammation, hyperpigmentation, and even skin cancer, thereby encouraging the development of natural-based sunscreens as safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives. The stem bark of kaledang (Artocarpus lanceifolius Roxb.) contains active compounds such as flavonoids and phenolics, which have potential as UV absorbers as well as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the in vitro sunscreen activity of kaledang stem bark fractions and to identify the concentration that produces the highest Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. The research employed an experimental design by testing chloroform, ethyl acetate, and methanol fractions at concentrations of 50, 100, and 200 ppm, respectively, using the SPF assay with UV-Vis spectrophotometry.

Abstract

Spondias dulcis plant is a tropical plant in the Anacardiaceae family. One of the plants from nature that has antioxidant properties. The aim of the research was to see the effect of variations in Spondias dulcis leaf extraction methods on the antioxidant activity of eliminating DPPH and FIC radicals. The % yield of various extracts from the maceration extraction method was 2.625%, UAE was 23.36% and digestion was 23.08%. screening of the phytochemical compound components of the ethanolic extract of Spondias dulcis leaves, the three variations of maceration extraction method, Ultrasonic (UAE) and digestion using thin layer chromatography using the eluent n-hexane: ethyl acetate (8:2) detected flavonoid and tannin content, while only the maceration extraction method was detected containing steroids, then the third alkaloid screening extraction variation was not detected. The conclusion is that the heating process in the digestive extraction method affects the antioxidant activity of the DPPH radical removal method of Spondias dulcis leaf extract, even though the percentage yield of extract from the digestive method is high (IC50 66,620 µg/mL) but the antioxidant activity is at a lower level and is classified as strong compared to extraction without maceration heating (IC50 38,979 µg/mL and UAE (IC50 29.838 µg/mL) are in the very strong category extraction and antioxidant activity of the FIC method in the ethanolic extract of Spondias dulcis leaves, the maceration extraction method IC50 342.72 µg/mL has a weak antioxidant activity category while the UAE extraction method (IC50 54.059 µg/mL) and digestion (IC50 83.093) are classified as strong. So the antioxidant activity method and DPPH reduction more effective than the Fe chelating method.
