Education has over the years moved from one stage of development to the other with its peculiarities and challenges. There have also been series of innovations, strategies and policies based on the changes in the society. Some of these changes require technological approach which usually poses challenges because the country, like other developing countries, is ill-prepared and unable to immediately address each educational challenge as it appears. The paradigm shift, general acceptance of the new move or model in global technological education, government policies and massive enrollment for e-education and e-learning by the learners, the attitudes of all concerned in the design and full implementation of ICT and e-learning policies in education should be sustained. Some of the students and even the teachers or facilitators may still prefer the print materials which may limit their knowledge, effectiveness and resourcefulness with time. As a result, there is an increase in demand for a more flexible and cost effective means of education through e-education, e-learning or open and distance learning. This has brought a paradigm shift on how people generally view the significance of e-learning for higher education in Philippines.

The study established that rural day secondary school science teachers face a number of challenges, including inadequate teaching and learning materials, students’ negative attitudes towards science, conflicts between students’ home background and school science, and absence of science teachers’ associations. These challenges could have a direct impact on the teaching and learning of science in rural day secondary schools. The opening of rural day secondary schools in Zimbabwe was a great challenge in terms of providing science education to all students because the newly opened secondary schools did not have conventional laboratories and equipment that would facilitate the teaching and learning of science. This study sought to find out the challenges faced by rural day secondary school science teachers in Gweru district of Zimbabwe and propose a way forward. Questionnaires, interviews and observations were used to collect data pertaining to the challenges that were faced by the teachers.

Liberal political ideology that promotes the democratization agenda and the implementation of human rights is seen as a normative goal of global political developments today. But liberalism does not actually escape from various critics. One radical criticism against liberalism derived from the communitarian camp that liberalism tends to privatize the concept of good life (religion, ideology) and put it in the private sphere. An important result or this is the lack of social solidarity. This paper tries to sharpen the criticism of the communitarian camp over liberalism with the knife of the Hegelian concept of holism. In liberal political theory, integralism or holism is criticized as the cause of totalitarian political systems. In this description will be shown that integralism or holism should not be contrary to the principles of individual rights. Holism or integralism suggests some fundamental criticisms of liberalism and proposes some solutions to overcome the problem of pathology of liberalism.

Although concerns for equity have become ever more central within mathematics education, there is still little consensus on how the term should be defined or how to effectively work towards equity in classroom learning. Equity initiatives that rely solely on arguments about achievement gaps can be dangerous, as they can perpetuate deficit notions of marginalized students and position dominant groups as the norm to which others should aspire. The project is analyzed using Marilyn Cochran-Smith’s six principles of pedagogy for teaching for social justice. In the study group, teachers were involved in designing research projects to honour their students’ cultural and community knowledge and to develop mathematics teaching with a social justice focus. We offer three examples of teaching mathematics for social justice in diverse classrooms, and consider the broader implications of inquiry projects such as these. While we and the teachers came together as a group because of a shared interest in using a social justice approach to mathematics teaching. We found that the study group process ended up emphasizing some aspects of teaching for social justice – in particular, bringing social justice issues explicitly into the curriculum, building on student interests and experiences, and working with families and community.

This paper aims to discuss some things about the people of Aceh, which is associated with violence (violence). The study of violence in Aceh is already a lot to do, especially with the experience of joining the Republic of Indonesia Aceh. This study attempted to examine the meaning of violence and its relationship to faith or Din al-Islam. After that, it will be seen in the form of violence in Aceh society. Is the violence in Aceh due to religious factors or due to other things like ideology? Or, violence in Aceh is one result of the application of social science theories which assume that religion should not be involved in the lives of everyday people. In addition, this study also investigated the claims of the wanted link between Islam and violence, both conceptually and from the aspect of socio-historical and socio-anthropological. One of the concepts that need to be considered are the glue of the Acehnese are Muslims. Adhesive system Acehnese cosmology is customary. Adhesives Acehnese ideology is Islam. At this level the concept of the Acehnese identity needs to be prioritized. To get out of the chaos of memory on a reformulation of violence needs to be done to the concept of identity-distinctive Acehnese, based on cosmological system Acehnese essentials.

Culture and education are interconnected. If culture is to be preserved, transformed and transferred from one generation to the next, education in its broader sense is the key process of doing so. Each society or community group has its own culture as its distinctive characteristics. This culture contains values by which members of the society abide. Since the establishment of Banjar Sultanate in 1526, the Banjarese have developed spiritual culture which is reflected in material forms such as in houses shapes, process of cultivating rice in the paddy field, and other daily traditions. Besides, spiritual culture is also manifested in educational institution as well as in the attitude of its educators. As of today, these cultural values are still relevant to be developed, because they may become foundation of social behavior, especially for younger generation who are prone to influences of secularism, hedonism, and pragmatism.

During the past decades, processes of (post)modernization have raised the importance of quality-of-life issues and related policies, resulting in a higher salience of intimate citizenship issues on the political agenda. The Catholic Church as an institution especially has been articulating strong positions on issues considered to be about personal and family morality, actively opposing liberalization of abortion or even contraception, assisted reproduction for non-married couples, and the extension of marriage rights to homosexual people. This paper will investigate to what extent the framing of a number of intimate citizenship issues (reproductive rights, abortion, same-sex marriage and divorce) by the Catholic Church resonates with the framing of these issues in Catholic countries that are members or candidate to the European Union, and whether the presence or absence of resonance is linked to the degree of religiosity of the population, the support for Catholic religious values or to the institutional strength of the Catholic Church. The analysis will show to what extent we find ‘Catholic’ frames in the various countries and how that is connected to the level of religiosity, the support for Catholic religious values or the institutional strength of the Catholic Church.
