Abstract

Matan hadith understanding of the women position in the family, in variety of classical fiqh books, especially the discussion about morals and the rights and obligations of one's wife in the family, tend to give a low position for women compared to the husband position. The wife is represented as the super, perfect and completely able to be submissive and obedient in total, so it is quite narrow opportunities for her to get a fair life as the position of her husband's life. This study discuss the meaning and interpretation by using a contextual approach and rational. This study aims to provide a more comprehensive directive in the meaning of the text of the hadith and dismissed accusations that lead to less humane view of the treatment of women in the household as well as being a comparison of thought in understanding the hadith of the prophet.

Abstract

Parental religious education is the most important thing in educating and raising children. The religious education that parents have will influence the norms and behavior of children to be educated and mature individuals. But now, even though parents understand the religious values, it is still difficult to implement these values in the family, especially in controlling the interaction of their children. This study investigated the religious value of parents in raising their children and the solution they offer to solve the problem related to sexual harassment issues faced by the children. This study used interviews, documentation, and observation, conducted in three locations namely in Bireuen district with four families, in North Aceh with three families, in Pidie Jaya with seven families, a total of all 14 families. The survey results in Bireuen showed even though their children suffered sexual harassment and rape but the parents were still able to hold their emotions because they had a strong religious education. They were happy to have children because it was assumed that they came from intact families. There is a stigma of society that their children are victims of sexual violation, whereas their parents have a good religious education. Complete intact families that still have both parents, can bring happiness, comfort, protect, and communicate well with their children. Otherwise, incomplete families whose children suffered sexual abuse victims are difficult to solve the problems being faced, especially to cheer up their children.

Abstract

This thesis deals with two things, the arena of cultural production and symbolic violence in a novel titled Banât al-Riyâdh (BR). The novel is chosen because it exposes various women’s problems in Saudi Arabia such as their struggle and demand for modernity which are considered as against tradition, strict social convention and sexual ethics in the kingdom. The novel, which represents a cultural battle, deserves to be examined since it exerts a tremendous effect on symbolic violence. The writer analyzes it by applying Pierre Bourdieu’s perspective. The research is aimed at looking at the tension between modernity and tradition which eventually led to the creation of the novel. It is based on two concepts proposed by Pierre Bourdieu, Habitués and arena, which are bolstered by concepts of symbolic power, strategy, and struggle for achieving the symbolic and material power through economic, cultural, and symbolic capitals. For Bourdieu, all human acts occur in the social sphere that suggests an arena of resources struggle. Individuals, institutions, and other agents attempt to distinguish themselves from the other with the intention of obtaining useful and valuable capitals in the arena. Concerning symbolic power, the writer thinks that the novel shows the symbolic violence in numerous forms, like state, patriarchy, and family violence.

The method used in this research is classroom action research. The results showed that the implementation of case study method strategy can improve learning outcomes in the course of Evaluation of Learning. This is evident from the increasing percentage of students in the eight aspects observed from both cycles carried out in the action of this study. This fact is supported by the result of t test statistic test where obtained tct = 7,17 while ttable price = 1,682 so it can be interpreted that applying of case study method strategy can improve learning result of learning course lesson.

Abstract

This research explores the relations between the so-called normative Islam-as laid down in the canonical texts of the Qur’ān and hadīth-and the ways in which these normative ideas, perceptions and values are expressed in rituals in the society concerned. It pays particular attention to the ways in which the latter forms of ritual expression entail a culturally specific adaptation and valorization of the trans-cultural representations laid down in these Islamic text corpora and to the ways in which-according to local understanding and exegesis-these ritual actions generate a reproduction of the social relationships and their moral foundation in the society concerned. In-depth discussions had been conducted with the participants about the symbols, meanings and values, which they attach to these actions as to their effectiveness in achieving particular social, religious, political and moral aims besides a systematic survey of relevant published sources has complemented this field research. The meticulous examination of the village ritual calendar shows that three different perspectives on this social and moral order prevail: a traditional adat perspective, the historical Islamic perspective, and the modernist Islamic perspective. This attributes to Aneuk Jamee a complex dynamic socio-religious identity within the field of Indonesian cultures.

Abstract

This article attempted to investigate the significance of the Islamic and Asian Civilization Course (TITAS) according to the point of view of non-Muslim students to form a harmonious view towards Islam besides forming and cultivating racial unity in Malaysia. This study was also conducted with expectations that TITAS will be the impetus to create moral awareness amongst non-Muslim students towards Islam and Muslims other than giving ideas that multiracial is assimilable through TITAS. This matter was aligned with the objective of the Islamic Civilization study for non-Muslim students and the goals of TITAS introduced in 1983. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach involving 203 non-Muslim students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris as the study sample. The mean was 3.81 which depicts a high-level achievement of the goals and objectives of TITAS. This showed that TITAS was able and managed to predispose moral awareness amongst non-Muslim students towards Islam and Muslims. It is also proposed that TITAS continues to be maintained as the mainstream syllabus beyond the pre-university level.
