Abstract

Natural and Social Science Education (IPAS) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah remains predominantly focused on cognitive and scientific aspects, while the integration of Islamic values, particularly verses of the Al-Qur’an has not yet been implemented in a deep and contextual manner. This study aimed to develop IPAS teaching materials that integrate science and the Al-Qur’an based on Ahmad Al-Jabiri’s epistemology, which encompasses the bayani, burhani, and irfani phases. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with teachers and fifth-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah as the subjects. Data were collected through teacher and student response questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and needs analysis, and were then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The findings show that the developed IPAS teaching materials successfully integrate scientific concepts with Al-Qur’anic verses in a systematic and meaningful way that aligns with the characteristics of elementary-level learners. The Ahmad Al-Jabiri–based IPAS teaching materials were declared suitable for use as an integrative learning alternative that brings together rationality, empirical experience, and revelatory values in basic education. Teacher and student responses were positive, indicating that the materials are easy to understand, engaging, and helpful in enabling students to master scientific concepts while simultaneously enhancing their spiritual understanding.

Abstract

Although the social environment has received relatively limited empirical attention in studies on student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), it plays an important role in shaping academic success and learning behavior. This study aims to examine the effect of the social environment on students’ learning outcomes in IRE at SMPN 1 Tembelang. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed, involving all students as participants through saturated sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, direct observations, documentation, and students’ report card results. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings indicate that the social environment has a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ IRE learning outcomes, as shown by a significance value of 0.006, which is lower than the 0.05 significance level. These findings support the perspectives of social learning theory and ecological development theory, which emphasize the role of social interaction in facilitating the learning process. This study concludes that a supportive and conducive social environment plays an essential role in improving students’ learning achievement in IRE. The findings contribute to Islamic education literature by providing empirical evidence on the importance of social-environmental factors in student learning outcomes and imply that schools should strengthen social support systems to enhance students’ academic performance.

Abstract

This study explores Islamic branding as a strategic approach to achieving competitive advantage in Islamic educational institutions in the contemporary global and digital era. Increasing competition among educational providers has encouraged institutions to develop distinctive identities that emphasize not only academic excellence but also ethical and spiritual values. This study aims to analyze how Islamic values are integrated into marketing frameworks, leadership practices, stakeholder engagement, and digital transformation to strengthen institutional branding. A qualitative approach with a conceptual and literature-based design was employed, focusing on recent scholarly works published between 2024 and 2025. Data were collected through a systematic literature review and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Islamic branding, when integrated with the 7P marketing mix, enhances institutional credibility, public trust, and stakeholder satisfaction. Leadership, particularly religious leadership represented by kyai, plays a central role in shaping institutional legitimacy and brand identity. Furthermore, digital transformation and artificial intelligence provide new opportunities for branding innovation, although ethical and infrastructural challenges remain significant. The study concludes that Islamic branding must move beyond symbolic representation and be deeply embedded in governance, pedagogy, and institutional culture to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. This study contributes to the theoretical development of Islamic educational management and offers practical recommendations for policymakers and educational leaders in strengthening value-based institutional branding.

Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Modern ZIIS (Zamzam Integrated Islamic School) Cilongok, Banyumas, Central Java, is an integrated Islamic educational institution that promotes Islamic and national values through the motto A Great Place to Learn. This study aims to analyze parents’ school choice patterns in relation to cultural and social capital, the mechanisms for forming students’ Islamic habitus through an integrated curriculum and co-curricular programs, and the dynamics of social reproduction within the ZIIS environment. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, strengthened by structured questionnaire data from four parents of Grade XI students during the 2024–2026 period. The results showed three main findings. First, parents’ school choice patterns were economically heterogeneous, including families with monthly incomes below IDR 1,000,000 to above IDR 6,000,000, but homogeneous in value orientation because all parents prioritized the formation of Islamic character, independence, and a protected social environment. Second, ZIIS consistently formed students’ Islamic habitus through a structured yaumiyah schedule, a tahfidz Al-Qur’an program, gradual entrepreneurship, and international language programs integrated into the official curriculum. Third, unlike urban elite Islamic boarding schools, ZIIS demonstrated relatively inclusive dynamics of social reproduction, marked by open access across economic classes, although three of the four parents recommended adding scholarship programs to make accessibility more equitable. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that ZIIS functions as a space for forming a modern Islamic habitus that integrates piety, independence, and global competitiveness with broader social reach than urban elite Islamic boarding schools. The implications of this study expand understanding of the role of private Islamic educational institutions in shaping students’ character while opening access to education across social classes.

Abstract

The limited use of affective level-based self-assessment in assessing students’ social attitudes indicates the need for a more reflective, participatory, and relevant evaluation approach for developing the character of prospective educators. This study aims to analyze the social attitudes of fourth-semester PGMI students through self-assessment focused on the aspects of cooperation, empathy, tolerance, communication, mutual cooperation, and respect. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with purposive sampling involving 32 fourth-semester PGMI students. Data were collected through an affective level-based self-assessment questionnaire and then analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis based on the mean score for each indicator. The results showed that students’ social attitudes were in the high category across all aspects analyzed. The tolerance aspect obtained the highest percentage of 96.9%, whereas the aspects of cooperation, mutual cooperation, and respect each reached 90.6%. The aspects of empathy and communication skills were at 87.5%. These findings indicate that affective level-based self-assessment functions not only as an evaluation tool but also as a means of reflection that helps students understand and develop social attitudes gradually through the affective levels of receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and characterizing. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that affective level-based self-assessment can be used as a reflective and participatory evaluation approach in measuring the social attitudes of PGMI students. The implications of this study provide a contribution to the development of affective evaluation in higher education and serve as a basis for designing a more innovative attitude assessment model that is responsive to the needs of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Although public relations management has become an important part of educational institution management, studies on its role in improving the image and achievements of madrasahs still need to be strengthened through specific institutional contexts. This study aims to describe the role of public relations management in improving the image and achievements of the madrasah, the implementation of public relations strategies, and its supporting and inhibiting factors at MI Majidul Wathani NW Sekilat. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and were then analyzed qualitatively by strengthening data validity through source, technique, and time triangulation. The results show that public relations plays an important role in building and maintaining a positive image of the madrasah, establishing strategic partnerships, increasing public trust, and supporting the promotion and branding of the madrasah through communication media. However, limitations in organization, infrastructure, and human resources pose challenges in implementing public relations management. The support of the madrasah principal and the participation of teachers and the community are the main supporting factors for the success of public relations management at MI Majidul Wathani NW Sekilat. The conclusion of this study affirms that well-directed public relations management can strengthen institutional image and support the improvement of madrasah achievements. These findings imply the importance of strengthening communication strategies, resource management, and sustainable collaboration between the madrasah and the community.

Abstract

Student data governance is an essential component of school administration; however, studies specifically examining student data governance in kindergarten institutions from an office administration perspective remain limited. This study aims to describe and analyze student data governance based on office administration at TK DYAS Montessori School. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the kindergarten principal, administrative staff, classroom teachers, and parents as supporting informants. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, while trustworthiness was strengthened through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings show that student data management includes data collection, recording, storage, updating, security, and utilization for administrative services, school reporting, communication with parents, and fulfillment of institutional documents. The main obstacles include incomplete documents, non-periodic data updating, archive classification that is not yet fully systematic, suboptimal integration of manual and digital archives, and the absence of detailed standard operating procedures. The school has responded to these obstacles through document completion, archive organization, simple digital recapitulation, internal coordination, and the formulation of administrative procedures. This study concludes that office administration plays a strategic role in improving the accuracy, accessibility, security, and accountability of student data in early childhood education institutions. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on school administration and student data governance in kindergarten contexts. Practically, it provides implications for strengthening administrative procedures, archive management, and data-based school services in early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

Moral development in non-formal Islamic education is essential for strengthening students’ Qur’anic literacy, manners, worship discipline, and moral-spiritual awareness. This study aims to analyze moral development strategies for students at Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ) Anwarul Masalik Keruak. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving the head of the TPQ and three ustaz/ustazah who were actively engaged in Qur’anic learning from August to September 2022. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while trustworthiness was strengthened through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings show that moral development was implemented through three main strategies: habituating noble character (akhlak al-karimah) toward puberty, training discipline and devotion in worship, and cultivating muraqabah awareness. These strategies were carried out through greeting routines, polite speech, cleanliness practices, Qur’anic recitation, daily prayers, moral advice, exemplary stories, and reinforcement of the belief that every action is under Allah’s supervision. The main constraints included the influence of the environment outside the TPQ, differences in students’ backgrounds, and the absence of a measurable moral development guide. This study concludes that moral development in TPQ needs to be managed consistently, collaboratively, and evaluatively so that moral-spiritual values are not limited to verbal advice but become embedded in students’ daily habits. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on moral education in non-formal Islamic learning institutions, while practically, it offers implications for strengthening structured, measurable, and habituation-based moral development programs in TPQ.

Abstract

Classroom discipline strategies are essential not only for correcting student behavior but also for supporting learning motivation in a proportional and educational manner. This study aims to analyze the effect of punishment on the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Selebung Ketangga in the 2020/2021 academic year. This study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The sample consisted of fifth-grade students selected through total sampling in the class under study. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation, and documentation and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS 22. The results indicate that punishment has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation, as shown by a regression coefficient of 2.974 and a significance value of 0.006 (< 0.05). The model output also shows an R Square value of 1.000, indicating a very high predictive level in the available data and therefore requiring careful interpretation in the context of educational behavioral research. These findings suggest that educational, proportional, and nonphysical punishment accompanied by pedagogical explanation can function as behavioral feedback that supports students’ learning engagement. This study concludes that constructive classroom discipline plays an important role in maintaining elementary school students’ learning motivation when implemented ethically and proportionally. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature on classroom management and learning motivation, while practically, it highlights the importance of discipline strategies that respect students’ psychological safety and promote positive learning behavior.
