Abstract

Natural and Social Science Education (IPAS) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah remains predominantly focused on cognitive and scientific aspects, while the integration of Islamic values, particularly verses of the Al-Qur’an has not yet been implemented in a deep and contextual manner. This study aimed to develop IPAS teaching materials that integrate science and the Al-Qur’an based on Ahmad Al-Jabiri’s epistemology, which encompasses the bayani, burhani, and irfani phases. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with teachers and fifth-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah as the subjects. Data were collected through teacher and student response questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and needs analysis, and were then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The findings show that the developed IPAS teaching materials successfully integrate scientific concepts with Al-Qur’anic verses in a systematic and meaningful way that aligns with the characteristics of elementary-level learners. The Ahmad Al-Jabiri–based IPAS teaching materials were declared suitable for use as an integrative learning alternative that brings together rationality, empirical experience, and revelatory values in basic education. Teacher and student responses were positive, indicating that the materials are easy to understand, engaging, and helpful in enabling students to master scientific concepts while simultaneously enhancing their spiritual understanding.

Abstract

Although the social environment has received relatively limited empirical attention in studies on student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), it plays an important role in shaping academic success and learning behavior. This study aims to examine the effect of the social environment on students’ learning outcomes in IRE at SMPN 1 Tembelang. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed, involving all students as participants through saturated sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, direct observations, documentation, and students’ report card results. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings indicate that the social environment has a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ IRE learning outcomes, as shown by a significance value of 0.006, which is lower than the 0.05 significance level. These findings support the perspectives of social learning theory and ecological development theory, which emphasize the role of social interaction in facilitating the learning process. This study concludes that a supportive and conducive social environment plays an essential role in improving students’ learning achievement in IRE. The findings contribute to Islamic education literature by providing empirical evidence on the importance of social-environmental factors in student learning outcomes and imply that schools should strengthen social support systems to enhance students’ academic performance.

Abstract

This study explores Islamic branding as a strategic approach to achieving competitive advantage in Islamic educational institutions in the contemporary global and digital era. Increasing competition among educational providers has encouraged institutions to develop distinctive identities that emphasize not only academic excellence but also ethical and spiritual values. This study aims to analyze how Islamic values are integrated into marketing frameworks, leadership practices, stakeholder engagement, and digital transformation to strengthen institutional branding. A qualitative approach with a conceptual and literature-based design was employed, focusing on recent scholarly works published between 2024 and 2025. Data were collected through a systematic literature review and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Islamic branding, when integrated with the 7P marketing mix, enhances institutional credibility, public trust, and stakeholder satisfaction. Leadership, particularly religious leadership represented by kyai, plays a central role in shaping institutional legitimacy and brand identity. Furthermore, digital transformation and artificial intelligence provide new opportunities for branding innovation, although ethical and infrastructural challenges remain significant. The study concludes that Islamic branding must move beyond symbolic representation and be deeply embedded in governance, pedagogy, and institutional culture to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. This study contributes to the theoretical development of Islamic educational management and offers practical recommendations for policymakers and educational leaders in strengthening value-based institutional branding.
