Abstract

Mahasiswa pendidikan fisika di abad ke-21 ini dituntut untuk memiliki keterampilan seperti berpikir kreatif dan kritis, berkomunikasi, memecahkan masalah, berkolaborasi serta literasi ICT atau yang biasa disebut keterampilan abad ke-21. Keterampilan tersebut dapat dilatih dan dikembangkan melalui kegiatan Higher Order Thinking Real Laboratory (HOTRL) atau Higher Order Thinking Virtual Laboratory (HOTVL). Artikel ini akan menganalisis efek dari kedua jenis laboratorium tersebut atau Higher Order Thinking Real and Virtual Laboratory (HOTRVL) terhadap peningkatan keterampilan abad ke-21 pada keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan kritis serta keterampilan berkomunikasi pada konsep gaya, rangkaian listrik, rangkaian RLC dan Hukum Hooke. Pada HOTRVL dilakukan kegiatan laboratorium yang real menggunakan alat praktikum di laboratorium sedangkan untuk virtual laboratorium menggunakan aplikasi atau simulasi yang sesuai dengan konsep yang digunakan.

Abstract

Doppler effect is physical phenomena which the emitted frequency is a source of change at a time when accepted by the detector due to relative movement of the detector towards the source of the wave or vice versa. In this research, conducted an activity measurement against Doppler effect symptoms by utilizing sensors found in smartphones. In this experiment, all mechanical instrument used is a smartphone with the help of software frequency sound generator, physics toolbox, the camera as an instrument of data collectors and software Tracker as motion analyzer. Based on the results of the experiment retrieved the value of the error and standard deviation of each of the observed symptoms. Symptoms affect Doppler upon source moving closer and away when the silent observer error value of 0.04% and% with a standard deviation of 0.1185 0.018 and 1.005. Experiment effect Doppler upon the source and observer approaching stationary gives error value of 8.60% and standard deviation 13.501 and to experiment the effect upon the source and Doppler observers moving each other approaching the error value of 4.31% and standard deviation of 0.087. Overall this experiment generates error value 3.267% and standard deviation of 3.665. So it could be inferred that the experiments conducted classified accurately and precision in effect phenomenon Doppler represents. Based on the results of this experiment the researcher recommends to carry out practical effects with the help of sensors Doppler smartphone.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility level, students' scientific reasoning abilities, and students' responses to the use of quizizz-based interactive questions in measuring students' scientific reasoning skills. This research method uses the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). The results showed that quizizz-based interactive questions to measure scientific reasoning skills developed were declared very feasible by the validators at a percentage of 82.6%. The results of the percentage of students' scientific reasoning skills on conservation reasoning indicators are 25%, probabilistic reasoning 20.83%, proportional reasoning 8.33%, correlation reasoning 4.17%, variable reasoning 8.33%, and hypothesis-deductive reasoning 12.50 %. The question has positive response criteria as seen from the results of the assessment of students by 88% with very interesting interpretations. Thus, it can be concluded that quizizz-based interactive questions to measure scientific reasoning skills are very feasible to use and get a positive response from students.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to increase student mastery of concepts, mastery of science process skills increase student mastery of concepts and relationships of students with his science process skills as applied to problem based learning model instruction in Basic Physics courses. The method used was quasi-experimental. The instrument used consisted of tests mastery of concepts and observation sheet for observing the mastery of science process skills. Subjects were students of the second semester of Chemical Education study program 2012/2013 forces were attending basic physics consists of two classes of 80 students with a number of people. The sample was selected using sampling techniques saturated. The results show there is an increasing mastery of the concept of the N-gain of 0.33 with moderate interpretation, an average of 82.28 students process skills with excellent interpretation and the relationship between student mastery of concepts and skills of its scientific processes (rxy) at a very low 0,042 to interpretation so neglectful. It can be concluded that problem based learning model instruction can improve mastery of concepts and science process skills of students in Basic Physics courses.Keywords: Problem based instruction, mastery of concepts, science process skillsAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep mahasiswa, penguasaan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dan hubungan peningkatan penguasaan konsep mahasiswa dengan keterampilan proses sainsnya setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran problem based instruction pada mata kuliah Fisika Dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari tes penguasaan konsep dan lembar observasi untuk mengamati penguasaan keterampilan proses sains. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester II prodi Pendidikan Kimia angkatan 2012/2013 yang mengontrak mata kuliah Fisika Dasar, terdiri dari dua kelas dengan jumlah mahasiswa 80 orang. Sampel yang terpilih menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan penguasaan konsep dengan N-gain sebesar 0,33 dengan interpretasi sedang, ratarata keterampilan proses mahasiswa sebesar 82,28 dengan interpretasi baik sekali dan hubungan antara penguasaan konsep mahasiswa dan keterampilan proses sainsnya (rxy) sebesar 0,042 dengan interpretasi sangat rendah sehingga diabaikan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based instruction dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Fisika Dasar.Kata-kata kunci: Problem based instruction, penguasaan konsep, keterampilan proses sains

Abstract

AbstractRigid object equilibrium is a material that needs well rule and process aplication viewed from tranlation and rotation concept. This phenomenon related to material aplication was much found in daily life. This material instruction requires the development of Saintific Process Skills (SPS). Based on the observation result in MAN Cisewu, this material was considered difficult for the student. The teacher taught the material with mathematical formulas wihthout practicing the saintific process. One of the efforts to solve the problem by using model Context Based Learning (CBL). CBL connects content and contex. It helps the students to be more creative informing concept individually and improves the saintific process skills. Through one grup pretest-posttest design in pre experiment method, the research aims finding out the use of CBL model by using observation sheet and improving students’ saintific process skills measured by multiple choices. The result shows percentage of teacher activity 87,00% (good) and students 85,22% (good). The improvement of students’ saintific process skills showed 0,58% (medium) for N-gain means. The indicator of saintific process skills communicate of the lowest N-Gain (0,06) and the highest N-Gain (0,73) apperead on the indicator of interpretation. Hyphothetical test showed by Wilcoxon match pairs, it is found that Zcount (5,70) > Ztable (1,69). It can be concluded that Context Based Learning can improve saintific process skills of students in material rigid object equilibrium.Keywords: CBL, SPS, rigid object equilibrium AbstrakKeseimbangan benda tegar merupakan materi yang memerlukan penerapan aturan dan proses baik ditinjau dari konsep tranlasi maupun rotasi. Fenomena dan aplikasi yang berkaitan dengan materi ini banyak ditemukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari Pembelajaran materi ini menuntut pengembangan Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS). Berdasarkan hasil observasi di MAN Cisewu materi ini dianggap sulit bagi siswa. Guru mengajarkannya dengan cara perumusan matematis dan kurang melatihkan proses sains. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasinya dengan menerapkan model Context Based Learning (CBL). CBL menghubungkan konten dengan konteks, dapat membantu siswa kreatif dalam membentuk sebuah konsep secara mandiri dan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains. Melalui metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterlaksanaan model CBL yang diamati dengan menggunakan lembar observasi dan peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang diukur menggunakan soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase keterlaksanaan aktivitas guru 87,00% (baik) dan siswa 85,22% (baik). Peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa diperoleh rata-rata nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,58 (sedang). Indikator keterampilan proses sains mengkomunikasikan memperoleh N-Gain terendah (0,06) dan N-Gain tertinggi (0,73) pada indikator menafsirkan. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon match pairs diperoleh Zhitung (5,70) > Ztabel (1,69). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Context Based Learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi keseimbangan benda tegar.Kata-kata kunci: CBL, KPS, keseimbangan benda tegar

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of cooperative learning models using type Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) and the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills in momentum and impulses topic. We use pre-experiment design, with the one-group pretest-posttest. The population of this study was class X MIA YAS Bandung with the sample of class X MIA 2 amounted to 30 students selected by random technique. We use the observation sheet as the instrument to observe the implementation of teacher and student activities during the cooperative learning model type SFAE. The essay tests are used to measure the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills. The results of the study showed that the implementation of teacher activities was 81% and student activities by 77% in the good category. Increasing students' critical-thinking skills is the medium category with an average normalized gain value of 0.63. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test, it was obtained t-count (34.08) > t-table (2.052) which means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded that there was an increase in students' critical-thinking skills after applying the SFAE type cooperative learning model to the material of momentum and impulse. Thus, this learning model of type SFAE can be used to improve students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the learning problem-solving laboratory model and improvement of critical thinking skills of students on temperature and heat topic. The method used in this research was pre-experiment, with one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was class X SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Garut. The sample was selected by random sampling technique, with a sample of one class X-2, amounting to 30 people. The implementation of problem-solving laboratory model learning was observed by observers with observation sheets and improvement of students' critical thinking skills measured by essay tests. The results showed that the average implementation of problem-solving laboratory model learning for teacher activities was 84% and student activities at 80% were both categorized well. There was an increase in the critical thinking skills of students shown by the average of the normalized gain value of 0.64 include the medium category. Thus, the problem-solving laboratory model learning can be used as an alternative in improving students' critical thinking skills on the topic of temperature and heat.

Abstract

Mastering physics content is essential for physics teachers to carry out the learning process in the classroom. After mastering good physics content, teachers must also master the teaching competencies contained in pedagogical competencies. This study aims to demonstrate efforts to increase teachers' mastery of physics content and pedagogic competence. The pedagogic aspect refers to the teacher's ability to prepare practical instructions in a Cookbook Laboratory, Inquiry Laboratory, Problem-Solving Laboratory, and Higher Order Thinking Laboratory. The method used is in-house training based on lesson study. There are three stages of activities carried out, including Plan, Do, and See. Data were collected using observation sheets, interview guidelines, performance instruments, and tests. The study results show that the professional competence of teachers who are members of the Science Teacher Deliberation (MGMP) in one province in West Java has increased, especially concerning materials competencies practiced. In addition, the pedagogical competence of the teachers who are members of the Science MGMP has increased, especially concerning the mastery of organizing science practicums oriented to developing the 21st-century skills of students.

This research uses experimental method that combine the mechanical instruments and microphone smartphone sensor as measurement tool. The mechanical instruments used are a smartphone with the help of frequency sound generator software, Physics Toolbox, the camera as an instrument of data collectors, and Tracker as a motion analyzer software. Based on the results of the experiments, the author retrieved the value of the error and the standard deviation of each of the observed symptoms. The symptoms of Doppler effect upon source moving closer and moving away when the silent observer shows the error value of 0.04 % and 0.1185 % respectively with a standard deviation of 0.018 and 1.005. In addition, the experiment on Doppler effect as the source is staying still and as the observer approaching the source provides error value of 8.60 % and standard deviation of 13.501. As for the experiment on Doppler effect as the source and the observers are approaching each other displays the error value of 4.31 % and the standard deviation of 0.087. Overall, this experiment generates error value of 3.267 % and standard deviation of 3.665, inferring that the experiments conducted are accurate and precise in representing the Doppler effect phenomenon. Based on the results of this experiments, the researcher recommends to carry out practicum on Doppler effects with the help of smartphone sensors.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and various obstacles of laboratory activities in junior high schools. The study employed the descriptive quantitative method. The subjects of the study were science teachers in 41 junior high schools representing 4 areas of the Natural Sciences Teachers' Consultative Assembly (MGMP IPA) in Jawa Barat Province. The instrument employed was a questionnaire. The technical analysis of the data was conducted by calculating the average percentage of each answer choice of each statement. This research reveals that 1) the students’ motivation for conducting laboratory activities is high; 2) the implementation of laboratory activities is conducted separately by employing theoretical classroom learning; 3) the source of guidance for laboratory activities is a model of cookbook laboratory; and 4) some obstacles in laboratory activities include insufficient laboratory spaces, less standardized and insufficient number of most equipment, the availability of manuals for laboratory activities, insufficient instructions to use laboratory equipment, and teachers’ difficulties in designing, implementing, and evaluating laboratory activities. It is concluded that in general teachers and students are very enthusiastic about conducting laboratory activities in science learning, but they still have several constraints, especially in the available infrastructures.
