Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth deadly cancer that attack women worldwide. Regardless of age, cancer attack all age range, from children to elderly. Cancer prevalence in Indonesia reaches 1.4 per 1000 population. For cervical canser case, Semarang was one of city in the Province of Central Java which have highest cervical cancer case in 2011. Cases of cervical cancer in Semarang increased from 2,782 in 2010 to 5,155 in 2011. By comparison around the world, Indonesia ranked seventh in the world and the first in Asia. The handling of cancer in Indonesia faces various obstacles that cause nearly 70% of patients found in an advanced stage. Implementation of technology could minimize that condition. In cervical cancer cases, the use of cervical screening program could decrease incidences of cervical cancer. By using cervical screening program, early detection of cervical cancer could be done. Self-test endoscopy is one of the method to detect cervical cancer early. This paper elaborate how self-test endoscopy is used to screen cervical cancer. By using self-test endoscopy, one of seven subject in this experiment detected as cervical cancer subject. Keywords: Cervical cancer screening; Self-test endoscopy

Abstract

The concentration of learning is the ability to focus the mind on learning activities that can be influenced by breakfast intake as well as hydration status. Based on preliminary study on 10 students, it was found that there were 7 students who did not have breakfast and 8 students chose to consume energy drinks and mixed drinks instead of consuming water when thirst which caused the body to dehydrate. This study aims to analyze the relationship between breakfast intake and hydration status with learning concentration of students in elementary school Pacar Keling 6 Surabaya city, in February 2017 with cross sectional design. The subjects of the study were students of class III, IV and V chosen by random. The result of the analysis using Chi square test showed that there was a correlation between the intake of breakfast with the study concentration (p-value = 0,048) and there was no correlation between the hydration status and the study concentration (p-value = 0,307). It can be concluded that students with poor breakfast intake have low learning concentrations, the effects caused by mild dehydration conditions only in mood (mood) not on concentration and hydration status can be determined by the type of food and beverages consumed.

Abstract

Escherichia coli are a gram-negative bacteria belonging to the normal human intestinal flora. Excessive type of E.coli pathogen bacteria could cause infectious disease for humans. In the gastrointestinal tract, especially in the small intestine, the pathogen that often causes interference is Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli. Growth of pathogenic bacteria could be inhibited by administration of sinbiotic yogurt. Synbiotic yogurt is a yogurt that is supplemented with probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotics used were Lactobacillus bulgarius, Streptococcus thermophiles, Bifidobacterium bifidium with the addition of prebiotics i.e. purple sweet potato containing oligosaccharides. The aims of this study was to saw the effect of giving sinbiotic yogurt to microscopic images of the small bowel of wistar rats. This research was a laboratory experimental research. The subjects consisted of 24 wistar rats divided in the control group (6 tails) and the treatment group (18 tails) divided into 3 groups with 6 each group. The results of group I with histologic features of normal intestinal tissue, group II partial epithelial mucosal epithelium seen erosion, group III with epithelial cell surface epithelial mucosa appear normal and group IV with epithelial surface erosion but, cell regeneration was characterized by increasing goblet cells . The administration of sinbiotic yogurt given E. coli had a good effect of improving the epithelial cells of the small intestine surface by increasing goblet cells. Keywords: Escherichia coli, Sinbiotic yogurt, Small intestinal mucosa

Abstract

Midwife’s performance at Primary Health Care (PHC) still not optimal, slacken the effort of reducing maternal death. Unavailability of doctor at  PHC placed greater responsibility on midwife, thus improving midwife’s performance is crucial. Midwife’s performance influenced by ability, motivation, and supervision. Cross- ethnic supervision combined with line manager supervision, fit in the development of dialogue focused supervisory relationship (DFSR) in midwifery supervision. This study aimed to analyse the effect of DFSR on midwife’s performance, and the relationship between cross-ethnic supervision  and DFSR. This research used crosssectional design. Using random sampling techniques, 113 pairs of midwives -supervisors working in PHC at Kupang city and Kupang district were obtained. Data analysed using regression analysis. The findings were: (1) quality of DFSR affecting  midwife’s performance improvement, with quality of dialogue give strongest influence, (2) good quality supervisory relationship decrease midwife’s performance, and (3) cross-ethnic supervision didn’t have significant relationship towards DFSR. The development of DFSR as a new construct and evident of the relationship between DFSR and midwife’s performance is a novel in this study. To enrich this finding, future research should use longitudinal design and with different type of respondent. Study in exploring factor in cross-ethnic supervision that may influence DFSR also suggested.    Keywords: Midwife’s performance, Dialogue focused supervisory relationship, Cross-ethnic supervision
