Abstract

Being chronic poisoned by lead was usually caused by the occurrence of metal accumulation in human body. The sufferer would suffer headache, weary, depression, and if there was harder exposure, it could cause a problem in blood system (anemia), neural system, and kidney system that could cause kidney disease. Furthermore, this research aimed at knowing lead level in motor mechanic’s blood at along the Veteran Street, Makassar City and knowing its effect against blood pressure by utilizing cross sectional design. The samples of this research were 40 motor mechanics at Veteran Street, Makassar City who were chosen randomly. The collected data was analyzed by utilizing Chi-square and the results were: there was a significant correlation between age and lead level in blood, there was no significant correlation between the working hour, smoking behavior, the use of personal protective equipment, and lead level in blood, and there was a significant correlation between blood pressure and lead level in motor mechanic’s blood.

Abstract

Midwife’s performance at Primary Health Care (PHC) still not optimal, slacken the effort of reducing maternal death. Unavailability of doctor at  PHC placed greater responsibility on midwife, thus improving midwife’s performance is crucial. Midwife’s performance influenced by ability, motivation, and supervision. Cross- ethnic supervision combined with line manager supervision, fit in the development of dialogue focused supervisory relationship (DFSR) in midwifery supervision. This study aimed to analyse the effect of DFSR on midwife’s performance, and the relationship between cross-ethnic supervision  and DFSR. This research used crosssectional design. Using random sampling techniques, 113 pairs of midwives -supervisors working in PHC at Kupang city and Kupang district were obtained. Data analysed using regression analysis. The findings were: (1) quality of DFSR affecting  midwife’s performance improvement, with quality of dialogue give strongest influence, (2) good quality supervisory relationship decrease midwife’s performance, and (3) cross-ethnic supervision didn’t have significant relationship towards DFSR. The development of DFSR as a new construct and evident of the relationship between DFSR and midwife’s performance is a novel in this study. To enrich this finding, future research should use longitudinal design and with different type of respondent. Study in exploring factor in cross-ethnic supervision that may influence DFSR also suggested.

Abstract

Elderly hypertension often reported that their latency elongated was less compared to healthy elderly. The increase of latency impact on health, it causes susceptibility to illness, stress, confusion, disorientation, mood disorders, less fresh, decrease ability to make decisions. The aim of this research was to explain the effect of consuming Ambon banana on sleep latency of elderly hypertension in Mulyorejo, Surabaya. Time series one group pre-test post test design was used in this research. Affordable population in this research was elderly hypertension in RW 2 and RW 3 Mulyorejo Surabaya. Total sample was 15 respondents and taken by total sampling technique. The independent variable was consuming Ambon banana, and dependent variable was sleep latency of elderly hypertension. Every day the latency and blood pressure on elderly was monitored. Data was collected using questionnaire, and then analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The result showed that consuming Ambon banana affect sleep latency (p=0.009).

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea refers to painful menstruation which appears in the luteal phase that could affect productivity and quality of life, while dysmenorrhea in adolescents can reduce the concentration of learning. Muscle relaxation therapy is a non-pharmacological treatment that is effective, efficient and simple therapy as an treatment of dysmenorrhea. This study was to determine whether the muscle relaxation therapy reduces for dysmenorrhea in adolescents. This study was true experimental with randomized pretest posttest design. Dysmenorrhea screening using ACOG diagnostic criteria, in 207 female students to determine the prevalence of dysmenorrhea and it’s symptoms was recorded in the diary records symptom. Students with dysmenorrhea were divided into a control group (n=30) and an experimental group (n=30). Students in control group received deep breathing relaxation therapy and those in experimental group received muscle relaxation therapy. The intensity of pain, blood pressure, respiration and pulse were measured 15 minutes before being given treatment and would be measured again at 15 minutes after giving the treatment during menstrual pain. Instruments used Numerical Rating Scale. Result: Pain intensity before and after intervention in intervention and control group were 5,53 ± 1,167 vs 4,17 ± 1,053, P = 0,000 and 4,47 ± 1,358 vs 3,87 ± 1,96, P = 0,000 . Test paired t-test and Wilcoxon test to see changes in systolic, diastolic and respiratory pressure changes of pulse before and after relaxation. Comparison of the effects of muscle relaxation and deep breathing relaxation with P <0.05 (0.002) with Mann Whitney test.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a problem in Indonesia. TTS Regency is one of the districts in NTT province with high MMR. Efforts through PWS-KIA include a system of recording and reporting of maternal health services into one of the important strategies in suppressing MMR. The problem is that data management is still done conventionally. With the manual process of course many problems arise in the management process in the work unit. Information technology support is more advanced, conventional data management ways can be replaced with information systems using a computer. Data management also becomes faster and easier to obtain accurate data to use as a basis for decision making in the prevention of health problems The purpose of this research is to develop a database of maternal health services in TTS District Health Office to assist midwives in managing data on maternal health services at health care center. Activities undertaken in the development of this database include identification of ongoing recording and reporting systems, identification of data and information needs, database design, testing and evaluation. The database is developed using PHP-MySQL web-based applications. In carrying out the data base it is necessary to support the power to operate the data base, facilities with sufficient specification, increase the capacity of personnel regarding the database developed. Abstract

The transition between childhood and adulthood is the period of puberty. An important event in puberty is rapid body growth, the appearance of secondary sex features, menarche, and psychic changes. Menarche is too early to be associated with risk factors for some malignant disease such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and myoma. Hyperplasia cholecystitis, incidence of uterine cancer and risk of Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM / Type II) as adults. The consumption of junk food tends to increase from year to year. The habit of consuming junk food among modern teenage children will affect the improvement of nutrition. This is because the fat content, animal protein and trans fat contained in junk food will trigger the release of hormones that affect the occurrence of menarche and the emergence of secondary signs in children faster than normal age. The purpose of this study analyzed the effect of junk food consumption on early puberty incidence in junior high school girls in Jember district. This study was conducted in two stages, the first quantitative observational analytic study with cross sectional design and the second stage of the laboratory using pre experimental design with one shot case study approach for the most frequently consumed food samples. The sample of this research is 88 female teenagers of junior high shool. Data analysis was processed using logistic regression statistic test of significance level p<0,05. Result showed that there was significant effect between junk food consumption pattern on early puberty statistically p = 0,002 < 0,05. From the laboratory test results also showed that the fat content of junk food on average over 20%. The conclusion are consumption habits, consumption time and percentage of fat consumed from junk food affect the incidence of early puberty in female teenagers, while the frequency of consumption does not affect the incidence of early puberty. Keywords: early puberty, junk food, fat
