Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study looks into the mediating role of earning management on the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR), good corporate governance (GCG) and family-owned companies’ performance. This study uses the panel data approach, and 116 family-owned companies on Indonesia Stock Exchange are included as the sample for the period 2014 to 2018 and data were analysed using SPSS and Smart PLS 3.0 software. In this study, CSR is measured using index of ISO 26000, good corporate governance is measured by board size, independent commissioners, board of commissioners and audit quality, while firm performance is measured by return on asset (ROA), Tobin’s Q and earning per share (EPS). Meanwhile, earning management is measured using discretionary accruals (DA) with the modified Jones model. The results show that CSR and GCG can build positive impact on firm performance. The findings also show that earning management mediates the relationship between GCG and firm performance, while it failed to mediate the relationship between CSR and firm performance. Keywords:  Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance, Earning Management, Firm Performance, Family-owned CompaniesABSTRACTThis study looks into the mediating role of earning management on the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR), good corporate governance (GCG) and family-owned companies’ performance. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe incidence of work accident rates tends to be volatile due to ineffective patterns of cooperation and communication between employees and leaders understanding OHS. The purpose of this study is to examine safety leadership, the commitment of OHS experts, accountability to job satisfaction & safety performance. The research analysis method used the PLS or partial least square modeling test. Data collection using questionnaire answer results with a sample of 99 employees. The results show that job satisfaction is significantly affected by safety leadership, and OHS expert commitment and responsibility and safety performance are affected by safety leadership and job satisfaction. The variable commitment and accountability of OHS experts have no significant impact on company performance. The conclusion found workers were satisfied that safety leadership, OHS expert commitments, and accountability could be applied, resulting in improved safety performance. On the other hand, OHS experts have no commitment and accountability to improve safety performance. This situation is due to workers' lack of commitment to implementing OHS and accountabilities. Managerial implications require the OHS aspect to be an integral part of the company's operations and the consequences for improving safety performance standards.    Keywords: leadership, OHS expert, accident, accountability, performance

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to examine the impact of intervention to poverty reduction, manifested through social transfers from local governments’ budget (APBD). We use provincial panel data to examine the extent of impact from such transfer to poverty alleviation performance. Using Beck and Katz’s OLS-PCSE estimator, we confirmed that higher amount of social transfer is indeed beneficial for further reduction in poverty incidence. Other explanatory variables, namely GDP per capita and human capital, also demonstrate significant effects in decreasing the number of poor people, while higher unemployment can lead to addition of the number of people living below the poverty line. These findings suggest that the declining trend in social transfers channelled by local governments might underlie the stagnation of poverty reduction in the last decades. We therefore suggest that ensuring the sustainability of transfers to the poor from local governments’ funds is very important to re-accelerate poverty reduction. Keywords: social transfer; local government; poverty reduction; OLS-PCSE estimator

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe new era of marketing adds an alternative shopping place for consumers where currently online shopping and offline shopping are present. So consumers must choose a shopping choice of the two alternatives. This makes the marketer need to map out what variables or factors from the demographic that make the consumer choose one of the available shopping places. This study looks at how consumers decide where to shop viewed from the consumer demographic factors. The population of this study is consumers of offline and online retail fashion products, of which the number is unknown, so the sample in this study uses non-probability of 130 respondents in DKI Jakarta. With SPSS analysis tools and discriminant analysis aids used, the results of this study indicate that the factors of education and employing consumers determine consumers to choose shopping at one shopping place. The key to successful marketers must focus on attracting the right consumers with the right way that is appropriate with the consumer's shopping behavior. Keywords: Consumer decisions, Demographics, Discriminant analysis

Consistency of planning and budgeting plays an important role in supporting the government to achieve its strategic objectives and is an important instrument to improve the quality of human development and the welfare of the community. Infrastructure development will open economic access and accelerate the added value of the people's economy. Purbalingga Regional Government through its planning document sets out a development plan to improve infrastructure in the region. The purpose of this research is to analyze the consistency between planning and budgeting in Purbalingga Local Government. The results showed that in general the level of consistency between planning and regional budgeting is relatively good, but the results obtained can not be separated from various shortcomings, where there are still many activities that are not aligned. Some of the things that can be done by the government are increasing the capacity of the team planning apparatus, increasing the role of the regional inspectorate, and increasing the government's commitment in maintaining consistency of planning and budgeting.  Keywords: planning, budgeting, consistency, infrastructure
