Abstract

The research aims to know the argumentation skill profile and the difference of students' argumentation skill between 10th MS (Match and Science) and 11th MS in Batik 1 Senior High School of Surakarta on Biodiversity material. The type of research is descriptive quantitative using survey method. Population research is all students or 400 students of class 10th and 11th MS in SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Sampling technique using stratified proportional random sampling. The instrument to measure the skills of the user is using essay handbooks. Analysis of argumentability was using Toulmin's Argumentation Pattern (TAP). The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive. The results showed the quality of the students' argumentation in one of the Private High School Surakarta in sufficient category. Percentage of achievement of each indicator is 68% claim, 60% warrant, 53% data, 45% s backing and 0% rebuttal. The result of t-test got sig. (2-tailed) about 0.002. therefore we can conclude that argumentation skill of 10th and 11th MS in SMA Batik 1 Surakarta have significant differences of class X and XI argumentation skill shows a significant differences, although the argumentation skill quality of both cluster class is enough.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of students' literacy skills in one of the private high schools in Karanganyar. This study uses a survey method. The study population was all high school students of class X, XI, and XII MIA. The sampling technique uses stratified proportional random sampling with a total sample of 45 students. Science literacy skills are measured using the 2015 Program for International Student (PISA) test with indicators developed by Gormally. The results showed that in general, the average value of students' scientific literacy skills was 52.22% in the deficient category. The results of each indicator of scientific literacy skills are as follows: (1) scientific opinion identification skills of 55.56% in the low category, (2) effective literature search of 48.89% in the very low category, (3) understanding the research design elements amounted to 37.78% in the very low category, (4) charted 57.78% in the low category, (5) solved the problem with quantitative skills of 53.33% in the very low category, (6) interpreted the statistics the base is 60.00% in the medium category, (7) inference, prediction and conclusion drawing 62.23% in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine; (1) The number of students who completed the material Biotechnology; (2) Analyze the indicator most elusive . This research is descriptive qualitative, the population of the research students of SMP Negeri 5 in the city Padangsidimpuan, representing 11 SMP is in the City Padangsidimpuan. Namely SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 9 Padangsidimpuan, SMP Negeri 10 Padangsidimpuan. Based on the results of tests mastery of biotechnology research shows that as many as 151 students who completed (45.62%) of the total 331 students and 180 students were not completed (54.38%). Based on the sub material having difficulty in tissue culture material (43.73%), media hydroponics and aeroponics (39.15%), recombination (32.05%), food biotechnology products (27.04%), and the impact of biotechnology by (23.09%). Meanwhile, based on indicators that have trouble distinguishing conventional food biotechnology products and modern (18.91%), identifying the benefits of biotechnology (30.25%), giving a few examples of the manufacture of food and beverages with the use of conventional biotechnology (30.49%), making simple food biotechnology products that can be used in everyday life (29.16%), sort the steps of making a tissue culture (13.92%), identify the process and the advantages and disadvantages of undertaking a tissue culture (51.67%), identified process and the advantages and disadvantages do hydroponics (44.27%), describe how to grow crops with aeroponic media (35.31%), identifying the gene recombination products with new properties that we want (32.03%), and identifies the impact of biotechnology (22.03%).

Abstract

Learning innovation in Higher Education with a scientific approach based learning has been integrated with Information and Communication Technology. This encourages students to solve problems in accordance with the real conditions in the surrounding environment. In addition, it can create self-reliance and learning motivation for students to learn science without any time and place limitation. This study aims to implement scientific approach based learning through the Problem Based Learning model based on Blended Learning in Animal Ecology subjects. This research method is Quasi Experimental Design with Non Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design in Experimental groups through combined Problem Based Learning. Blended Learning. The sample of this research is Biology Education students of FKIP Universitas Samudra. The research instrument used cognitive tests in the form of Essay questions and ARCS motivation questionnaires. Qualitative data analysis by testing Validity and Reliability. Hypothesis testing with the prerequisite test for data normality and paired t sample t test. The results of the study obtained the value of t arithmetic = 13.61 or with Sig (2-tailed) (0.00) α α (0.05) thus Ha was accepted that the significant cognitive learning outcomes of students occurred through learning Blended Learning-based Problem Based Learning. Student learning motivation is categorized into three: very high, high, and medium. The percentage of students in the three categories is 30%, 63.33%, and 7% respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the lesson study learning process. The application of lesson study is in the form of a cycle of planning, implementation, and reflection. This research method is research in the form of class action (action research) which consists of two cycles. Data retrieval is done by observation sheet to the model teacher in carrying out biology learning activities, interviews and questionnaires. Furthermore, the data analysis technique in the complete study uses three simultaneous activities, namely; (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation and (3) inference and verification of data. The results of this study consisted of two cycles: (1) Cycle I of the application of lesson study learning stages was categorized good with a value of 81.66%; (2) Cycle II is the advanced stage of the results of weaknesses and shortcomings in the first cycle, at this stage the lesson study learning application is categorized good with a value of 89.58%. Then it can be concluded that the lesson study learning application can improve teacher professional competence, and make the learning atmosphere active and creative, so students are enthusiastic to learn.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of the essay form validation test for student learning outcomes tests using problem-based plant tissue culture learning videos. The method used in this study is included in the development research to develop test questions on student learning outcomes by using problem-based plant tissue culture learning video products. The stages of the activities carried out are: (1) Research and Information colletion (research and data collection), (2) Planning (planning), (3) Develop Preliminary form of Product (development of the initial product draft), (4) Preliminary Field Testing ( initial field trials), (5) Main Product Revision (revised trial results), (6) Main Field Testing (main product field test), and (7) Operational Product Revision (product revision). From this study, the results show that where valid questions in cycle I are 10 questions, while in cycle II there are 11 valid questions. The first and second cycle test reliability is very high. Based on the calculation results of the above test differentiation in cycle I there are 7 excellent questions, 1 good question, 2 enough questions, while in cycle II there are 6 very good questions, 3 questions which are good, 1 problem is enough, and 1 problem is bad. Based on the index of difficulty in cycle I there are 10 questions that are easy, while in cycle II there are 10 questions that are easy and there is one problem in the medium category.

Abstract

The application of the new curriculum directs more scientific learning by applying the six task method. However, curriculum changes often have obstacles in their implementation. This study aims to analyze the learning environment in biology classes from the perspective of inquiry learning, as one of the most recommended science learning approaches. The research uses descriptive methods, with a population of 121 students from five environmental biology classes who have fully implemented the IQF curriculum. Samples taken by cluster random sampling method obtained two classes with a total of 46 students. Data obtained from questionnaires and learning outcomes documents. The results showed that biology learning activities had a level of conformity with inquiry learning in the "sufficient" category. Data shows that among the components of inquiry activity observed, questioning and hypothesizing are the lowest intensity activities. While communication activities have the highest intensity. It can be concluded that the learning of environmental biology still needs to be improved, especially in questioning and hypothesizing activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the influence of the 3C3R learning model (Content, Context, Connection, Reading, Reasoning, Reflecting) on students' literacy skills after learning in the concept of interaction between living things and the environment. The sample of this study was grade VII students in SMP Negeri 13 Kota Sukabumi which were taken using a pusposive sampling technique with 24 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. The instrument of this research is a matter of testing scientific literacy skills. This type of research is Quasi Experimental with a non equivalent control group design research design. The data analysis technique uses the t test with a significance level of α 0.05. The results of the t test show (tcount 6.845> ttable 2.051) so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there are significant differences in students' scientific literacy skills between the experimental class and the control group. So it can be concluded that the 3C3R learning model influences students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  peningkatan  hasil belajar siswa melalui pemamfaatan lingkungan sekitar sekolah sebagai sumber  belajar pada konsep ekosistem di kelas VII-2 SMPN 1 Percut Sei Tuan TP 2011/2012 Penelitian Tindakan dilaksanakan di  kelas VII-2 SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan Jln.Besar Tembung Gang Pendidikan Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Penelitian berlangsung selama 3 bulan pada semester ganjil dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus dengan mengemukakan 4 tahapan setiap siklusnya yaitu : tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Analisis data hasil penelitian berupa data kuantitatif yang merupakan hasil belajar siswa (pre test dan post test) dengan cara persentase yaitu dengan menghitung peningkatan ketuntasan belajar siswa secara individual dengan nilai ketuntasan 75 dan ketuntasan klasikal sebanyak 85% dari jumlah seluruh siswa. Hasil tes siklus I, terdapat 16 orang siswa (42,10%) sudah mencapai ketuntasan belajar sedangkan 22 orang siswa (57,89%) belum mencapai ketuntasan belajar. Setelah diketahui ada peningkatan maka dilanjutkan memberikan tindakan pada siklus II Kemudian didapat hasil tes siklus II yang mengalami peningkatan dari 38 orang siswa, ternyata 33 orang siswa (86,84%) sudah mencapai ketuntasan belajar, dan hanya 5 orang siswa (13,15%) yang belum mencapai ketuntasan dalam belajar. Keaktifan siswa menunjukkan peningkatan yang sangat signifikan di lihat Pada siklus I tingkat keaktifan siswa berbeda, untuk pengamat I dan pengamat II mendapatkan 18 siswa (52,63%) yang berperan aktif. Demikian juga untuk keaktifan mencatat  ada 18 siswa (36,84%) siswa yang aktif.Siswa yang menangapi komentar teman ada 15 siswa (42,10%), Untuk siswa yang aktif mengamati dan mencatat ada 22 siswa (57,89%), untuk siswa prilakunya menyimpang dari KBM pengamat I dan II menemukan 8 siswa (21,57%) dan  pengamat I dan II menemukan 4 siswa  (10,52%) yang tidak mengerjakan tugas. Pada siklus keII pengamat I dan pengamat II mendapatkan 32 siswa (84,21%) yang berperan aktif, keaktifan mencatat  ada 28 siswa (73,68%) siswa yang aktif.Siswa yang menangapi komentar teman ada 27 siswa (71,05%), Untuk siswa yang aktif mengamati dan mencatat ada 25 siswa (65,78%), untuk siswa prilakunya menyimpang dari KBM pengamat I dan II menemukan 4 siswa (10,52%) dan  pengamat I dan II tidak menemukan  siswa  yang tidak mengerjakan tugas.

Abstract

Collaboration skills between students are needed to optimize learning outcomes. Collaboration skills in learning can allow students to exchange information and ideas with their friends, therefore can increasing students' understanding of a material. This study aims to determine the collaboration skills and find out the differences of collaboration skills on science students grade X, XI, and XII in SMA N 07 Surakarta. This study used survey method. Population of this study included all students of grade X, XI, XII, in total 600 students. Stratified proportional random sampling was used as sampling technique with a sample of 20 students at each grade. Student collaboration skills are measured using questionnaires. Data analysis used quantitative description analysis and ANOVA. The results of the study showed that the profile of the X, XI and XII science students' collaboration skills in SMA N 07 Surakarta was in the range of 70-74% or in the high category. There is no difference in the collaboration skills of science students of grade X, XI, and XII (α = 0.412> 0.05).
