Abstract

This research aims to developing snake ladder learning media in circulatory system material and knowing the effectiveness of snake ladder learning media on learning outcomes of science. This study uses Research and Development according to Borg and Gall and experimental tests with the design of pretest posttest control group design. Data obtained in the form of quantitative data and qualitative data. The results of validation by material experts were 85% (very feasible), by media experts at 81% (very feasible), and by linguists expert 77% (feasible), with an average overall score of 81% (very feasible). The results show that the snake ladder learning media on the circulatory system material is very feasible to be used in learning, as well as the snake ladder learning media on the circulatory system material effectively improves student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The ability of understanding important concepts held by educators and learners. This ability is fundamental in achieving one of the outcomes of learning. Their understanding of the concept of ownership is the ability of a person can use in solving a problem that is related to the concept in everyday life. This descriptive study aims to obtain a description of the conceptual understanding of prospective biology educator students through the use of peer and self-assessment in class discussions. The research subjects were 26 prospective Biology educator students of the 2019/2020 academic year who contracted the human body anatomy physiology course. The instruments used consisted of peer and self assessment sheets, lecturer observation sheets and conceptual understanding questions. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the average peer assessment score was greater than the self assessment, where the peer assessment was in the moderate category (49%) and the self assessmet was in the poor category (34%). There were only 10 students (38.46%) who were in conformity between peer and self assessment with adequate and insufficient categories. The discrepancy was found in 16 students (61.54%) with the category enough, less and very less. The ability to understand the concept of students on each indicator shows different percentage mean. The highest percentage of concept understanding ability indicators is found in the indicators of explaining the concept with its own sentence structure about something that is read or heard clearly / concretely by 64% (Good), while the lowest percentage of indicators of concept comprehension ability is found in the indicators able to connect symbolic forms (pictures, tables, concept maps, diagrams, graphs, mathematical equations, and other formulas) in concepts with other concepts of 51% (Enough).

Abstract

Human Anatomy and Physiology is one of the courses for biology students that is abstract so that not a few students have difficulty studying it. Errors in answering questions can be used as clues to determine the student's mastery of material. This study aims to determine student errors in solving problems in the Human Anatomy & Physiology course. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection method used is the test method. The subjects in this study were biology education students in semester V of the Nineteenth November University Kolaka Academic Year 2019/2020 who took Human Anatomy and Physiology courses. The instrument used in this study was the UAS test questions in the Human Anatomy & Physiology course. The results of the analysis showed that the most difficult questions for students to understand were questions on the function of the eye parts where the points obtained by nine students were only 2 points with the percentage of correct answers only 2%. While the questions on autoimmune disease material got the most correct percentage of answers where the number of points was nine students, namely 31 with a percentage of 34%. From the research results, it can be concluded that by analyzing student errors in answering questions, it can be seen what material is difficult for students to understand so that it can help lecturers to improve the learning process in the following semester.

Abstract

The development of information technology encourages the Teaching Faculty to produce Pre-service graduates who master professional and pedagogical competences enhanced by Information Communication Technology skills. This development research aims to develop evaluation instruments for digital-based education courses, especially evaluation. The ADDIE model is implemented to compile lesson plans and digital-based evaluation instruments. The research was conducted in five stages, namely the stages of analysis, material design, development, and implementation. The results of implementing digital-based evaluation instruments show efficiency and effectiveness for lecturers because the kahoot application provides direct reports for feedback and respondents are very motivated to answer the next point better and accurately. Respondents were impressed by the kahoot application with text, images, time allocation and also music, it was more attractive for respondents to focus more and think faster. Likewise with google forms with its efficiency and effectiveness for students and lecturers because it immediately reports immediately after the complete answer is submitted along with the output ranking. This research implies the importance of considering the use of digital-based evaluation instruments for better, more efficient, more effective feedback and follow-up for future evaluation courses.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the ability of problem solving and student learning outcomes which are still low so that a learning method is needed mind mapping.This research was conducted to investigate the influence of mind mapping method of problem solving ability and the result student on ecology concept in grade Xth grade Math and Science at publich High School Tasikmalaya. The research was carried out in October 2019 until April 2020. The research method used was true experiment. The population of this research was all student of Xth grade Math and Science as many as 5 classes consist of 160 people. The samples taken used a cluster random sampling technique as many as 2 classes, namely Xth grade Math and Science 2 as an experimental class and Xth grade Math and Science 3 as an control class. The data collecting technique used the instrumen of problem solving ability and instrument result student on ecology concept carried out after the learning process. The data analysis technique used was Ancova Test (Analysis of Covariance) dengan bantuan software SPSS 23 for windows pada taraf signifikan (α) = 0,05. Based on rhe result of the study can be concluded that there is the influence of mind mapping method of problem solving ability and the result student on ecology concept in Xth grade Math and Science at publich High School Tasikmalaya. The mind mapping method can increase the enthusiasm and understanding of students about the concept of learning.

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important competencies for human life. Therefore, these skills need to be prioritized in learning to prepare a generation that is adept at solving problems and able to deal with future uncertainties. This study aims to empower students' creative thinking skills using the Discovery Learning and Mind Mapping (DILEMMA) model. The study used the Quasy Experiment method with The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research instrument was in the form of type B figural essay questions which were developed based on indicators of Paul E. Torrance's creative thinking skills. Data collection techniques using tests (pretest and posttest), and non-test (observation). Data analysis using t-test (Independent sample T-test). The results of data analysis obtained the value of Sig. 0.00 <0.05, means that H1 is accepted. Thus, the DILEMMA model has a significant effect on the creative thinking skills of students. Thus, the results of this study can add to the treasury of studies on improving the quality of learning and have practical benefits for teachers to empower students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Biologi memiliki peran penting dalam mengembangkan kompetensi peserta didik dengan menekankan pembelajaran langsung atau pengalaman nyata melalui pelaksanaan praktikum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan keterampilan proses sains dengan praktikum ditinjau dari hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI MIPA SMA Negeri 19 Makassar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian ex post facto bersifat korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 64 peserta didik dipilih secara purposive sampling. Instrument yang digunakan adalah kuesioner pelaksanaan praktikum dan keterampilan proses sains, dokumentasi dengan menghimpung semua hasil belajar peserta didik tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Product Moment Pearson dan analisis jalur (path). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analisis inferensial menggunakan aplikasi computer SPSS versi 20. Diperoleh nilai sig. 0.000 < 0.05 dan nilai R Square menunjukkan angka 0,535 yang artinya pelaksanaan praktikum memiliki pengaruh hubungan sebesar 53,5% dengan keterampilan proses sains jika ditinjau dari hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Science literacy is an essential element of science and technology learning. The mastery of science literacy drives people being competitive and worth employed, especially in the workplace where an employee is expected to be innovative. Globally the mastery of society's science literacy of Indonesian students was still low. Science literacy consists of 4 dimensions, namely context, science competence, knowledge, and science attitude. The science competency dimension becomes important to be achieved by the students as an indicator of the achievement of science literacy. Related to improving science literacy through components of learning strategy, based on various relevant research, in SMA Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang has been conducted a study to compare the achievement of science competency with Problem-based learning and Cooperative Learning (STAD type). To test whether there is a significant difference in the average level of science competency scores between the PBL class and the CL-STAD class in SMA 1 used Mann-Whitney test which shows a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. These results show that there is a significant difference in the average level of science competency of the students X IPA class with the implementation of the PBL and CL-STAD in SMA 1 Tanjungpinang. The achievement of science competency in PBL class is higher than the achievement in CL-STAD class based on 3 aspects, namely: identifying scientific issues, explaining scientific phenomena, and using scientific evidence.

Abstract

The physical distancing policy implemented by the government prohibits physical meetings to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus including all activities in the educational process. The online learning system is implemented to facilitate teaching and learning activities without physical meetings between lecturers and students. This study aims to analyze online learning from the perspective of the lecturers biology education departement in courses based on pedagogical competences and scientific work skills or practicum activity. Surveys and interviews were used to obtain data with a quantitative approach. The results of the study provide information that:1) online learning still allows interactive activities in class; 2) online learning platforms are used in an integrated by lecturers; 3) WhatsApp Zoom and Google Meet are the most widely used platforms because they support synchronous and asynchronous learning; 4) practical activities are carried out using materials available at students' homes and with the help of practical tutorial videos from lecturers and virtual laboratories. Through the full online learning system for even one semester the lecturers of the biology education departement have carried out the learning process well by always providing feedback and the interactive learning between students and lecturers online with the help of various learning platforms. This study provides information about the information of full online leraning at university.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP Negeri 20 Kupang. This study aims to determine the effect of the Make A Match type of cooperative learning model on learning outcomes. The experimental research method used is the Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population of class VII students was 253 students and the sample of class VIID and class VIIH was 54 students. Data collection using learning outcomes tests. Analyzed using t-test, assisted by SPSS For Windows version 23. Hypothesis test results obtained tcount 8,194> 2,00665 ttable at 0,000 significance or less than 0.05, indicating that there are differences in student learning outcomes between the control and experimental classes. It is shown by increasing students' understanding of the digestive system material, students look very enthusiastic in learning, have curiosity, and dare to express opinions during the learning process. Therefore, the Make A Match learning model has great potential in developing students' ideas on problem-solving in learning, as evidenced by the high percentage of student learning outcomes, namely C1 93.055%, C2 75.462%, and C3 73.765%.
