Abstract

Application of Guided Inquiry Learning Model to Improve Student Competency in Biology Learning at SMAN 2 XIII Koto Kampar. The classroom action research was motivated by the low competence of students in aspects of attitudes, knowledge and skills. The purpose of this study was to determine improving student competence of grouping plant in class X IPA 2 SMAN 2 XIII Koto Kampar through the application of guided inquiry learning model. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This study begins with a pre cycle before the cycle I. Subjects were 26 students of SMAN 2 X IPA 2 class XIII Koto Kampar. Data obtained using the competency attitude instrument observation sheet of religious and social attitudes, including: faithful, honest, discipline, cooperation, tolerance and mutual cooperation. A knowledge data was collected with quiz and test questions at the end of the cycle.  The skills data was collected with observation sheets of practices and product. The results showed an increase in the competence of the students after the applied application of guided inquiry learning model. An increase in the average value of attitude competence of the first cycle of 3.15 and the second cycle of 3.49. The competence of knowledge showed an increase from the first cycle of students who pass as many as 22 people (84.62%) in the second cycle students who pass as many as 24 people (92.31%), while competence of skills to practice skills in the first cycle of 3.16, and the second cycle of 3.30. And then, product skills in the first cycle of 3.04 increased in the second cycle of 3.30.Keywords: Grouping Plants, Guided Inquiry, Student Competence

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of cooperation skills of grade VII students in one private junior high school in Magelang. This study uses a survey method. The study population was all seventh grade junior high school students. The sampling technique uses purposive random sampling with a sample of 25 students. Students' cooperative skills are measured in classroom observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that of 36 students there are 0% of students who have very low collaboration skills, 0% of students who have low cooperative skills, 0% of students who have moderate cooperation skills, 72% of students who have high cooperative skills, and 28% of students who have very high cooperation skills. The average cooperative skills of class VII students are high.

Abstract

The problem faced in this study is the low science learning outcomes in material related to chemistry. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the Laboratory Inquiry learning model on acid, alkaline, and salt material in class VII of SMP 1 Percut Sei Tuan Tahun. Action research was conducted in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan with a total of 32 students. The research took place in 2 cycles by expressing four stages in each cycle, namely: the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Analysis of research data in the form of quantitative and qualitative data which is the student learning outcomes (pre-test and post-test) and the results of observations of students' skills utilizing percentage, namely by calculating the increase in student mastery learning individually. The results of the first cycle test, there were 17 students (53.13%) had achieved mastery learning while 15 students (46.87%) had not achieved mastery learning. After it was found that there was an increase, it continued to give action in the second cycle. Then the results of the second cycle test were found to have a substantial increase in the number of students completing, namely from 32 students. It turned out that 28 students (87.50%) had achieved mastery learning, only four students (12.50%) had not reached completeness in learning. Students' skills in conducting practicum have increased significantly. Based on the results of the first cycle test and the second cycle test, it can be concluded that the Laboratory Inquiry Learning Model on Acid, Base, and Salt material can improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to know level of scientific literacy of Animalia Kingdom on senior high school biology book at grade X in Deliserdang. The method of this research was descriptive quantitative by analyzing 7 the Biology Books from different publisher for grade X on animalia Kingdom topic. Books was assessed by researcher. Researcher assessed Animalia Kingdom on Senior High School biology books at grade X in Deliserdang based of scale questioner Animalia Kingdom on Senior High School biology books grade X with science of the body of knowladge, science as a way of investigating, science as a way of thinking, and interaction science, technology, and society. Result of this research shown that  persentage of thema science as a body of knowledge was 21,86%, persentage of science as a way of investigating was 15,27%, persentage of science as a way of thinking was 11,91%, and persentage of interaction science, technology, and society was 10,36%. It can be concluded that percentage of scientific literacy of Animalia Kingdom on Senior High School biology books at grade X in Deliserdang was 59,42% (not yet scientific literacy).

Abstract

Biochemistry practice is a basic practicum that must be mastered by biology education students. Skills in biochemistry practicums are the basis used in practicum physiology, genetics, microbiology, and other materials in biology. This study aims to analyze psychomotor skills achieved by students in biochemical practicums and examine the relationship between cognitive learning outcomes and psychomotor learning outcomes of biology education students in biochemical practicums, especially in the experimental material for making solutions and measuring pH. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a sample of 40 biology education students. Learning outcomes data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis, and the correlation between psychomotor and cognitive learning outcomes was analyzed using Pearson Correlation analysis at α = 0.01. The results showed that psychomotor skills that were mastered by students in biochemistry practicum (making solutions and pH measurements) included levels 1-4, with an achievement percentage of 89.19% at level perception; 97.30% at the level set; 51.62% at the guided response level and 72.97% at the mechanism level, with psychomotor learning outcomes averaging 58 (sufficient category). The cognitive value of students in the experimental for making solutions and pH measurements was 63.32 (good category). There is a positive correlation between psychomotor and cognitive learning outcomes of students in biochemistry practicum (r = 0.67) with a strong correlation category.

Abstract

This research aims to gain a practical guidebook on integrated SCIENCE Class VII semester odd with the utilization of the natural resources of South Labuhan Batu Regency. (1) the test to find out the feasibility of integrated SCIENCE practical guidebook on Class VII semester has developed an odd fit standard BSNP. (2) to find out the opinions of teachers and professors against the practical guidebook on integrated SCIENCE Class VII semester has developed an odd fit standard BSNP. The entire sample is selected by means of purposive sampling. Samples are defined in this study (1) Professor of biology, physics and chemistry University of Muhammadiyah South Tapanuli S2 education criteria amounted to 3 people. (2) integrated SCIENCE teachers in district of South Labuhan Batu Regency Torgamba from some schools with Undergraduate education criteria. The results of the deliberations of the research (1) to the average value of all aspects of the standard of eligibility based on the criteria of 4.30 BSNP is validitasnya { very valid and do not need revision (very decent)}. (2) the standard eligibility content was of 297 as well as an average rating of 4.30 by respondents lecturer and 613 and the average rating of 4.44 by the respondent teachers IPA. The standard language is the feasibility of 193 and an average rating of 4.29 by the respondents to the lecturer and 356 and the average value of 3.96 by respondents to the teachers of the IPA. The eligibility standards of presentation is of 206 as well as an average rating of 4.43 by respondents lecturer and 415 and the average rating of 4.32 by respondents to the teachers of the IPA. The eligibility standard kegrafikan is 476, as well as the average value of 4.29 by the respondents to the lecturer and 963 and the average rating of 4.34 by respondents to the teachers of the IPA.

Abstract

The research was conducted aimed at knowing the effect of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques influencing critical thinking skills and metacognitive knowledge of junior high school students. The sample of this study was class IX in SMP Negeri 1 Ronggur Nihuta which was taken by random sampling with the number of students 62. The instrument of this research was a test. This research method is descriptive and data analysis techniques using the t test with a significance level α = 0.05. The results showed that the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques had an effect on students' critical thinking skills (tcount 90.66> t table 2.039); (2) There is the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with the Mind Mapping technique affecting the metacognitive knowledge of students (t count 40.68> t table 2.039). The results of this study imply that the level of critical thinking skills, metacognitive knowledge has an important role in improving the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbaikan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom action Research) yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat peraga Gambar tentang mahluk hidup , alat peraga hewan dan tumbuhan seperti cicak, daun putri malu, cocor bebek yang ada dilingkungan peserta didik.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan (action research) yang dikembangkan oleh Model John Elliot . Tindakan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus . Setiap siklus  terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan,  observasi, dan refleksi. subjek penelitian perbaikan pembelajaran ini adalah anak – anak  SDN Karang Satria 05 Kecamatan Tambun Utara Kabupaten Bekasi. Analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan  cara yaitu dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis kuantitatif menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kecerdasan interpersonal  mulai dari pra-penelitian sampai siklus 2 yaitu sebesar 86% Berdasarkan kesepakatan peneliti bersama kolaborator keberhasilan tindakan dapat terjadi jika ada peningkatan Kemampuan Peserta Didik dalam Mendeskripsikan Hubungan antara Ciri Khusus Mahluk Hidup terhadap Lingkungan Hidupnya mencapai 71% Pada penelitian ini, peningkatan Hasil Belajar dan Kemampuan Mendeskripsikan Hubungan antara Ciri Khusus Mahluk Hidup terhadap Lingkungan Hidupnya sudah berhasil melampaui 71%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode demonstrasi serta penugasan  dapat meningkatkan Hasil Belajar dan Kemampuan Peserta Didik dalam Mendeskripsikan Hubungan antara Ciri Khusus Mahluk Hidup terhadap Lingkungan Hidupnya . hal ini terlihat dari perubahan sikap anak sebelum menggunakan metode demonstrasi serta  penugasan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' learning difficulties in analyzing the material Biotechnology in view of the indicator. This research is descriptive quantitative study population of SMA as Rokan downstream terdir from SMAN 11 with a sample of as many as 644 people overall. The sampling technique used random sampling techniques. The data collection technique is a multiple-choice test instrument, for trouble indicator boteknologi materials, the data is processed by using a percentage. Judging from the indicators difficulties, learning difficulties on indicators derived their understanding of basic principles of biotechnology and 49.90%, explain the science related to biotechnology 46.44%, explaining the differences of traditional and modern biotechnology 52.23%, 67,44%  Explaining the process of genetic engineering %, explaining 63.44% tissue culture process, explain the process of gene recombinant 63.07%, 48,60%  describes an example of genetic engineering, explained the impact of the use of biotechnology 48.06%, describes the impact of using genetically engineered 63,17%.

Abstract

Abstract: This study is a research and development, which aims to produce instructional media, based MindManager that valid, practical and effective. The subjects were eighth grade students of SMP 27 Makassar by the number of students 39 people. This study uses the research and development according to Borg and Gall. Data collection techniques used in this research is the data on validation results obtained from the validation instrument sheet filled out by the valuator, the data for practicality level obtained from questionnaires that filled out by the valuator and practitioners, the data for effectiveness obtained from questionnaire of students' responses and mastery of student learning outcomes by intructional media based on MindManager. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using the criteria of validity, practicality and effectiveness by Hobri. The research results of development instructional media based on MindManager shows that the total value of the validation results by valuator are 4.42 and included in the valid category. The average level of practicality by valuator questionnaire was 91.33% and 90.66% by practitioners. The effectiveness of the media based on the student response was 96.6% gave a positive response and mastery of learning outcomes is 89.7% of the subjects achieved a minimum level of mastery of the material. Based on these results it can be concluded that the instructional media based MindManager developed by validity, practicality and effectiveness criteria.
