Indonesian press will continue to broadcast environmental news. From the journalism point of view, the news must be clear, understanable, and complete. However, for the time being, the result is not optimal. Audience is still unsure of the environmental news that reaches them. Their emotions are not touched by the environmental news, so they can not contribute to solving environmental problems. Based on this fact, come up idea to make storytelling as a way to convince audience in environmental journalism. Before implementing this concept, the writer conducted research on storytelling practices in broadcasting news of forest and land fires (karhutla) in Riau Pos. Evidently Riau Pos, who had received an award from the provincial government of Riau, has not practiced storytelling in broadcast karhutla news. This fact reinforces the writer to propose storytelling as a convincing art in environmental journalism. This concept leads to a narrative style that takes into account the nature of writing, target of writing, news angles and news languages by presenting the news from the perspective of journalists.

The use of social media is not only important but also strategic means of political communication in the Regional Leader Election (Pilkada) of DKI Jakarta and is interesting to be examined, particularly from the view of Erving Goffman’s Self Presentation—Impression Management Theory. This research aims at illustrating the impression management strategy of the Governor-Vice Governor candidates for DKI Jakarta, namely Ahok-Djarot and Anies-Sandi, through social media. We apply qualitative analyses to the Instagram feeds and Twitter timelines of the two duos from October 2016 to April 2017. The result shows that the candidates attempt to present themselves by projecting the images they want. Ahok-Djarot applies three strategies: 1) credibility strategy, presenting competency, achievements, performance during their time in the office of DKI Jakarta as well as their characters—enthusiastic, firm, and focus to positive matters; (2) politeness strategy, by illustrating themselves as two concerned, friendly, and humorist persons; (3) influencing strategy, to spread influence; (4) self-deprecating strategy to draw sympathy from the citizens about the problems faced by Ahok. On the other hand, Anies-Sandi utilize these three strategies: 1) affinity seeking and politeness strategy to make them acknowledged and liked by the netizens; 2) image confirming strategy to make the netizens have the image of who Anies-Sandi are; and (3) credibility strategy by showcasing their achievements prior to being the Governor-Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta candidates.

The dispute that became the focus of this article related to the accusation raised by the Scorpion Wildlife Foundation towards the Bandung Zoo in terms of animal welfare abandonment. The conflict between the two organizations has increased because the zoo did not accept the allegations and intended to bring the foundation to a legal court for the reason of defamation. Minangkabau customary law is always quite open to integrating with new elements. Despite the influences of Hinduism, Buddhism, and colonial ruler, it is Islam that has encouraged the lifestyle of the matrilineal community until now. The meeting of the elements has created the term ‘adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi kitabullah’, which clearly shows a marriage between old elements and new ones.  It seems that this process did not stop there since social change continues to occur in line with the influence of globalization. Despite the ongoing  social change, the Minangkabau society still have the strong will to preserve the  core elements of their culture. This research was conducted at Nagari Maninjau and Nagari Sungai Batang. Each population referred to in this research means a family group consisting of a father, a mother, and at least one child aged 10-19 years. This study uses a simple quantitative method, involving a total of 106 families as respondents. The results of interview were further analyzed qualitatively. The pioneer of cultural preservation is urban area. In terms of loyalty to introduce culture to the next generation, the family configuration of Minang father+Minang mother and non-Minang father+Minang mother fulfill the criteria. Data shows that no uncle plays a significant role in inheriting culture since the central role is played by a mamak pusako.

False information or “hoax†related to political, economic, religious, cultural, even health issues has become a cause for concern for many people. It is feared that the massive proliferation of hoax-related issues in our public sphere, both in the media and daily interaction, will lead to conflicts if it’s not handled properly. This fear has prompted some movements to fight hoax in Indonesia. The fight against hoax is conducted by many sides, both from government and non-government, in many forms. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the Police of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Indonesian Anti-Hoax Citizens have launched a number of anti-hoax movements by publishing information considered hoax. Besides, there are also some other movements to fight hoaxes, such as HoaxAnalyzer by students of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Apps application by the Islamic organization Muhammadiyah.  On the global scale, the movement against hoax has been led by Google through Google News Lab and First Draft. The movement to fight hoax is conducted by combining technology and human’s cognition to verify the information. Discussion in this research will explore some anti-hoax movements in society. This study aims to map anti-hoax movements in Indonesia. The mapping is intended not only to explore the form of the movements and the methods they use to fight hoax but also to see how effective the movements are to fight hoax in Indonesia.

The Film Censorship Institute (LSF) is an institution that has the authority to determine which films are allowed. LSF authority is contained in Government Regulation No. 18 of 2014, where they play a role in protecting the public from negative films that can affect the cultural perspective of the community. LSF adapts to the social and cultural norms that apply in society, so if we look at film censorship institutions in other countries, the scope of films allowed is also different. For example, in the United States, films featuring sexual scenes are permitted, while in Malaysia, they are not. Likewise, films with sexual nuances and extreme violence are not allowed in Indonesia. LSF has also banned the screening of several films because they are not under social rules and norms. However, the work carried out by LSF is rarely known by the public, ranging from their working methods and institutional leadership to how they carry out their work programs. With this background, the author wants to know and understand the practice of good governance in Indonesia Censorship Film Institution and how the transformative approach is taken to bring about change in the organization. This study will use a qualitative approach with data collection through the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method and literature. The study found that transformative leadership accelerates changes in the LSF by creating innovations for better performance and making an inclusive work culture. This transformative leadership also tremendously affects how LSF implements good governance principles, and all indicators have been fulfilled. The relation and effect of transformative leadership and good governance are also discussed.
