Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal is a scientific open access journal in the field of aquatic sciences, published periodically (April and October) by the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Malikussaleh (Malikussaleh University) in cooperation with Marine Center Universitas Malikussaleh, Department of Aquaculture Universitas Malikussaleh and Department of Marine Science Universitas Malikussaleh. Acta aquatica are publish original research, overviews and reviews relating to aquatic environments (wetlands, freshwater and marine waters) and the border limits of these environmental systems and the impacts of human activities on the environmental systems. Acta Aquatica has a related studies in aquatic bioecology, aquaculture, hydrology, biodiversity of aquatic biosphere, oceanology, exploitation and exploration technology of aquatic resources, fisheries product technology, aquatic microbiology, aquatic modeling, aquatic geographic information systems, and socio-economic of aquatic resources.

Abstract

Bileh fish is a type of freshwater fish that is sought after by the people of Aceh because it has a delicious taste and is quite tasty. Bileh fish is a local fish species that has the potential to be developed as an aquaculture commodity and its population must be preserved from overfishing. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of different feeding frequencies on the growth of bileh fish fry (Rasbora sp.). This research used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications each, namely the frequency of feeding 1 time/day (P1), feeding 2 times/day (P2), feeding 3 times/day day (P3) and feeding 4 times/day (P4). The feed given is commercial feed PF 500 with 39% protein. The parameters observed included survival rate, length growth, weight growth, daily growth rate, feed efficiency and water quality. The results showed that different feeding frequencies had no significant effect on survival rate, absolute length and daily growth rate of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). However, it has a real effect on weight growth and feed efficiency. The best feeding frequency to optimize the weight growth of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) is in the P3 treatment with a frequency of 3 times/day.Keywords: Feed Efficiency; Feeding Frequency; Growth; Rasbora

Abstract

In Aceh Province, tiger prawns (Penaeus monodon) are one of the main commodities of farmers for cultivation. Feed is one of the factors that can support the development of tiger prawn culture. The quality feed is feed that contains essential nutrients in sufficient quantities, one of which is protein. This study aims to determine the effect of commercial feed with different protein content on the growth and survival of tiger prawn fry. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 3 treatments and 4 repetitions, namely P1 (using 40% protein feed), P2 (using 35% protein feed), and P3 (using 26% protein feed). The results showed that commercial feed with different protein content had an effect on active weight growth and feed conversion ratio, but had no effect on tiger prawn survival. Furthermore, the best protein content for the growth and survival of tiger prawn was obtained, namely 40%.Keywords: commercial feed; growth; protein; survival rate; tiger prawn.

Abstract

Megalaspis cordyla, locally known as ikan bekre, stands as a crucial economic species commonly consumed by the people of Lampung. The escalating demand for this fish has significant implications for increased fishing activities, potentially impacting its population. This research aimed to explore the biological characteristics of M. cordyla landed at the Lempasing Fishing Port, Bandar Lampung, providing fundamental insights for fisheries resource management in the waters of Lampung Bay. Using a quantitative descriptive method, the sampled fish has been analyzed to get size structure, growth type, and fish condition factors based on length and weight data collected from M. cordyla landed weekly. Between April and June 2022, a total of 300 samples were collected, with length ranging from 230 to 430 mm TL, with the largest count (77 individuals) in the 314-334 mm interval. M. cordyla has an allometric negative growth pattern in Lampung Bay, with a growth coefficient (b) value of 2.47. Fish condition factor values ranged from 0.71 to 1.33, with June having the highest average value of 1.03. This information contributes greatly to a better understanding and long-term planning for the management of this fish population.Keywords: Allometric; Condition Factor; Length-Weight Relationship; Pelagic Fish; Aquatic Resources Management

Abstract

This research is scheduled to take place from May to August 2022 at the Marine and Brackish Water Aquaculture Fisheries Center in West Sumatra. The method employed will be observation, which entails monitoring the eating behavior of lobsters and their feeding schedule every time food is provided within a 24-hour timeframe. Data pertaining to lobster eating behavior will be analyzed descriptively based on these observations. Throughout the research, various feeding activities of sand lobsters were documented. The observational results indicated that the lobster feeding process remained consistent. The lobster typically initiates the process by gripping the food with its claws and feet, subsequently breaking it into smaller pieces with its claws, and then placing these fragments into its mouth. As the lobster tears apart the food, the next step involves transferring it to the mouth using the nearest upper and lower jaws. In light of this research, it can be inferred that lobster feeding behavior encompasses the following steps: firstly, the lobster approaches the food after spotting it; secondly, lobsters employ their claws to grasp the food; and finally, lobsters tear and ingest the food. Lobster feeding activities are most commonly observed between 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM and 10:00 PM - 2:00 AM.Keywords: eating behavior; lobster; Lobster feeding schedule.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of lysine and probiotic supplementation in artificial feed based on local raw materials on feed quality and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). This research was carried out from August to September 2023 at the Hatchery and Laboratory of Systems and Technology and the Aquaculture Environment, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Teuku Umar University. In this study, bileh fish measuring 2 - 2.5 cm long were used as test fish. The experimental design used was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The level of treatment applied in feed formulation is feed based on local raw materials as a control (P0), feed based on local raw materials with 1.2% lysine supplementation (P1), 1.4% (P2), 1.6% (P3), 1.8 % (P4) and probiotics 15 ml/kg feed. Feed is given at satiation 3 times a day. The test parameters observed were the quality of the feed produced, daily growth rate and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). The research results showed that lysine and probiotic supplementation in artificial feed based on local raw materials gave the same response to the quality of the feed produced, but had a significant effect on the daily growth rate and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish. Abstract

In the present study, three blennid species of Aidablennius sphinx (Valenciennes, 1836) Parablennius tentacularis (Brünnich, 1768) and Scartella cristata (Linnaeus, 1758) were reported from the southeastern Mediterranean waters with visual records during an underwater survey conducted on October 19, 2015 in the Konacik and, on July 30, 2016 in the Çevlik coast at a depth ranges of 2-10 m. The present report is the occurrence and is the first confirmation of three blennid species from Iskenderun Bay, Turkey (South-eastern Mediterranean Sea). Abstract

This research aims to identify the structure of the bivalve community on the coast of Langkat Village, Pinolosian, South Bolaang Mongondow District. Sampling was carried out from December 2020 to January 2021 at three stations, namely seagrass beds (station I), tourist attractions (Station II), and mangroves (Station III), using the quadrant transect method, where each observation station made a line transect from the mainland towards the sea. Line transects are placed at each station, while the distance between line transects is 50 m. Observation results show that the bivalves at the research location consist of five families (Arcidae, Asteridae, Cyprinidae, Cardiidae, Ostreidae) an six types of bivalves, where the diversity index is low and the uniformity index is moderate, indicating that the distribution of each type is relatively even.Keywords: Bivalve; coastal; community structure; Lungkap

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the hormone thyroxine in feed to increase the efficiency of growth performance and revive the life of the cantang grouper (Epinephelus sp.). Something that can be done to achieve this goal is to provide the hormone thyroxine in fish feed to increase growth acceleration. This study used an experimental method using a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatments in this study were: thyroxine hormone A (0 mg), B (6 mg), C (7 mg), D (8 mg), and E (9 mg). Parameters observed were: feed efficiency (ep), growth rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR), fish behavior, and survival. The results showed that fish behavior during rearing included fish movement, appetite, and fish skin color. The most active swimming fish were found in all treatments which were given feed containing the hormone thyroxine. The best feed efficiency (EP) value in treatment E was 76.29%. The value of the feed conversion ratio (FCR) in treatment E was 1.76%. The best growth was in treatment E in weight (2.88 cm) and length (36.85 cm). The best survival in treatments C and D was 98%. Water quality parameters during the study were temperature 27-280C, pH 7.0-7.9, Salinity 25-30 ppt, DO 5.9-6.9ppm, and Ammonia 0.0359-0.1946 ppm. The results of the observations showed that there were differences in fish-fed hormone-containing feed for 60 days and fish behavior. Abstract

The objective of this study was to inventory the different fishing techniques used for the exploitation of fish in the flooded swamp forest of the Lake Tumba micro-basin on the Mbandaka-Center for Research in Ecology and Forestry (CREF Mabali) road axis in Bikoro in the Equateur Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The exchange-based surveys were carried out using a pre-established survey form to exchange with the fishermen working in the different study sites in order to obtain the expected data. The harvesting of fish was done in a traditional manner using the different fishing gears and techniques used by the fishermen in the study area. The results obtained show that the majority of the fishing practices implemented in this area are not sustainable. In total, ten (10) fishing techniques were identified, among which five (5) easily provide fish, namely, creel fishing, scooping, fishing with ichthyotoxic plants, longline fishing and line fishing, which are the most used by the fishermen. Four fishing techniques (fishing with traditional traps, scooping, fishing with ichthyotoxic plants and fishing by weeding the areas) were considered non-selective and capable of creating an imbalance in the different aquatic ecosystems surveyed. This study contributes to the improvement of the knowledge on the exploitation of the animal biodiversity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the one hand, and on the other hand, the perpetuation of the knowledge of the local population whose obsolete character is not in doubt.Keywords: Fishing techniques, Fishing gear, Ichthyological fauna, Bikoro, D.R. Abstract

Stunting is the nutritional status based on the index of PB/U or TB/U where in anthropometric standards of research on the nutritional status of children, the measurement results are in the Threshold of (z-scrore) <-2 SD to -3 SD (short/stunted). Indonesian has a fairly high prevelance of Stunting. One of the causes is inadequate nutrition during the growth period. Rating fish can provide protein and micronutrient nutrition to supportchildern's growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between fish consumption Rates, processing methods and Stunting prevalence. This research is a type of case control study. With research subjects 117 families (78 non-stunted families and 39 stunted families). The research was conducted in the village of Kuta Blang, Samadua district, South Aceh district in September-October. Statistical analysisi using Chi-square test. From this study, it was found that there was no relationship between the number of fish consumption (p=309) and theprvalence of Stunting and there was a significant relationship between how to process (cook) fish and the prevelance of Stunting (p=0,002).Keywords: fish consumption; how to process; stuntingKeywords: fish consumption; how to process; stunting
