Abstract

The paper is written fully in Bahasa Indonesia (except the abstract is written in Bahasa Indonesia and English) using Times New Roman font type, 12 font size and single row space. The paper size is A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and the author is recommended not to write more than 10 pages. The main article content covers abstract, introduction, literature review, method, result, and conclusion. Pictures, tables and equations can be included in the article. Top, bottom, and right / left margin of the paper are 2.54 cm, respectively. The number of words in the abstract is around 200 words. The abstract should mention briefly the background, objectives, method, and main conclusions. Following the abstract, write down five keywords for indexing. An unusual abbreviation should be defined clearly after the first mention.

Abstract

Clothes dryers are now widely used to help with laundry. During the rainy season, drying clothes outside is impractical. Furthermore, clothing may become contaminated with pollution. The rotating drum dryer is the most widely used model for utilizing centrifugal force. However, there are some disadvantages, such as wrinkled clothes from sun drying. The purpose of this study was to determine heat transfer in a clothes dryer with a drying cabinet type. The clothes to be dried are hung on a rack and blown dry with hot air. Convection will reduce the amount of water in the clothes. The hot air inlet velocity was varied between 3m/s, 4m/s, and 5m/s for this study. Changes in clothing surface temperature, calorific value, and efficiency were measured. The findings indicated that the air entering the drying cabinet must be moving at a slow speed. As a result, the incoming air has more time to transfer heat and contains more energy.

Abstract

Depletion of fossil fuels is required to find alternative fuels that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. This research has been conducted to provide pieces of information on the characteristic of flame on fatty acid content and physicochemical properties of cottonseed oil and jatropha curcas. Droplets combustion of vegetable oil was used in this test, with droplet diameters of 0.3-0.4 mm, which were placed in a K-type thermocouple, then heated with a heating wire. Data collection includes flame evolution, temperature, height and ignition delay time. The results showed that jatropha curcas oil produced a longer flame time of 1206 milliseconds and a temperature of 763°C higher than cottonseed oil. The highest flame produced by cottonseed oil was 53.55 mm, while jatropha oil was 50.20 mm. Jatropha curcas oil has a shorter ignition delay than cottonseed oil, 9063 milliseconds and 11375 milliseconds, respectively. Content of various fatty acids and physicochemical properties of vegetable oils fuel affect the characteristics of flames resulting from on combustion process.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to get the effect of friction pressure on the tensile strength of the joining of aluminum alloy AA6061 and carbon steel, with continuous drive friction welding process. Variations of friction pressure of this research were 24 MPa, 32 MPa, and 40 MPa. In this study, a friction time 9 seconds was used. Other friction welding variables were, forging pressure 79 MPa, forging time 60 seconds, and friction rotation speed 1600 rpm. The independent variable was the ultimate tensile strength of the welded joint. The results showed that the increase in the tensile strength of the joint was not linear with the increase of frictional pressure. The rate of the increase in the tensile strength of the connection, will decrease after the frictional pressure passes through 32 MPa. When the rate of increase in the tensile strength of the joint begins to decrease, the joint will become more brittle. The maximum tensile strength of the joint in this study was 167.421 MPa at a frictional pressure of 40 MPa.

Abstract

Internal flows in pipes are studied in greater depth and comprehensiveness in research. The computation done by using RANS equation. In particular, this study uses two equations turbulence model which is k-ε turbulence model. Mesh with 2×106 element is used because it is a mesh with lowest error. The research focuses on the effect of the curvature ratio (Rc) at the bend on changes in fluid flow characteristics. The Rc variations chosen in this study were 0.01, 0.02, and 0.03. The pipe diameter is 0.01 m, resulting in Rc/D=1, Rc/D=2, and Rc/D=3. At Rc/D=1, the maximum fluid flow velocity is in an area closer to the inner core than the outer core. The fluid velocity distribution is also more even if Rc/D=1 is enlarged. The fluid flow separation appears in the pipe with Rc/D=1, but the fluid flow separation in Rc/D=2 and Rc/D=3 is not visible. The separation is at α=75.96º, while the reattachment location is at x/D=0.014.

Abstract

Increasing demand for oil as a fuel and declining production in refineries led to a nationwide fuel oil shortage. Hence compelling academics to develop answers, renewable energy is one of the proposed options. Compression ignition machines utilize renewable fuels such as biodiesel, crude palm oil (CPO), and hydrogen gas. Using biodiesel without modifying the engine can result in decreased thermal efficiency and increased smoke emissions. The addition of modest volumes of hydrogen gas can enhance the performance of diesel engines. The purpose of this investigation is to investigate the performance and emissions of diesel dual-fuel engines. In this investigation, a one-cylinder diesel engine with direct injection was operated at a constant 2000rpm with a 50 percent load. Flow variations of 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10 liters per minute of hydrogen. Compared to biodiesel fuel, the results of this study indicate that a 10LPM hydrogen flow can boost thermal efficiency by 29.85% and a 7.5LPM hydrogen flow can increase power by 0.78 %. Moreover, the use of hydrogen gas reduces exhaust pollutants. Reduced HC, CO, and CO2 emissions by 26ppm, 0.01%, and 2.60%, respectively, for a 10LPM hydrogen flow.

Abstract

The threshing process is one of the problems because currently is still mostly done manually. The development of a mechanical pepper threshing system has been carried out by making a pepper threshing machine. Further development is carried out by analyzing the mechanism of pepper threshing. Based on these problems, a research was conducted to analyze the length of the threshing contact area on the pepper threshing mechanism. The independent variable of the research is the length of the threshing contact area. The dependent variables were threshing capacity, threshing efficiency and damage percentage of pepper. The length of the threshing contact area was varied namely 2, 4, 6 and 8 cm. The threshing mechanism rotational speed used is 360 rpm. The tensile strength of the spring on the threshing net is 0,22 kg/cm. The amount of pepper processed in 1 test is 0,4 kg. Based on the test result, the length of the threshing contact area is inversely proportional to the threshing capacity, and directly proportional to the treshing efficiency and the percentage of damage. The highest capacity and the smallest damage percentage were obtained at a contact area length of 2 cm, respectively 109,09 kg/hour and 10,85%. The highest threshing efficiency was obtained at a contact area length of 8 cm is 95,09%.

Abstract

Generally, cement factories produce secondary product in the form of split stone. Split stone products are produced from basalt rock crashed into aggregates of a certain size. This research is based on the results of split stone production, which is not following the target at a cement factory on the island of Sumatra. It creates production losses and financial losses. One of the causes of the incompatibility of the split stone production target is the non-optimal performance of the stone crusher machine. This research conducted a study related to the calculation of the stone crusher machine efficiency. Data in the real production capacity was obtained from recorded data in the field for twelve months. From the data obtained, the highest efficiency of the stone crusher machine of 58.32% occurred in the first month with a total production loss of 1,086 tons or equivalent to Rp. 217,296,000. The lowest efficiency of the stone crusher of 3.52% occurred in the eighth month with a total production loss of 12,133 tons or equivalent to Rp 4,478,112,000.

Abstract

This research is a laboratory experimental research using a TV-1 type testing machine. This study aims to determine the performance and exhaust emissions of a four-stroke motorcycle on pertalite fuel and fuel with a mixture of clove oil. The composition of the clove oil mixture used in the study. this is as much as 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% into pertalite fuel in units of milliliters (ml). Data collection uses observation techniques using observation tables to record the research results obtained. Data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis in the form of tables and graphs to present the research results. As for the research results from the analysis of engine performance, it was found that there was an increase in engine performance at low rpm with the addition of clove oil to pertalite fuel while for high rpm the greatest power was obtained on pure pertalite fuel. But for fuel consumption, the lowest consumption was found in the composition of 5% clove oil mixture. Whereas for exhaust emissions, the addition of clove oil to pertalite fuel for CO gas emissions can reduce emissions, namely the 10% clove oil mixture. For HC gas emissions, namely in a mixture of 5% and 10% clove oil. As for CO2 emissions, it can be seen that the higher the composition of the clove oil mixture, the emissions also decrease and the highest CO2 emissions are in the 5% clove oil mixture.

Abstract

Abstrak         Pada komponen medis harus memiliki bentuk presisi, produk presisi pada dunia medis harus memiliki ketahan korosi dan kuat, salah satu jenis material yang digunakan dalam pembuatan komponen medis adalah titanium. Titanium dan paduannya merupakan jenis material yang digunakan dalam implan tulang dikarenakan memiliki sifat biocompatible dan resistensi korosi yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari pengaruh dari polishing terhadap kepresisian dan kehalusan permukaan ulir kortikal. Polishing merupakan jenis metode pemolesan yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini dan material yang digunakan adalah Ti-6Al-4V ELI. Parameter pemolesan yang digunakan adalah putaran spindel 1000, 1200, dan 1400 rpm, waktu sebesar 90, 100, dan 110 menit, dan serbuk yaitu porang, pasir silika,  dan abu gosok. Kepresisian geometri ulir dapat dilihat melalui pengukuran kesalahan sudut α dan kesalahan sudut β menggunakan profile projector dan kehalusan permukaan ulir dapat dilihat melalui scanning electron microscope. Pada penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa  polishing berpengaruh pada parameter putaran spindel terhadap kesalahan sudut β dan serbuk berpengaruh terhadap kesalahan sudut α. Hasil scanning electron microscope menampilkan bahwa polishing dapat meningkatkan kehalusan permukaan ulir serta pengurangan dimensi pada baut ulir. Penggunaan serbuk dengan kesalahan terkecil dalam penelitian ini adalah abu gosok, abu gosok terbukti memiliki pengaruh kecil terhadap pemolesan. Selain itu abu gosok lebih ekonomis dibandingkan dengan porang dan pasir silika.
