Abstract

Abstract. Hymné à la Beauté The work of Charles Baudelaire: The Semiotics Review of Riffaterre Poems. This study aims to reveal the hidden meaning of Hymne à la Beauté poem by using semiotic method. The method is designed with qualitative research descriptive analysis. The data are sourced from the work of Charles Baudelaire in the anthology of poetry Les fleurs du Mal. Data analysis was done by analytical descriptive method. The results show that the Hymne à la Beauté poem contains Baudelaire love strands to Jeanne Duval, which is represented through various expressions of poetry and expressionlessness. This poem shows the admiration of a man to a woman and also the despair of love.

Abstract

Abstract. The Utilization of Acrostic Technique to Increase Student Writing Poetry Skill of Class VIII SMP. This study aims to describe the process and the results of learning to write poetry students by using acrostic techniques. This type of research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles. Data analysis technique is done descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The subjects of this study are teachers and students of class VIII SMP Negeri 22 Makassar. Based on result of the study found that (1) the mastery of learning shows a quality improvement of 14.8 percent and (2) the result of student writing poetry showed an increase from the average value of 75 in cycle one to 80 in cycle two. Based on these results, acrostic technique is recommended for learning to write poetry in JHS.

Abstract

Abstract: Values of Character Education in Novel Ibuk Karya Iwan Setiawan. This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in Novel Ibuk by Iwan Setyawan. Research is designed with qualitative approach. Data were collected by using the method of reading and record and analyzed descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there were 12 values of character education in Ibuk novels, including (1) simple living, (2) responsibility, (3) affection, (4) filial piety, (5) religious, (6) caring, (7) appreciating achievement, (8) hard work, (9) love homeland, (10) honest, (11) empathy, and (12) like to read. Based on these findings, Novel Ibuk deserves to be used as teaching materials for literature in high school because it contains many educational values.

Abstract

Abstract: The Instructional Writing Material of Opinion and Essays with Problem Based Learning. This study aims to describe the feasibility and effectiveness of writing articles of opinion and project-based essay articles. Teaching materials were developed using the ADDIE model at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The results showed that the developed teaching materials have been feasible and effectively used in the study of opinion writing and essay. The teaching materials are worthy of use because they meet the aspects of eligibility that are content feasibility, presentation feasibility, and language feasibility. Effective teaching materials are used because there are significant differences in student learning outcomes before using and after using teaching materials.

Abstract

Abstract: Snapshot in Indonesian Prose: Stylistics Study. This study aims to decribe snapshot’s form in Indonesian prose. This qualitative research uses Athirah by Alberthiene Endah and Semua Ikan di Langit by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie as data sources. The result of the study show (1) snapshot is an ellipse sentence, (2) snapshot containing vanished repetition and repetition of meaning, (3) snapshot’s form is divided into three: (a) first form, basic sentence followed by snapshot sentence; (b) second form, snapshot sentence followed by basic sentence; and (c) modified form, snapshot sentences enriched by other clause.

Abstract

Abstract. Representation of Social Situation and Ideology Construction in Anies Baswedan’s Inauguration Speech. This research investigates the representataion of the social situations of Jakarta current issues found in Anies Baswedan’s speech at Governor and Vice Governor inauguration and the reveal of ideology as reflected in the speech. The method used in this research is a qualitative-critical linguistic focusing on the analysis of language metafunctions. The results indicate that the representation of the social situation in DKI Jakarta in view of Anies Baswedan's speech reflects certain ideology depicting the criticism and the spotlight on the issue of justice, prosperity, colonialism, indigenous and independence. This ideology is somewhat based on the use of language in his speech as an attempt to shape the self-image of having efforts to be 'a pro-people and better governor'.

Abstract

Abstract. Paraphrases in the Novel Translation Peebee Has a Wish. This study will bring a new dimension to translation study where many researches have discussed about techinques, strategies, and procedures in translation. This study is aimed at giving explanation of how paraphrase is used in the process of translation by translator in a literary work Harapan Peebee from its original version ‘Peebee Has A Wish’ based on the theory of Danielsson which divide the level of equivalence on the lexical, phrase and grammar alternatives. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. The result shows that the three alternatives categories are found in the translation. Meanwhile, phrase category dominates the findings. However, there are many findings tell the overrated paraphrases where one utterance or sentence are inhabited by more than one alternatives or even all of the categories mentioned by Danielsson.

Abstract

Code-Mixing Javanese Language of Banyumasan in Indonesian Language Learning at Vocational High School. This research will describe: (1) the form of code mixing, and (2) the factor that causing of code mixing that occur in the process of Indonesian learning class. Data and data sources in this research are a written data about speech that appear in a process of Indonesian language learning. Validity data technique is use triangulation of data source and informant review. Data analysis used intralingual method. The results of this study found the use of code mixing in Indonesian learning class in The Country Vocational High School of Banyumas. The form of code mixing that found are namely: (1) word insertion, (2) phrase insertion, (3) clause insertion, (4) the word repetition, and (5) idiom. The factor that causing of code mixing are: (1) changing situation, (2) want to explain something, and (3) establishing intimacy between teacher and student.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengulas tentang pilihan kosakata dalam nilai ekspriensial yang dilakukan guru perempuan Bugis dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas. Dalam kajian tersebut, tuturan guru dalam mengajar dipandang sebagai interaksi verbal yang menjadi muara terhadap terciptanya praktik kekuasan. Praktik-praktik kekuasaan itu ditelusuri melalui pilihan kosakata yang terlihat dalam nilai ekspriensial. Model analisis wacana yang digunakan adalah model Norman Fariclough pada wilayah teks, yakni kosakata. Pilihan kosakata dilihat dari nilai ekspriensial ditemukan penggunaan kosakata yang berefek meyakinkan, pendominasian, dan pengontrolan. Hasil analisisnya ditemukan bahwa perlawanan guru perempuan Bugis dalam wacana kelas merupakan bentuk ketidakpuasan atas tradisi patriarki yang berlaku dalam masyarakat.
