Abstract

Background: Indonesia is ranked 4th in terms of its population using contraception, namely 65%. Based on 2017 Indonesian Health Demographic Survey (IDHS) data, 29% of women aged 15-49 who use certain contraceptive methods are informed about all the information and contraceptive tools used in modern Family Planning (KB) (57.2%), while 6.4% use traditional KB. The research aims  to determine the influence of information received on the choice of contraceptives among Women of Childbearing Age (WUS) in Indonesia. Method: This type of research is an analytical survey with a cross- sectional design. The population is all fertile women aged 15-49 years with a sample of 5.053 people. The sampling technique uses a primary sampling unit. Data analysis using the chi-square test and logistic regression test. The research results revealed that 56.02% used traditional family planning and 43.98% used modern family planning. Results: The analysis results showed that there was an influence of the information received on the choice of contraceptives (p=0.04 and OR=0.67). This means that the information received by WUS is 0.67 times more likely to choose a modern contraceptive method. Then there was an influence of the information received on the choice of contraceptives based on 34 provinces in Indonesia, obtained at p=0.001. Recommendation: It is recommended that the government, through the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) continue to pay attention to the family planning program and ensure that every community implements the family planning program, as well as more extensively providing CIE (Communication, Information, and Education) for family planning.

Abstract

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reported 5,020 cases of fire at gas stations, of which 61% of gas station fires were caused by vehicle fires, 27% by technical errors, and 12% caused by other causes. In 2017 at the Simpang Jam gas stationin Banda Aceh, which caused huge losses. Previously, there had never been a study on the impact of fire and explosion risks, especially for gas stations that were close to residential areas in the city of Banda Aceh.. This research is descriptive analytic with a case study design conducted at 2 gas stations in Banda Aceh using secondary data obtained from gas stations and BMKG and then processed using ALOHA software. The results showed that the flammable area at the Batoh Gas Station was 28 yards, with a red zone (17 yards), an orange zone (21 yards), and a yellow zone (28 yards). The flammable area at the Simpang Jam gas station is 24 yards, with a red zone (13 yards), an orange zone (17 yards), and a yellow zone (24 yards). Both gas stations do not have an emergency response plan to anticipate fires and explosions at these gas stations. it is recommended to the managers of Batoh Gas Stations and Simpang Jam Gas Stations to make an emergency response plan and provide training on fire and explosions for each worker, it is hoped that the government will tighten regulations regarding land that must be vacated in hazard zones to minimize the impact of fire and explosions at these gas stations.

Abstract

Background:  The Global Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) commitment targets reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) to 102 per 100,000 live births by 2015, followe by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) setting a new target of 70 per 100,000 live births in 2030. For a decade or ten years of observations of maternal mortality trends in North Aceh Regency  still show fluctuations. Method: This study examines the relationship between socio-cultural factors and cases of maternal death. Qualitative research by conducting (1) in-depth interviews with 10 key informants, namely midwives who provide services; (2) Focus Group Discussion with Puskesmas Management and Program Responsible Persons on maternal death case audit activities; (3) Documentation study of the track record of maternal deaths in the decade period 2013-2022. Result: The results shows that there is a downward trend although fluctuations of increase and decrease still occur within a decade of observation. The main immediate causes are due to bleeding and hypertension in pregnancy, the predominant place of death is in the hospital. The characteristics of multiparity mothers, ‘4 too’ pregnancies and delays in recognizing problems and making decisions indicate that socio-cultural factors are very influential on maternal mortality in North Aceh. Recommendation: Innovation is needed to reconstruct socio-cultural disadvantages such as late decisions making and the ideal number of children in a family.
