Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of self-confidence among junior high school students, characterized by a lack of courage in expressing opinions, withdrawal from social environments, and low confidence in personal abilities. This study aimed to analyze self-confidence and father involvement and to examine the effect of father involvement on self-confidence among students at SMP Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 267 students selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected via questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with SPSS version 31. The analysis revealed that the majority of students displayed a moderate level of self-confidence (78.3%) and a moderate level of father involvement (72.7%). The results of the regression test indicated that father involvement significantly influenced students’ self-confidence, with a p-value of 0.002 and a contribution of 3.7% (R Square = 0.037). The positive association suggested that higher levels of father involvement were linked to greater student self-confidence. Therefore, while father involvement plays a role in developing students’ self-confidence, its overall impact remains relatively modest. _____________________________________________________________Penelitian ini berangkat dari permasalahan rendahnya tingkat kepercayaan diri siswa SMP yang ditandai dengan kurang berani mengemukakan pendapat, menarik diri dari lingkungan sosial, dan kurang yakin terhadap kemampuan diri. Penelitian ini berupaya guna menelaah self-confidence serta father involvement serta menguji dampak father involvement atas self-confidence pada siswa SMP Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. Penelitian mempergunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis korelasional pengaruh. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 267 siswa yang dipilih mempergunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan mempergunakan angket yang telah diuji validitas serta reliabilitasnya, kemudian dianalisis mempergunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif serta regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan SPSS versi 31. Temuan mengindikasikan mayoritas siswa mempunyai tingkat self-confidence kategori sedang tercatat 78,3% serta father involvement kategori sedang 72,7%. Temuan uji regresi linear sederhana mengindikasikan father involvement berdampak signifikan atas self-confidence dengan nilai signifikansi 0,002 < 0,05 serta kontribusi 3,7% (R Square = 0,037). Arah korelasi positif mengindikasikan semakin tinggi father involvement maka semakin tinggi pula self-confidence siswa. Dengan demikian, keterlibatan ayah berperan dalam perkembangan kepercayaan diri siswa meskipun pengaruhnya relatif rendah.

Abstract

Optimism is an important psychological resource for university students in dealing with academic demands, developmental transitions, and future preparation. Optimism is influenced by various internal factors, including self-esteem and self-compassion. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-esteem and self-compassion with optimism among university students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design involving 418 active students at Universitas Negeri Semarang selected through random sampling. Data were collected using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Compassion Scale–Short Form, and Revised Life Orientation Test, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings showed that self-esteem and self-compassion simultaneously had a significant relationship with optimism (R² = 0.715; p < 0.01). Partially, self-esteem had a positive and significant relationship with optimism (β = 0.532; p < 0.01), and self-compassion also showed a positive and significant relationship with optimism (β = 0.362; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that positive self-evaluation and the ability to accept oneself adaptively play important roles in shaping students’ positive expectations toward the future. _____________________________________________________________Optimisme merupakan salah satu sumber daya psikologis yang penting bagi mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tuntutan akademik, transisi perkembangan, dan persiapan masa depan. Optimisme dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor internal, di antaranya self-esteem dan self-compassion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan self-esteem dan self-compassion dengan optimisme pada mahasiswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional terhadap 418 mahasiswa aktif Universitas Negeri Semarang yang dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Self-Compassion Scale–Short Form, dan Revised Life Orientation Test, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem dan self-compassion secara simultan memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan optimisme (R² = 0,715; p < 0,01). Secara parsial, self-esteem memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan optimisme (β = 0,532; p < 0,01), demikian pula self-compassion yang juga menunjukkan hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan optimisme (β = 0,362; p < 0,01). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa evaluasi diri yang positif dan kemampuan menerima diri secara adaptif berperan penting dalam membentuk harapan positif mahasiswa terhadap masa depan.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a serious problem that has a negative impact on students’ mental health and academic performance. Emotional regulation skills are key for children in monitoring, evaluating, and modifying their emotional reactions when facing these psychosocial impacts. This study aims to investigate the dominant internal and external factors influencing emotional regulation in elementary school students, as well as to map the role of the school environment. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the Rayyan instrument, analyzing 27 relevant research journals from 2013 to 2026. The review results indicate that internally, this ability is influenced by students’ cognitive maturity, emotional awareness, and temperament. Externally, the family environment plays the most dominant role, where parental emotional warmth, parenting skills, and secure attachment significantly enhance children’s emotional regulation capacity. At school, the principal’s anti-bullying policies, along with teachers’ moral support and emotional literacy, contribute positively as protective factors. Various interventions such as psychoeducation, role-playing, and music therapy have also been proven effective in improving students’ emotional stability. This study concludes the importance of strong synergy between parents and educators to build a resilient emotional foundation for children. ____________________________________________________________________Perundungan di sekolah dasar merupakan masalah serius yang berdampak buruk terhadap kesehatan mental dan prestasi akademik siswa. Kemampuan regulasi emosi menjadi kunci utama bagi anak dalam memonitor, mengevaluasi, dan memodifikasi reaksi emosional saat menghadapi dampak psikososial tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvestigasi faktor internal dan eksternal dominan yang mempengaruhi regulasi emosi siswa sekolah dasar, serta memetakan peran lingkungan sekolah. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) berbasis instrumen Rayyan terhadap 27 jurnal penelitian relevan dari rentang tahun 2013 hingga 2026. Hasil tinjauan menunjukkan bahwa secara internal, kemampuan ini dipengaruhi oleh kematangan kognitif, kesadaran emosional, dan temperamen siswa. Secara eksternal, lingkungan keluarga memegang peranan paling dominan di mana kehangatan emosional orang tua, keterampilan pengasuhan, dan keterikatan aman secara signifikan meningkatkan kapasitas regulasi emosi anak. Di sekolah, kebijakan anti-perundungan kepala sekolah serta dukungan moral dan literasi emosi guru berkontribusi positif sebagai faktor pelindung. Berbagai intervensi seperti psikoedukasi, bermain peran, dan terapi musik juga terbukti efektif meningkatkan stabilitas emosi siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan pentingnya sinergi kokoh antara orang tua dan pendidik untuk membangun fondasi emosional anak yang tangguh.
