Abstract

The purpose of the research is to developing Learning Program Plan (LPP) with a PjBL model based on the STEM approach to improve the students’ science process skills in physics learning. This research refers to the development of ADDIE, namely: 1) Analysis, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation and 5) Evaluation. The worthiness of the Learning Program Plan is measure by the result of the Learning Program Plan validation and the responding of the subject is 7 teachers. The result of all the Learning Program Plan showing average value is 4, that is the valid category.  The research design used in the study is Research and Developing (R&D). The research subject is 3 physics teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh, 1 physics teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Lawe Alas, 1 physics teacher at MA Negeri 1 Aceh Tenggara, and 2 physics teachers at SMA 3 Kutacane. Data of the research are questionnaires that are given to the teacher. Data management is carried out by Statistik analysis Likert scale. Questionnaire of the result showed until 89%. From both measures are found the development of Learning Program Plan model PjBL that teacher assessment result to Learning Program Plan with an average score 4.45  with the overall percentage based STEM approach to improving science process student skills in physics learning.

Abstract

Based on the BMKG report on Wednesday, July 29, 2018, at 05.47 WIB, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 SR occurred at the epicenter at a depth of 24 km and was 47 km northeast of the island of Lombok. They are allegedly originating from the Back Arc Thrust Flores, the interaction between the Indo-Australian Plate and the Eurasian plate. This study aims to analyze the subsurface structure of the island of Sumbawa and Flores sea based on the distribution of density values. The analysis was carried out by modeling the subsurface structure based on regional gravity field anomaly data. The data used is secondary data downloaded from the topex.ucsd.edu page 18,400 measuring points. Data processing consists of data correction, separation of anomalies, determination of the Second Vertical Derivative (SVD) value, and 3D and 2D inversion modeling. The data corrections performed are Bouguer correction and terrain correction to produce the total gravity anomaly value. Upward continuation is used to separate regional anomalies and residual anomalies. Analysis of the Second Vertical Derivative (SVD) value was carried out to identify rock contact positions and fault structures. The 3D inversion modeling is done by making a mesh model, and to get a 2D cross-section, six slices are used in the 3D model. The results of the 3D model and 2D cross-section, namely the island of Sumbawa to the Back Arc Thrust zone of Flores, consists of 3 main layers comprised of the upper crust with a density of 2.29 gr/cc - 2.63 gr/cc, the middle crust with a density of 2.64 gr/cc - 2.90 gr/cc, and the lower crust with a density of 2.91 gr/cc - 3.14 gr/cc, and based on the model and SVD value, it shows that the Flores back fault, the reverse fault type, starts at a depth of ± 26 km

Abstract

Sugarcane propagation is mostly done by stem cuttings aged 5 to 8 months. Sugarcane seeds in the form of stalks have limited storage capacity, the germination of seeds will decrease rapidly if the seeds are stored for too long time. The high weight and volume for the use of sugarcane seeds is one of the limiting factors if planting is to be carried out far from the seed breeding place. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the type and storage time of sugarcane seeds on the growth of sugarcane.The research was conducted at the Karangploso Experimental Garden Balittas in January-December 2016. The research was carried out in the field using a divided plot design with 3 replications. The main plot is the type of seed, namely B1 (bud sett) and B2 (bud chip). As subplots are the storage time P0 (without storage/control), P1 (24 hours storage), P2 (48 hours storage), and P3 (72 hours storage). The results showed that the germination power of bud set did not decrease significantly. The increase in germination and first count germination was noticeable at 24-72 h storage compared to control. The percentage of bud chip seed germination rate decreases with increasing storage time. In the polybags phase, the growth of bud sett seeds is faster than bud chip seeds. The growth of 3 months old plants after transplanting the number of seedlings of bud sets and bud chips was not significantly different. The variables of plant height, stem diameter and number of internodes were significantly different. All the observation variables at the age of 6 months showed no significant difference between bud set seeds and bud chip seeds.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of inquiry model learning devices guided by palm fiber composite media in sound wave material. The research method used is the research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D model consisting of definition, design, development, and dissemination stage.  Learning tools developed in the form of syllabus, Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Learner Worksheet (LKPD), test instruments, palm fiber composite media, and learning video. Validation results show the learning device components in the category are so valid that they are feasible for use in learning.  Reliability of syllabus, Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Learner Worksheet (LKPD), test instruments, palm fiber composite media, and learning video above 75% show all components assessed to be in the reliable category. The results of teacher response, student response, and learning implementation are in the very practical category. Learners' learning outcomes increased with a gain of 0.63 in the medium category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the learning device of the guided inquiry model assisted by palm fiber composite media in sound wave material is feasible, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' social skills through a collaborative learning model in Basic Biology courses. This is a research and development (R&D) study. This research consists of six stages, namely: (1) a preliminary study which is evaluative and explorative in nature toward the previous learning model, (2) designing a conceptual model, (3) validating the model, (4) testing the conceptual model, (5) ) revising the results of trials model in order to obtain a final model, and (6) composing the research reports. The development of a collaborative learning model can improve students' social skills. The increasing of students’ social skills can be seen from the skills of students while working in groups, respecting each other's opinions, helping each other in completing assignments and reminding each other in making notes in each other's books and the distribution of tasks during presentations so that each group member has the opportunity to speak

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in motivation and learning outcomes of students on the use of pocketbooks. This type of research is a quasi-experiment which was carried out with a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were students of class X SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh with 66 samples selected by random sampling, data obtained through test questions, and questionnaires. The learning outcome data were analyzed by using the t test. It shows that there is an effect of the pocketbook on the learning outcomes of the experimental class with the control. The N-gain of the experimental class was 63.09 with a fairly effective value category, while the control class was 46.58. Pocketbook also affects learning motivation with the N-gain of the experimental class at 41.48, while the control class is 32.01.

Abstract

Low levels of 'ocean literacy' has been identified in many countries and can be a barrier for citizens to engage in environmentally responsible behavior even though improving public awareness about the ocean can benefit society and the environment. This study assessed the level of knowledge, attitude, and behavior towards the ocean of students grades 10-11 (ages 15-17) in Tanjungpinang, Indonesia, a region with strong connections with the sea. A survey was used in a public school and a private school, with a total of 200 students participating in a test about ocean knowledge and a survey about ocean attitude and behavior. Many test questions were aligned with the SOLE (The Survey of Ocean Literacy and Experience) based on 'Ocean Literacy Principles' established by the Ocean Literacy Campaign in the United States. Overall, respondents possess a moderate level of knowledge, a highly positive attitude towards the ocean environment, and a moderate level category on behavior. There are significant differences: the level of behavior in terms of class level, the level of knowledge, and attitudes in terms of subject interest. There is no significant difference in knowledge between private and public schools. There is a correlation between attitude and knowledge and also between attitude and behavior

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of pocket books on conceptual understanding and student interest in learning. The research method used is quasi experimental using the nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Jaya. The number of samples consisted of 60 people, each class consisting of 30 students. The research instruments used were test questions and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used the conceptual understanding through the N-Gain test and the independent sample t-test, while the interest in learning used the percentage formula. The results of the N-gain test for understanding the concept obtained that the average experimental class was higher than the control class, each class belonging to the criteria for moderate improvement. The results of the independent sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the students' conceptual understanding of the experimental class and the control class. The results of interest in learning from each subscale: family support, teacher influence, and learning experience in class in the experimental class obtained a very high category. Meanwhile, on the subscale the attitudes of friends towards chemistry learning and the influence of informal learning were high. For the control class, the category obtained on the family support subscale is high, while the subscale for friends' attitudes towards chemistry learning, teacher influence, informal learning experiences, and classroom learning experiences is in the moderate category. The average percentage of learning interest in the experimental class was obtained in the very high category, while the control class was in the medium category. The conclusion of this study is that the impact of using pocket books on chemistry learning can improve students' understanding of concepts and interest in learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practical skills possessed by high school alumni to carry out practicum in higher education. The population in this study were high school alumni at universities. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The subjects of this study were high school alumni who entered the faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Engineering, totaling 46 people. Data collection is done by using questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that as many as 69% of students found it difficult to carry out practical procedures, 43% of students found it difficult to follow biology practicum, and 59% of students found it difficult to use practicum tools. Based on these results, the benefits of the practicum that has been followed in high school on implementing practicum in lectures are a better understanding of the material, knowing how to use tools, and practicum in high school contributing when doing a practicum in lectures

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning devices using the 5E learning cycle model to improve students' mastery of concepts and generic science skills in electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. This research is a type of pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design research design. The research subjects were 21 students of class X MIPA-1 MA YKUI Maskumambang, Gresik, East Java. The methods used in data collection include validation and tests. The research data were analyzed descriptively and the n-gain analysis was used to determine the increase in students' mastery of concepts and generic science skills. The results showed: (1) students' mastery of concepts in electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions was 0.8 with high criteria; (2) The average score of the students' mastery of concepts on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions was 89; (3) Increasing students' generic science skills on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material by 0.8 with high criteria; and (4) The average value of generic science skills for observation skills is 96 with predicate A. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the learning device using the 5E learning cycle model is effective in improving students' mastery of concepts and skills in electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution material
