Abstract

This study aims to analyze the physics science literacy and self-regulated learning of high school students in three sub-districts in East Lombok and their relationship. The research uses a descriptive quantitative method. Quantitative data were obtained through a physics science literacy test and a self-regulated learning questionnaire. A total of 91 students were selected using stratified random sampling. The results show that students' physics science literacy is at a moderate level with an average score of 49 (range 39–77). In terms of self-regulated learning, 38% of students were in the moderate category (score 36–54), and 2% were in the low category (score 18–35). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between physics science literacy and self-regulated learning, with a weak to moderate strength (r = 0.17–0.43; p < 0.05). Factors influencing both include the suboptimal use of learning materials, weak study habits, lack of parental support, and the ineffective implementation of self-regulated learning strategies. In conclusion, collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents is needed to create an environment that supports the improvement of science literacy and self-regulated learning among students.

Abstract

Satellite-based rainfall products such as CHIRPS are essential in data-scarce tropical regions, but they require bias correction to improve reliability. This study compares five correction techniques—Linear Regression, Linear Scaling, a static Correction Factor, a Genetic Algorithm (GA)-optimized Correction Factor, and a Python-based Temporal Analysis—against gauge observations in the Petung Watershed, East Java, Indonesia. The GA method optimized nonlinear correction coefficient by minimizing RMSE through iterative selection and mutation processes. The Temporal Analysis applied monthly dynamic scaling using Python scripts to account for seasonal rainfall variability. Model performance was assessed using the Nash–Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE), Pearson correlation (R), and the RMSE–Standard Deviation Ratio (RSR). Linear Scaling achieved the best results (R = 0.857, NSE = 0.724, RSR = 0.547), followed by Linear Regression. The GA-based approach showed marginal improvement over the static factor (NSE = 0.658 versus 0.639). Temporal Analysis improved correlation (R = 0.813) but showed poor performance overall (RSR = 1.425), indicating residual errors exceeding natural data variability. While statistical methods performed best in this case, the poor results of the complex methods reflect implementation limitations—rather than inherent inferiority. This study also highlights the importance of including RSR alongside conventional metrics to expose residual structures often masked by high correlation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of an ethnoscience-based picture storybook to improve the understanding of science concepts in third-grade students of SDN 2 Landungsari, where learning has been limited to textbooks and minimal digital media. The book, entitled “Learning Science and Indonesian Culture with Lintang,” was developed by combining daily stories of the character Lintang, science concepts, and local culture, supported by engaging illustrations. Validation by media and material experts showed average scores of 90.63% and 82.64%, respectively, confirming that the book is suitable for use. The trial showed very positive student and teacher responses (98% and 100%). Students stated that the engaging story and illustrations helped them understand the material, while teachers considered the book effective in supporting learning. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase between the pre-test (mean = 43.64) and post-test (mean = 82.73; t = 4.08; p < 0.05), with an average N-gain of 0.63, which is included in the medium-high category. These results indicate that ethnoscience-based picture storybooks are effective in improving scientific understanding, offering concrete learning media for schools that lack facilities, and utilizing the potential of Nusantara culture as an engaging and meaningful learning resource.

Abstract

The importance of uric acid level testing in the elderly lies in prevention and early management efforts. Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) allows for rapid and easy screening in the community. Although the pathophysiology of hyperuricemia involves decreased renal excretion of uric acid due to aging, this condition is also strongly influenced by various external and internal risk factors. Risk factors commonly associated with hyperuricemia include demographics (age, gender), lifestyle (high-purine diet, physical activity), genetic factors (family history), and the presence of comorbidities. This observational-analytical study with a cross-sectional design aimed to examine uric acid levels and identify seven risk factors and pain symptoms in elderly people (≥ 60 years) in Nagari Pakan Rabaa Timur, South Solok, West Sumatra. The examination was conducted using the POCT (GCU-meter) method on a sample of 87 elderly people taken by purposive sampling. The results showed that the majority of elderly people (58.60%) experienced hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels), which confirms the elderly's vulnerability to this condition due to degenerative processes. Demographically, the sample was dominated by the Young Elderly group (60-69 years, 56.30%), women (66.70%), and had a low level of education (95.40%). Other common risk factors were a high-purine diet (57.50%) and a history of hypertension (40.20%). The majority of elderly people also reported pain symptoms (81.60%), with the level of pain felt mostly being severe (34.5%).

Abstract

This study aims to develop concept elaboration-based physics teaching materials to enhance students' critical thinking skills. The development utilized a 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) model, which involved validation by experts, practicality assessment by teachers, and field testing with thirty-two Grade XI students. The teaching materials were evaluated for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The content validity analysis using Aiken's V produced values ranging from 0.77 to 0.82, conveying that the teaching materials were in the valid category. Teachers' assessments showed high practicality, with an average score of 81.5%, while students provided good responses to the teaching materials, with an average of 81%. The effectiveness test, using the Mann–Whitney U test, showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes (Z = 3.6 > 1.96), with average critical thinking scores of 21 and 17 in the post-test, respectively. These results demonstrate that the concept elaboration-based teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The implementation of this approach is expected to enhance students' critical thinking skills within the physics learning experience.

Abstract

This research assesses the impact of green innovation on the sustainable performance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang City using a systematic and empirical approach. Employing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), the study analyzes several antecedent variables and their effects on green innovation, emphasizing employee conduct and government pressure as significant drivers. Data collection was conducted through Likert-scale questionnaires and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving MSME practitioners and local government officials. A quantitative explanatory approach employed Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to analyze data from 216 purposively sampled MSME respondents via Likert-scale questionnaires, supplemented by Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with practitioners and local officials. The model assessed outer and inner validity, reliability, path coefficients, R-square values (0.647 for green innovation, 0.718 for sustainable performance), and bootstrapping for hypothesis testing. Employee conduct (path coefficient = 0.344, p=0.000) and government pressure (path coefficient = 0.317, p=0.000) significantly drive green innovation, which strongly enhances sustainable performance (path coefficient = 0.650, p=0.000). Environmental dynamics positively affect sustainable performance (path coefficient = 0.195, p=0.002) but negatively moderate the green innovation–sustainable performance link (path coefficient = -0.094, p=0.009), indicating instability weakens benefits amid regulatory and environmental changes. These findings highlight internal behaviors and policy enforcement as key levers over technological or competitive factors in resource-constrained MSMEs. Prioritizing employee pro-environmental engagement and government regulatory support fosters green innovation for improved MSME sustainability, while building adaptive strategies helps counter environmental dynamism; these insights guide policymakers and owners toward integrated environmental–economic strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop animated video learning media based on Bruner’s cognitive theory to enhance the science learning process of third-grade students at SDN 18 Koto Tinggi, focusing on the topics of energy sources and energy transformations. Animated videos are used to present abstract concepts through clear visual representations, enabling learning activities that are more engaging and interactive for students. The study applied a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, to ensure that the developed media is valid, practical, and effective. The validity of the media was examined through expert validation involving media experts, content experts, and language experts, and the results indicated that the media was highly feasible and appropriate for achieving the intended learning objectives. Effectiveness testing was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments, which showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes with an N-Gain score of 0.71. In addition, student and teacher responses demonstrated that the animated video media was very practical, easy to use, attractive, and effective when implemented in classroom learning. Overall, this study contributes to literature on technology-based learning media in Indonesia and supports animated videos for elementary science

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the application of an integrated biogas system in closed house broiler farms as an effort to improve energy efficiency, biosecurity, and sustainable economic value. The research was carried out at PT Zara Propertifarm Indonesia, Bogor Regency, with a system engineering approach and cost-benefit analysis. The results of the study show that the application of biogas is able to reduce LPG consumption by 50% and save energy costs of up to IDR 1,500,000 per production cycle. In addition, there was an increase in the average weight of chickens from 1.82 kg to 1.97 kg per head and a decrease in the mortality rate from 4.8% to 3%. The fermented waste was successfully processed into solid and liquid fertilizer with laboratory quality according to the SNI 19-7030-2004 standard. Economic analysis shows that the total benefits reach IDR 4,760,000 per 1,000 chickens per cycle. Socially, this activity increased the capacity of 15 MBKM students and 8 partner farmers through biogas system operational training. These findings confirm that the biogas system can be a model of sustainable teaching farms based on renewable energy that supports the transition to low-emission agriculture and a circular economy in the livestock sector

Abstract

The integration of technology into elementary education is essential for creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to develop an interactive educational comic based on Canva as an innovative learning medium to enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS). The objective is to produce a learning medium that is valid, practical, and effective for use in elementary schools. This research adopts a Research and Development approach using the 4D model comprising Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, classroom observations, and learning achievement tests, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the product. The results show that the Canva-based educational comic obtained a validity score of 98.2 percent indicating a highly valid category, a practicality score of 94.7 percent indicating a highly practical category, and an N-Gain score of 0.74 indicating high effectiveness in improving learning outcomes. These findings demonstrate that the developed media can significantly enhance students’ conceptual understanding and learning engagement in IPAS. In conclusion, the Canva-based interactive comic is a feasible and beneficial learning medium for elementary education and contributes to the development of digital learning resources that align with the Merdeka Curriculum. Future research is recommended to apply this media across different grade levels and subjects while integrating more dynamic interactive features to enrich the learning experience.

Abstract

Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) remain a significant challenge in healthcare settings due to their impact on patient morbidity, mortality, and treatment costs. This study aimed to describe the trends and risk factors of HAIs using retrospective surveillance data from 2019–2023 at a public hospital in East Java, Indonesia. A total of 18,115 patients with invasive medical devices and 1,674 HAI cases were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and epidemiological indicators—point prevalence, incidence density, and device-associated infection rates—were used. The highest point prevalence occurred in 2021, reaching 112.02 per 1,000 patients (11.2%), with an incidence density of 3.11 per 1,000 patient-days and a device-associated infection rate of 7.94 per 1,000 device-days. These figures declined in 2023 to 77.18 per 1,000 patients (7.7%), 2.30 per 1,000 patient-days, and 6.42 per 1,000 device-days, respectively. Major risk factors included prolonged hospitalization, use of invasive devices such as catheters and ventilators, and comorbidities like diabetes mellitus and chronic diseases. The findings highlight the need for continuous monitoring, staff training, and optimized infection prevention strategies to reduce HAIs and enhance patient safety.
