Abstract

Citrus fruit commodities cultivated by farmers have supply chain management problems at distribution agents and citrus fruit enthusiasts on a local scale. This study aimed to analyze the supply chain management (SCM) channel, the smoothness of SCM, and the efficiency of SCM in citrus fruits. The research was conducted in Poncokusumo Village, Malang Regency. Collecting data using interviews with respondents farmers and traders of oranges. Measurement of data using a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5. The descriptive analysis method is used to describe the SCM phenomenon of citrus fruits, including information flow, commodity flow, and financial flow. The results showed 2 channel citrus fruits ended up in small traders. The smoothness analysis of SCM shows that the financial flow from small traders to middlemen is less smooth than the flow of commodities from small traders to large traders. The efficiency index and farmer share results indicate that channel two is efficient. It is recommended that middlemen apply a pre-order system so that packaging costs and transportation costs do not increase and wholesalers should communicate intensely with farmers so that sales information is conveyed directly to wholesalers.

Abstract

Smallholder oil palm plantations are still facing the challenge of solidity in increasing their collective action to influence the supply chain of the national and global palm oil industry. This study aims to analyze the upstream system of smallholder palm oil production in building the sustainability of the supply chain of the national palm oil industry from a supply chain perspective. The data collection method combines an empirical study approach and literacy. An empirical study was carried out to search for institutional portraits of farmers. Furthermore, the search for commodity flows and palm oil agro-industry actors was carried out using a supply chain scheme framework. Based on the discussion, it is concluded that the disclosure of the flow of information related to the volume, price, and supply value differs according to the stakeholders involved. The supply chain of upstream palm oil production starts from the production line of oil palm plantations to the fabrication of CPO/PKO and the fabrication of their derivatives. Oil palm farmers are the weakest parties in accessing prices, volumes, and purchasing capacity information. Independent and plasma oil palm plantation smallholders are the most vulnerable to problems of uncertainty, transparency, transaction costs, and institutions, as well as the determination of an undisclosed price share between the cooperative as an intermediary and the core company. The downstream supply chain of palm oil agroindustry (olein, biodiesel, and chemical industry) is dominated by stakeholders affiliating with national private plantation companies within the framework of vertical supply synergies. CPO/ PKO palm derivative processed agroindustry, which has no vertical affiliation with national plantation companies on the upstream side, was the weakest actor in dealing with uncertainty in the supply of raw materials.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations contribute to economic development in rural areas, the creation of employment opportunities, and the improvement of living standards. However, this commodity still suffers from sustainability problems. This is especially true among independent smallholders due to inadequate business scale to cover modern and sustainable agricultural practices with certification standards, especially those outlined in Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO).  The study aimed to provide an overview of ISPO-certified oil palm farming practices in Pelepat Ilir District, Bungo Regency.  The data were analyzed quantitatively and related to the farming practices of independent oil palm smallholders who are ISPO certified.  The results showed that farming ISPO-certified independent oil palm plantations were not per ISPO recommendations and norms, using fertilizers and herbicides was also not in line with recommendations, and ISPO-certified farmers received no FFB price differentiation.  In the future, it is hoped that independent oil palm farmers can adopt various sustainable farming practices recommended by ISPO standards. In addition, it is necessary to increase training and education from the government and relevant stakeholders on good agricultural practices.

Abstract

Consumers' Willingness to Pay for C4 pulen rice produced by UD. Ratih in Bali is analyzed in this study, aiming to identify consumer characteristics and market segmentation, calculate WTP values, and evaluate influencing factors. Employing a quantitative approach with the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and SEM-PLS, data were collected from 100 UD. Ratih consumers through questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that consumers are predominantly young (20-24 years), highly educated (59%), with middle income (IDR 3,000,000-IDR 5,000,000), and no family dependents (53%). The highest WTP was recorded for 10 kg packaging (IDR 2,417/kg), with consumer income as the most significant factor (p=0.000), followed by product price (p=0.000) and product quality (p=0.004). The quality of C4 rice—such as its softness and aroma—is a major attraction, although market competition and price fluctuations remain challenges. This study recommends marketing strategies that highlight local quality and utilize digital-based promotions to expand market reach.

Abstract

Farmer groups act as learning classes, collaboration platform and production units. Welfare is the goal of farming families, where prosperity is the ability to meet the food and non-food needs of farming households and manage expenses. The aim of this research is to determine the level of the role of farmer groups and the welfare of their members, as well as to analyze the relationship between the role of farmer groups and the welfare of farmer group members in Banyu Abang Village, Teluk Batang District, North Kayong Regency. The population in this study was 360 members, with a sample size of 100 farmers. The data collection techniques used were direct observation and interviews with farmers. The data analysis used was Spearman's Rank Correlation analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 software. The results of the study showed that the majority of farmers spent most of their income on food consumption, which reached 55.3% of total income and more than 70% of farmer family expenses were spent on food consumption, especially rice and daily necessities. Based on the results of the Spearman rank statistical test, Poktan's role as a learning class, collaboration vehicle, and production unit has a positive but weak relationship with the level of welfare of members. The correlation value between learning classes (0.307), collaboration platform (0.292), and production units (0.302) shows that although there is a positive relationship, the relationship to member welfare is not very strong. This means that although farmer groups can have a positive impact, their role has not been strong enough to significantly improve welfare.
